Anastasia was born in New York and spent the first ten years of her life living there until one night when her parents died in a fiery car accident. She was then sent to Chicago to be raised by her grandmother, the only living relative she had. She was quiet and withdrawn, plagued by nightmares from the car crash, not talking to anyone, not even her grandmother. Knowing she needed help the young girl was then sent to see a therapist to help with her condition. Eventually she was able to open up to her grandmother, but it was still hard for her to connect with kids her age and to make friends. She was eleven when she met the mob prince, he accepted her as she was and over time, she came out of her shell.
The girl was sixteen when tragedy struck again, her grandmother passed away of a heart attack shortly before Christmas. Not having anywhere else to go, the Petrov's took her in and became her legal guardians. It's something she will always be grateful for, a debt that she has no way of paying back. Before moving in with them, she turned a blind eye to the whispers of what the family did, to her they were just that, rumors. However, all that changed when she moved in, but it didn’t change her views on them. They were her family and family sticks together no matter what.
Over time her feelings for Mikhail blossomed from friendship into something more but she refused to say anything or act on her feelings. She didn’t want to lose him if he were to reject her, so she pushed her feelings aside and carried on. However, it wasn't until the passing of the mob prince's little brother that she realized she couldn’t continue this way. She's tried her best to keep her feelings under wraps, knowing full well if she were to confess her love to him it could not only jeopardize the relationship they have, even as frayed as it is now, but it could ruin everything she's built for herself.

Ever since he can remember it was just him, his mom, cousin and grandparents, his father revolving in and out of his life until the man disappeared for good. To this day Dimitri is unsure of what really happened to the man but he has his suspicions but he knew better than to go digging or ask his uncle. Growing up, he had a normal childhood, as normal as one could get if one was the nephew of a mobster but still he loved his uncle more like a father and was always eager to please him. This became a competition of sorts, albeit a friendly one, between him and his cousin Mikhail, the heir. This often caused Dimi to become know as a jokester and prankster, getting into trouble the closer he reached his teenage years. When a shy young girl became the interest of his cousin, he teased him relentlessly about it, even more so when the young girl came to live with them but just like everyone else in the family, Dimitri welcomed her with open arms, she became the sister he never had.
The little trio of him and his cousins grew and Dimi was always showing off. Once he reached high school, it just got worse, party's, girls, drinking an drugs became his main focus. Often times, he was not only being called in to the principals office but his uncles as well. An unlikely friendship of his own soon followed when he was threatened of being shipped off, if he didn't grow up and bring his grades up, so the young Dimitri sought out someone who could help him. It took him a while but soon he was pointed to Yugo Kojima, it took even longer for the young man to convince Yugo to help him but bribery does wonders and soon the two became close.
After graduating high school, he followed in the footsteps of the family and entered into college with his main focus of business. The temptation for partying was there but he was able to balance it and his school load. When talks of Mikail taking over the family business he couldn't have been more prouder of his cousin, though it was a shock to them all when they learned of the death of Mikail's younger brother, Vincent and when his uncle passed shortly after it was like an earthquake had went through the family. He was proud to take his place next to his cousin but never like this. Ever since he's become a different man but still with only one goal keep the family alive even if that means losing them if they were ever to find out his relationship the youngest DeLuca.

frankie has had to prove herself since she was a little girl, her father was disappointed his first born was a girl, imagine the surprise when five years later he had another girl. francesca tried to fit the mold of both her parents and found it was easy to assume both roles that they wanted. her mother dressed her up, put in her pageants, enrolled her in gymnastics, music lessons, while she tried so hard to do all the "boy" things to get her father's attention. the girl had no problem getting her hands dirty and certainly had no problem putting people in their place. usually, what she wanted, she got. while she and her sister are completely two different people, there's no one she trusts more to be by her side. she presents a cold front to everyone. she can't seem weak in front of anyone, especially her little sister who is counting on her to make sure they have a future.

Francesca was born the oldest and eldest daughter to the De Luca's. Her father, Lorenzo, was disappointed that he had a daughter and as such showed little interest in her. As a child she tried to do everything she could to gain her father's attention, much to her mother's dismay she showed at an early age that not only did Frankie have an interest in her Barbie's and baby dolls but she also loved playing in the dirt and wrestling. After much begging, she was finally enrolled in karate around the age of eight, at first Frankie didn't care to much for it, she was to impatient but after a while she got the hang of it and loved it.
The girl was ten when her mother passed away, just leaving her and her sister, until their father remarried but the woman was more of a trophy wife than anything. She only took an interest in making sure Frankie kept up with her pageantry shows and gymnastics, even going to far as to put her in a dance class that she absolutely hated, spending the time standing up against the wall during the class until her father got pissed she was wasting their money and had her unrolled from the class.
By the time she was a freshman in high school she was a problem maker, finding any excuse to pick a fight, causing her to be suspended many times before she was eventually expelled. The disappointment from her father was much harder to cope with than she believed so she perfected the innocent act. High school passed in a blur with more parties than she remembers while maintaining her 4.0 gpa. which helped her get in to the university of Chicago law school. College went by in a blink of an eye and before she knew it she was back home and her grandfather was finally retiring, leaving the family business to her.
