• * upstate ny town, very rhinebeck-ish but it doesn't have jdm and paul rudd so honestly what's even the point. roughly a two hour drive, or slightly shorter train ride, from nyc. fairly small with a population of less than 3k, but it gets a lot of tourism because it's """picturesque""" and kind of kitschy but in a charming way. lots of boutiques and galleries, but also tons of mom and pop stores that have been in the fam for generation and old farms.

• Named for the river that borders it on one side, Sweetwater is a picturesque town in upstate New York. It has a year-round population of under 3000, but a steady stream of tourists are drawn to the town throughout the year, with many of them being attracted by the various festivals hosted by the town or simply by the idea of spending a cozy weekend in a charming, historic town. The town's mostly devoid of big franchises, but Sweetwater has plenty of boutiques, galleries, and kitschy shops to keep you busy, along with mom-and-pop stores that have been in town for ages. There are even boutique farms and orchards mixed in with the many old farms that dot the outskirts of Sweetwater, and the town hosts a large farmer's market every Sunday where local vendors sell a diverse and unique selection of goods.
  
  tl;dr it's a character-driven sandbox rp set in a small town in upstate new york that's a mixture of kitschy, trendy stuff and old family businesses/farms. it's not that deep, fam.

• This is going to be a super casual roleplay, so we'll be keeping things lazy lit. I'm more concerned with your post moving things along than with its length, but I expect at least two paragraphs per post. There will be some activity checks, but as long as you at least message me before the deadline, it'll be fine. The main thing I ask is that you at least stay active in the Discord so we know that you haven't disappeared, and that you preferably post in the main thread at least once every two weeks. Discord will be required, since that's where all out of character chatter will take place.
  
  No super fancy formats are required, but you need to have at least a picture of your character and their name in your post. Please try to avoid using anything larger than size 11 or smaller than size 10 font for the body of your posts in character, and I'd prefer your body text be in black or another easy to read color.
  
  I'd like a diverse cast of characters, in terms of ethnicity, personality, and background. Characters can be any age, but I'd appreciate if you didn't only make characters in their teens or early twenties. You can have as many characters as you can handle. Also, this roleplay will be extremely queer-friendly! No out of character prejudice will be tolerated, and while I'd prefer there not be any in character either, I'll allow it as long as it's discussed beforehand by both parties.
  
  I'm not going to be super picky with face claims, though I'd prefer you use celebs or models since they have better quality pics. That said, I won't be accepting any scene/emo models or any of the following actors: the Sprouse twins, Dylan O'Brien, or Lili Reinhart.

• It may not be the fanciest restaurant around, but Chow Down is the best place in town to get a quick bite to eat for a cheap buck. Their burgers and milkshakes are a big hit with the locals, and they've even started making vegetarian versions of a couple of their bestsellers. Plus they make a mean cup of hot chocolate and have fresh donuts every morning. What more could you ask for?

• Main Street Bistro is, as the name suggests, a bistro on Main Street. It's a favorite among locals for first dates, lunch breaks, and those times when you're just looking for somewhere to hang out. With its mismatched tables and chairs and walls covered in pieces by local artists, the bistro has an atmosphere that is both cozy and cool and a menu that's just as varied as the store's décor. Main Street Bistro's open damn near all day and offers made-to-order sandwiches, flatbread pizzas, smoothies, and salads, among other things.

The Mayor's office is on the second floor, and the town post office is part of the building. Sweetwater's sheriff department is right next door, though they're technically on the same piece of property.

• Education is important, and the Sweetwater school system takes the education of its pupils very seriously. Sweetwater has two separate schools: an elementary school for grades K-7 and a high school for grades 8-12. There's even a small community college in town for those who want to further their knowledge after high school.

• Due to Sweetwater's remote location, St. Francis Medical Center is the place to go for essentially all your medical needs. It's open seven days a week, and walk-ins are welcome. The staff are well trained and knowledgeable in their fields, not that it matters much since they're the only option you have unless you're willing to drive several miles to the nearest hospital.

• Thanks to the town's popular farmers' market and many festivals, the Sleepy Hollow Bed and Breakfast stays fairly busy year-round. They even have the occasional local check in for various reasons. Those who stay at the Sleepy Hollow B&B are usually pleased with the experience, since the B&B has friendly service, daily room cleaning, and complimentary breakfast and dinner.

• The Hunter's Lodge has been in business since long before anyone currently living in Sweetwater was born, and the spacious barroom is still a favorite hangout for many of the town's adults. Things tend to get a little rowdy and raucous around the taps, but there are plenty of booths and tables tucked away in quieter areas of the bar that are perfect for intimate conversation. The Hunter's Lodge serves food until 11 PM. They have live music on the weekend, and Wednesday night is karaoke night.

• The Sweetwater Farmers' Market was founded in the early 80s, and it has exploded in popularity in recent years. It is continuously one of the biggest draws to the towns, with many people making the roughly two hour drive from New York City solely for the purpose of visiting the farmers' market. It's the Sunday morning gathering places for locals and an excellent way to support local farmers, though some vendors do come from out of town to sell their goods. The farmers' market is open every Sunday, rain or shine, so be sure to stop by!
