𝕃𝕠𝕔𝕒𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟 ┆ Lotte World ℂ𝕠𝕞𝕡𝕒𝕟𝕪 ┆ Himself 𝕋𝕙𝕠𝕦𝕘𝕙𝕥𝕤 ┆ Oh Miss Wallace is here with a young child... 𝔽𝕖𝕖𝕝𝕚𝕟𝕘 ┆ Surprised but Happy
Huxley was an early riser, a habit left over from boarding school and his previous life; he sat on the balcony of his apartment watching the sun rise as he drank a calming cup of earl grey tea. The city was busy below him, cars stuck in traffic, people walking the streets, kids in school uniforms as they made their ways to school. Men and women in office attire making their way to work, he looked up to people like them, the ones who worked so hard to get the life they want. Working tirelessly day in and day out, and in his own bizarre way he supposed this applied to him except he was no mere office worker. He was a florist with his own flower shop, the very thought of his job brought a smile to his face, his shop was the most important thing in his life. Maybe to some that would be pathetic, or even a little silly but it was all Huxley had since he dropped his life as Richard and instead chose to be Huxley. Even now thinking about himself as Richard was off putting and unnatural, it didn’t feel like he was talking about himself when he used that name.
He finished drinking his tea before standing from the chair on his balcony and making his way into the apartment, it wasn’t a very big apartment. Just enough room for one since he was the only one he had here, there was no need for anything extra. He set the single cup into the sink and double checked that the stove was turned off, the kettle was emptied down the sink so that water wouldn’t be sitting stagnant the whole day. He had already made and eaten breakfast, had already showered and gotten dressed for the day and now it was finally time to leave. His first step after leaving his place was to make his way to the flower shop to open it and get it ready for the day, when his workers arrived he would make the most of his day off. To his workers, opening the shop and getting it ready for the day nullified the fact that this was supposed to be his day off but what they didn’t understand was that doing small things like that kept him grounded. The pressure of being a high ranking healer within Serenity’s Promise would have been enough but it was well known that he was also Mingze’s favorite healer and some would say even his most talented.
From the outside his life looked easy and while in many ways it was, it also had a chance to take a terrible mental and emotional toll on him. Dungeon raiding was dangerous even with an A-ranked healer, he was only one man, with his own limited amount of power. Sometimes people didn’t make it back out despite everything he did and those who died in the dungeon weighed heavily on his mind day in and day out. He had a book with all the names of all the people who had died in dungeons because he couldn’t save them and every day he reads over their names and remembers the sacrifice they unwillingly made due to his limitations. Remembrance was hard but forgetting them would have been even harder. He continued his walk to the flower shop, he unlocked the door and turned on the lights before starting to set up for the day. Opening the blinds to let the light shine in and to let people see all of his beautiful flowers, his shop was his labor of love and it showed. After an hour of setting up his workers arrived for their shifts, all but shooing him from the shop and demanding that he go and enjoy himself today.
Huxley knew about the Uilcore event today but had been asked by Mingze to not worry about it but to keep his phone close at hand just in case. It was a reasonable request, he didn’t care about the money but if he was needed to help save a life he would instantly give up his day to do so with no complaints. Helping people had always been his number one priority from the beginning and when his powers awakened that had only minorly changed to healing people as often as he could. He must have been stuck on autopilot as he walked because before he knew what was going on he found himself standing in line to get into Lotte’s world. “Ahhh~ When was the last time that I was here?” He mumbled to himself softly in English not wishing to disturb the people around him. He got a couple of curious or annoyed looks but that was normal, he just smiled politely at them and dipped his head slightly in greeting; a few people must have recognized him as they broke off into whispers. He didn’t mind being recognized but he also wasn’t trying to get recognized, he had spent so long hiding himself that he was finished doing that.
He got to the front, bought his ticket and continued through into the amusement park with a soft smile, he looked around a bit before making his way to his favorite place in the whole park. The Carousel. Huxley was in no hurry even though it was his favorite place, sometimes it was just nice to take it slow and relax, to enjoy the way things were going at their own pace. The smiling and happy faces of people, young kids darting around and laughing loudly, middle school and high school laughing and riding the rides and taking pictures. Making sure to enjoy themselves and make precious and beloved memories before it was too late; which it was for Huxley he didn’t have any more precious and beloved childhood memories. In places like this surrounded by all things good and the contagious laughter made it easy to forget that outside of this place the world had changed so drastically the last few years.
As he made his way over to the line to stand in, a group of people rushed past jostling him and he almost bumped into a woman and young child. “Excuse me, I’m so sorry I didn’t bump into you did I?” He questioned immediately looking at the child and all around the two to make sure nothing was dropped before he brought his green colored eyes up to meet the woman's face. “I didn’t make you drop anything, did I?” It was about then that her face behind the large sunglasses started to look familiar to him, he stared at her for a second too long before he realized what he was doing. “I’m so sorry for staring, It’s just you look so familiar and ah! Miss Wallace is that you?" He questioned finally connecting the dots and smiling at her before he looked at the young girl with her. “You two must be here to have fun. I won’t delay you further. I hope you both have the best day today!” He told them with a bright smile, a dip of his head before turning away to get in line for the Carousel once more.
