Parents always throw their expectations onto their children. Mr. and Mrs. Jung weren't, per say, unsuccessful. They just had too many unrealistic hopes and ambitions that they couldn't possibly hope to achieve in their lifetimes. So they did the next best thing with their aspirations: pass it to the next generation. Unfortunately, their oldest son Minhyun was more or less a 'failure' in that all he wanted to as a child was pursue music. The Jungs immediately refused to associate with him further and decided instead to throw everything on their next son, Raehyun. Raehyun, unlike his older brother, was more than happy to take on the expectations that his parents had for him. In fact, he more or less accepted them gladly because it gave him something to live up to. Because even as a child, Raehyun had a fear that he would never amount to anything after hearing his brother's story and seeing homeless people and the like on the streets. His parents made him go through everything, and effectively helicoptered him throughout his entire school career. "Raehyun, do this." and "Raehyun, that's not acceptable." They raised him to a high standard, and he's complied. When he first met Na Young, he wasn't actually serious in going out with her. She was just some random girl in his class, albeit with good looks, and he just wanted to know what this thing called 'love' more or less was. However, what he didn't realize was that, while he wasn't serious, she must definitely was. Raehyun knew only one way to get rid of his problems: dump them. And so that's what he did with his 'girlfriend': left her on the side of the road like trash because he had no other way to deal with the problem. Besides, there were better and more important things to attend to.
