Andrew had been waiting for this moment since he had first became friends with Sylvia. They were moving in together for college. It was the smart thing to do for the economy they had to deal with. Since he got a full ride with his scholarship he was going to pay more of the rent. That was the deal that they struck up. In high school he was known for being a class clown and a pretty laid back guy. He prided himself at being able to make people laugh. He always wore the craziest sunglasses or the weirdest shirts just to get a laugh out of people. All he wanted was to be noticed, because he sure as hell was not getting that from home. The first time he saw Sylvia he thought she was the most beautiful girl alive. He just had to get her to notice him. So he decided to pull a prank on one of their teachers that they had. It was pretty amazing and she thought so too. The detention was well worth that smile that he got from her.

After that they were like best friends, always hanging out. Little did he know, he was friend zoned. He decided that being funny just wasn't enough for him and it was not going to get him a career. So he joined the school's hockey team. He was a fast learner and quick on his feet. He had so much fun doing it. Sylvia even came to his games to watch him. The one game she showed up with a guy and they sat together. He had just spotted her in the stands when the guy started kissing her. The next time Andrew went out on the ice he started a fight, practically knocking the other kid out. It was the first time he had ever felt anger like that but it would not be the last. The more and more she slept around, the more and more fights he got into on the ice. He started getting a reputation for fighting and players kept their distance on other teams. The reputation ended up getting him noticed by colleges all over the country. They needed someone who was both skilled and tough to be on their team. He only chose a college because it was the same one that Sylvia had decided to attend. Even with all of his feelings he still did not have the guts to tell her. But what would telling her matter, she was the kind of girl who did not like to be tied down in a relationship. He was better off just being her friend because at least she would not get tired of him and look for the next best thing. He unfortunately had to become accustomed to the friend zone he was in.

The boxes out of the back of the moving truck weren't too heavy so he carried several at one time. They had found a nice apartment building within walking distance of the school and it was half the amount they would have to pay if they lived on campus. Their apartment was on the bottom floor so no stairs was a very good thing with all of this stuff they needed to move in. He used his foot to kick open the door and shimmy around inside. The lights were already on from when the apartment manager let them in. He had been kind enough to turn them on and show them around. It seemed like a really nice place to live and the college didn't seem half bad itself. Andrew had done some research on the hockey team. It needed some improvement but it was pretty good in ranking. It did not really matter what kind of team you are on, as long as you stand out there is a chance as the NHL and that was his dream. He carried the boxes into the living room and set them on the floor. The apartment came with furniture so there was already a couch. He groaned and flopped face down onto the couch, sprawled out like a dog. "Sylviaaaa, why did you pack so muchhhh!" His cries of playful anguish were muffled in the cushion of the couch.

Fire crackled and steam rose up from every crevasse that marked the ground. Dark figures that once held a title and meaning, shuffled along with their hands and feet bound by shackles. There were pools of what looked like faces that melded together like one organism. Cliffs and jagged rock formations made up the landscape of this barren land. One being ruled over all of this wasteland. Hades sat on a large throne made of obsidian that was polished so one could see themselves within it. The edges were sharp and could cut any normal being that tried to take a seat. He looked on as Charon brought more souls down the river, into his domain. Every soul that came into the underworld was there for good reason. They belonged there and deserved the punishment that was performed by the Furies. Hades supervised all punishments given out.

Hades was the god of the underworld and god of wealth. Precious metals and jewels scattered the walls of his domain. If anyone tried to touch his belongings the punishment would be much worse than death. He wore rings made from unprocessed diamonds. The looked like simple stones but they were worth millions. No human on earth dared speak his name. They were afraid of what might happen. Though he rarely ever left his domain. The one time had only been to acquire a bride for himself. The first time he laid eyes on her he instantly fell in love. It was a shameful thing for him to feel. So he confided in his brother Zeus about his feelings. Under great discomfort he had agreed and helped Hades get Persephone, daughter of Demeter, into the underworld. When Demeter heard of this she threatened to stop all crops from growing on earth. To stop the destruction of the human race Zeus returned Persephone to Olympus. But unbeknownst to them, Hades had Persephone eat four seeds from a Pomegranate fruit, forcing her to return four months out of the year. During that time the earth was barren and was known as winter for the mortals.

Hades never told her how he felt. Persephone did not like the idea of being his wife and made to be down in the underworld with him for so long. She was away from the beautiful rolling hills and fields of flowers that were on the surface. The landscape in the underworld was much different, covered in fire and stone. Hades had grown accustom to his realm that he had received after the defeat of Cronus. The fact that Zeus got to rule Olympus always made him angry. He felt wronged by the lot that he drew, but there was no disputing it. Many years he had been the overseer of the underworld. And all the while it drained his being of all light that it once had. The only comfort he took was knowing he owned all of the riches in the land and he had a beautiful wife. "Open the gates." Another boat full from the mortal world traveled down the river and into the underworld. "Let all those who enter be subject to the rightful judgement by witness of the gods."He drew his fingers through his beard as he watched the judgments of man commence. Persephone should be arriving soon for her four month stay. He never liked to have her witness the judgments that were performed in his throne chamber.

Ethan and Amelia were involved in boatyard fire, he gave Eben powers to kill John but also to kill the other witches including his wife, but he didn't know about Eben's plan of killing the other witches. Right after his wife's death John Blackwell's supposed death and Amelia left Chance Harbor, Ethan became an alcoholic while still raising his son Adam but never told the children the truth about what happened in the past.

Smoke floated up into the night sky as it slipped out from between his lips. The paper crackled as it burned down further. The window from his room led out to the roof which was a comfortable angle to just lay on for hours. He and his mom were forced to move after Andrew had gotten into some trouble. It was not the first time they had to relocate. And it probably would not be the last. People were just too uptight nowadays. All he wanted to do was have fun. Now if that meant spray painting a few cars of school teachers, so be it. He was very laid back and mellow for the most part. But there were times when he got a temper. He inherited that temper from his mother. She often broke things in the process of trying to hit him with objects or her hands. They had a very abusive relationship. Andrew took another hit from the joint he held between his fingers. He just felt really free at that moment. At his original school he got together with the wrong crowd and they introduced him to weed. He and the plant had a lasting relationship ever since. The last bit of his joint burned out. His pupils were dilated and he wore a grin on his face. It had to have been close to midnight by the time he managed to get himself up and back into his room through the window. The pot head fell face first onto his bed and slept.

The sun came in through the curtains and landed right on his face. He rustled a bit and squinted his eyes. He rolled onto his other side so he was no longer blinded but it was a little late to be going back to sleep. Once he was woken up there was no going back. Andrew grumbled and sat up slowly, rubbing his eyes with his fingers. "What the hell." Sunday was usually not a day he was awake his early for. The weekends were perfect for parties, trouble making, and fun. But waking up early, not even close. The house was dead silent. His mother was probably passed out drunk. It was a pretty good assumption to make. He was still in the same clothes from last night that smelled like weed. It was not a bad smell but on rare occasions people did not appreciate the smell of it around them. He got himself up off of his bed and pulled off all of his clothes. Since he knew that his mother would not be awake for another few hours he simply left his room naked and went into the bathroom. The hot water was welcome on his skin. He stood with his head down under the shower head and his one hand on the wall. The shower was slowly waking him up. He withdrew his hand from the wall and used it to fling back the wet hair that was in his face. He lathered up some soap and began scrubbing away the dirt from last night.

Andrew turned the water off and stepped out of the shower. He wrapped a large towel around his waist and proceeded to walk into his bedroom to get dressed. He had no plans for today. Everyone he was acquainted with had something to do. He didn't even know what people did on Sunday's. Well unless you were religious then you would be forced to attend church. "What a crock of s**t." He kicked a few empty beer bottles under his bed as he searched for some clothes to put on. He grabbed up a white wife beater tank top and pulled it on over his head. There were a few holes in it but he was not aiming to impress anyone with his clothes. The jeans he put on were just as torn and faded. It was so strange that they moved to a small town in Alabama. He definitely did not belong. Everyone was proper and well mannered and he was the complete opposite. Andrew finished getting ready and walked out of his room. He found his mother passed out on the living room couch. He rolled his eyes and left the house. He did not have a destination. He was all about just getting up and doing something. And right now walking through town in the morning sounded like a good plan.

Jason could not shake the feeling that something was going to happen. Something very bad. He had no idea what it could possibly be. It might have something to do with the power flickering the other day. For something so necessary how could it be so weak. There had to be someone behind it. Perhaps someone who could manipulate electricity. It was strangely quiet one moment and all of a sudden there began a raucous. He looked down at his wrists. The light on the bracelets dimmed and blinked before unlatching and falling onto the hard ground. The power was down again, this time it seemed like something much more powerful. The sound of his cell door unlocking made him look up. A large grin formed on his face as he heard inmates fighting with the few guards outside. It sounded like it was getting dangerous. He could end up being a target if the guy with all the arms was released. Or any of his other partners locked up in the same prison.

Things were happening so fast. He removed one of his gloves to be ready for anything. His cell door was open and people were running past, both inmates and guards. Carefully he peeked out of his cell to make sure no one was going to attack him. He stepped out onto the platform and looked to his left to see the female guard coming at him. "You again." He kept his ungloved hand behind him as she got closer. "Get away from me, I don't want to hurt you." He had no idea what kind of powers she possessed other than the telepathy. All he had were his hands. She was acting like he was the biggest threat in the prison. Sure his power was extremely dangerous but there were villains that had twisted personalities and enjoyed killing other people. His kills were accidental and brought upon by self defense but no one seemed to care about that little detail.

The female guard tried to tackle him to the ground. He managed to avoid it but his ungloved hand landed on the railing, melting it away. If he hadn't been paying attention he probably would have fallen to the bottom floor. He put up his other arm in self defense as she threw a punch at him. His arm did not block the punch and he was hit into the wall. Super strength was certainly in her arsenal of powers for sure. He grunted in pain and backed towards his cell. "You need to stop." She was not giving up. He did not know what to do other than take her punches. He tried to slip away and without thinking he pushed her against the wall with his ungloved hand. His eyes widened and he quickly pulled his hand away. "I'm so sorry, I-" But nothing had happened to her. She had not been affected by his power. He stood there motionless looking at her. She countered with a signature swift kick to his jaw which sent him into his cell and against the wall. He was laying on his cell floor just looking at his hand in disbelief.

The king summoned Elizabeth to the throne room where he and the queen sat upon great chairs of polished marble. She had loved climbing on those grand thrones when she was very young. Her nanny told her stories of the stone's origins, deep within the Grey Mountains. They were simply fairy tales except for the place where the stone was cut. The Grey Mountains were a natural stronghold between the capitol of Bretonnia and the rest of it's Kingdom. The mountains had seen many wars and protected the capitol from nations that tried to take it. But those were stories she had only heard about. A war had yet come to pass during her years on this earth. She was the eldest and next in line for the throne so she hoped to keep the peace between the nations when she inherited the crown. She was of age when preparations were being made for that time. Elizabeth knew the reason for her summoning and the thought of what lay ahead for her made her apprehensive.

Many nobles from the land were lined up along the walls of the room. They watched her as she entered with her hand maiden behind. Each one of them bowed their heads out of respect. The king and queen stood up from their thrones. Her mother looked worried but her father's face shown pride which made Elizabeth a bit more nervous. She took the sides of her dress in hands and bowed to her royal parents. "You have come of age, where myself and your ancestors before you embarked on a journey to prove your strength and wisdom to your people." Silence swept over the room as he spoke. Her father's voice was deep and powerful, a voice that commanded armies and thousands of subjects. He was truly of royal blood. He had married her mother who great wealth and political standing in her own country. Although she was a woman, her voice was heard in the kingdom. This change in the kingdom paved a positive future for Elizabeth to rule. "Yes your Majesty" She bowed again. "I have selected eight of my finest guards. They are awaiting your choice as to who will be accompanying you." With that final word the King and Queen stepped down from their thrones and walked around her. She followed suit after them and the rest of the royal court after her.

The men were lined up along the palace wall. Growing up in the kingdom she knew most of their names well but not the man themselves. She was not surprised by any of the selections her father had made. As she approached all of the men got down to one knee with their heads held low. Her hand maidens gossiped about many of the king's guard. They had told stories of their lust and less kind ways of handling any sort of uprising. As she inspected them Elizabeth kept that in mind when she made her choice. They were all very strong indeed and all skilled with weaponry. They would not be here otherwise. She stopped in front of one of them. His name was Ward. She had heard no rotten things about this man from anyone. He was one of many in a family, very kind and yet smart with tactics. Elizabeth would need someone who possessed both of those characteristics if she was to succeed in her journey. "I have made my selection. Ward, you will be my companion on my journey." Once she spoke he had looked up at her. He had strong features that would intimidate any bandit who tried to take advantage of her. But his eyes had a softness to them which would reassure her people that they had nothing to fear. When she looked into his eyes she knew she had made the right decision. After he pledged his protection his head dropped again.

The king approved of her decision and sent the rest of the men back to their posts. "You will be leaving tomorrow. Your hand maidens are packing your belongings as we speak." The king looked at Ward with stern eyes. "My daughter is well on her way to becoming a great ruler, I trust you will fulfill your duties to this kingdom and bring her back safely." The king turned and left with the queen. Elizabeth bowed to them as they passed and then she looked back at Ward. "We ride for Reikland when the sun rises." They had a long ride ahead of them. She had never been north of the Grey Mountains before. The king had kept her close as she grew up, never being allowed to go further than Parravon. She was nervous but she knew that Ward would protect her even if it cost him his life. Elizabeth left with her hand maiden following behind.

They returned to her chambers where a bath had been drawn. It smelled of cherry blossoms and the rich salts from the Sea of Claws. Her hand maiden began to untie her dress from behind. "Lady if I may, You made a wise decision choosing Ward as your bodyguard." Elizabeth enjoyed the company of all of her hand maidens and let them speak freely. "He will suit me best on my journey. I have heard good things about him." Her dress fell down to the floor and her hand maiden helped her into the water. "I want you to look after my siblings while I'm gone. There is a chance that I may not come back." She was a rational person and was not going to deny that there was a chance of that happening. Her hand maiden bowed and picked up the dress from the floor and laid it over a chair. She left the room to go fetch some fresh linens. Elizabeth grabbed a soft sponge and began scrubbing her skin gently with it. It would probably be the last proper bath she would have for quite some time.

Elizabeth finished bathing as her maiden returned with a fresh towel and a silk robe. The maiden helped her out of the water and wrapped the towel around her body. Once most of the water was dried off of her skin the towel was removed and she was helped into the robe. Elizabeth walked over to a chair that sat in front of a large mirror. Her hand maiden stood behind her with a brush and began to gently run it down her long dark hair. "I hope I bring honor to my family on this journey. It frightens me greatly." Her hand maiden smiled and she could see it in the reflection of the mirror. "You will be a wonderful leader to this kingdom someday. Once your journey is complete you will be recognized." Those words were reassuring to hear. Elizabeth smiled and stood up from the chair. The hand maiden helped her out of the robe and into her night attire. "Sleep well my lady." Elizabeth got into bed and her hand maiden left the room.
