Yeosang chuckled at her words enjoying the sound of her happy, perhaps even flirty, giggles as he thought about her words. Sure, they flirted all the time but they had never actually gone out alone together, hell they hadn’t even gone out together with a group. It was only a few seconds that he had been thinking about her words before she was speaking again asking if he would take her to dinner soon. She gave him a cute pout as she looked up at him through her lashes with the double whammy of the puppy dog eyes; she looked sweet and innocent. He knew she wasn’t but was definitely extra weak to her when she showed this side to him. “Of course I will. I guess I never really thought about us going on a date before and that’s terrible manners on my part. If it’s a date you want then it’s a date you’ll get.” He said, reaching up to boop her on the nose lightly. “Since we’re both finished with work, how about we head out to dinner now?” He asked while wrapping an arm around her shoulder lightly.

The two of them walked out of the building before he paused outside the door thinking about the nearest place they could eat at this late. “I know a place close by that should be open.” He says looking down at her with a smile. He led her down the street at their usual pace, in no hurry but also not drawing it out either; it was late and they both had long days in different ways. He wanted to make sure that she was taken care of, meaning that she got food in her system and that he saw her get home safely. It was late and it would only get later after all. He maneuvered the streets in companionable silence, just enjoying having his arm wrapped around her shoulders and her body curled into his side. It was comforting and as usual it just felt natural and normal. Once they arrived at the little diner that was open late he opened the door ushering Jinsol in with a playful wink; when she was inside he followed after her as the hostess told them to go ahead and sit anywhere. He followed Jinsol to where she wanted to sit and sat across from her as the waitress joined them.

“Here are the menus, take your time looking at it. Is there anything I can get you two to drink?” It was an older lady and she sounded dead tired, late nights like this could really take its toll. “I’ll take a sprite. I don’t need to stay up and wired all night.” He said with a grin at the older woman who gave him a tired smile. “If only it continued to work that way as you get older. And you miss?” She asked, putting the attention on Jinsol as Yeosang opened his menu and scanned through reading the many options. When the waitress was finished she moved off to get their drinks, he looked up across the table at Jinsol. “It’s not much for a first date but considering it was such short notice I think it’s pretty good. We’ve got the whole place to ourselves after all.” He already knew that he wanted to take her out on a real date, one where they got to dress up and go out to do something, he just needed to get a feel for what Jinsol would want. Would a fancy restaurant and drinks be something she liked? What about heading to the club and just getting a few drinks and dancing the night away?

He’d have to figure it all out eventually, maybe tonight would be the best start to finding that information as it was. He was so lost in thought he almost missed the waitress bringing over their drinks. Had he picked something to eat already? He couldn’t remember as he looked back at the menu finding the first thing that looked good which was a cheeseburger and fries. Good enough for a late night dinner. “I’ll take the cheeseburger with fries.” He said with a smile at the woman as she wrote down his order before she turned around and left. Had he been so lost in his thoughts that Jinsol had ordered already? He looked at the woman across from him and smiled, she was beautiful and he didn’t deserve her attention the way he got it but either way he was thankful. “So you helped move someone today? And the men didn’t even do their part? How rude. Maybe I should make sure you have my number in case it happens again so you can call or text me and I can show them how it’s done.”

Yeosang watched Jinsol’s reaction as he picked up his sprite to take a drink of. They talked a lot at work but had never quite taken anything outside of it like they had tonight and he really liked the idea of spending more time with Jinsol. “So as much as we talk and flirt I don’t actually know much about you Jinsol.” Yeosang brought up but decided that he wasn’t sure what to ask without stepping into territory she wasn’t comfortable talking about. “I’m going to college during the day for business classes. You see, I have two step sisters who are very young and they really look up to me. I don’t want to disappoint them so I’m trying to get my life together.” He mentioned with a smile thinking of the two little monsters who should be tucked into bed asleep by now. While his story wasn’t exactly a happy one, from his mother leaving him and his father, to him stealing; he didn’t mind sharing it one way or the other. It was what it was and it was a part of him good or bad and people, his soulmate whoever they might be, would also have to learn to accept all sides of him.

His mother might have left him and his dad high and dry but neither of them carried a vengeful bone in their body towards the woman. Sadness? Yes. Disappointment? Yes. Maybe a little resentment? Probably. At the end of the day however his dad was given a new soulmate and he got those two adorable little monstrous munchkins out of it. It felt silly to say that those two little girls had changed his life but they really had, if they hadn’t come into his life he might have continued stealing and eventually done worse things. He wasn’t delusional and knew that with time his enjoyment of fine and expensive things would have gotten him in a lot of trouble if he wasn’t more careful.

                                                                          Quote:

Eunji inwardly sighed as the cashier was trying to keep her hostage for as long as he could and due to being so polite she couldn’t bring herself to be mean or harsh with him. She was about to say forget it and leave without the items when a much bigger man jumped over the counter and got in the cashier's face. Her eyes went wide watching as this man she had never seen let alone met before came to her assistance in such a way. She was standing there frozen in place while also hoping there wouldn’t be a physical altercation between the two men, even if the cashier was being sleazy. He seemed to see reason as he handed her bag over her and she was about to hand over the money when her savior paid and hopped back over to her side. He quickly asked if she was okay as he escorted her out of the building and she wasn’t really sure what to say just yet. Luckily he continued talking as he pointed back behind them at the cashier and she frowned a little thinking about meeting more guys like him or worse as this man had said.

He spoke again about being willing to walk her home instead if she didn’t want to ride on the motorcycle and as she turned her head to look at the vehicle in question it dawned on her. She had seen him before, at the college with his friends who all rode motorcycles. “Oh!” she exclaimed softly as she realized it all before she turned to look up at him again and she scanned his face. “Are you sure your motorcycle would be safe here if we walked?” She wondered about the machine, she knew they could be expensive but beyond that she was fairly clueless on the whole thing. “Can you… pardon me if I sound ignorant as this isn’t exactly an area of my expertise but can you like… walk it with us or something so it’s not left behind? Is that a thing that can be done?” She felt really stupid as she asked that question but she really had no idea how things like this worked, she had never met anyone with a motorcycle after all. “Please don’t take this the wrong way but… I feel like I’ve seen you at the college before. Do you take classes there?”

She’d had some kind of pick up line similar to this used on her a few times by guys and it wasn’t like she was trying to hit on him, she hardly knew him; whoever he was. Speaking of, she didn’t even know his name. “I’m Eunji, thank you for your help. As much as I appreciate the offer I don’t want to take away any of your time. I planned on heading back home now anyways.” She told him before looking out across the street, it was full of people but she did notice a couple of guys watching them and it made cold chills run down her spine. She was definitely in danger if she walked away from here without his help and she deflated slightly. “On second thought, having some company on the way home sounds good as long as you are sure you don’t mind.” He seemed nice enough and had already helped her out once, however if he decided to refuse she supposed she could just call her parents and see if either of them could come pick her up. She would feel disappointed in herself but her parents would understand once she explained the situation to them and most of all they would just want her safe.

However, Yunho, as he had introduced himself as, agreed to walk with her home and she smiled at him full of gratitude. “Thank you so much Yunho. It really means a lot to me.” She was making sure to thank him, because that’s just how she was. It was how she was brought up and how she was raised, sometimes it got annoying to some people however so she was trying not to overdo it as they walked. “So you said that you do hang out at the college but that doesn’t sound like you go to school there.” She brought up his previous answer to her question before she looked up at him and frowned a little. “What are you doing if you aren’t going to college? Are you working?” She asked curiously before looking at the sidewalk and it was a few minutes before it clicked that her words could come off as judgey and she gasped and stopped walking. “I’m so sorry. That sounded like I was judging you or something. That’s not my intention at all but what you are doing with your life is actually none of my business and I’m so sorry for prying.”

All she knew now was his name, he had a motorcycle, that he hung around the college but that he might not go to the college himself. She knew some of his friends with the motorcycles went to the college though, she had some classes with a few of them but she had also seen others walking around between classes. She walked down the streets with Yunho when her phone went off and she pulled it out looking at it, it was her mother asking if things were okay. ‘Everything’s fine. I got a little held up at the store but I should be home soon.’ Immediate frantic questions from her siblings made her smile. ‘The store clerk was flirting with me and wouldn’t leave me alone. Luckily someone nice helped me out and he’s making sure I get home safely.’ She sighed a little, shaking her head at her phone before putting it away once more and turning down the net street. By now they were in a nicer neighborhood, it wasn’t fancy for anything but definitely a nicer area and one that she could continue on by herself.

“You don’t have to walk me all the way if you don’t want Yunho. We’re close enough and in a safe enough area that I should be fine.” Eunji said while she stopped walking to turn to face him, she didn’t want him to waste his time walking her any longer unless he was really serious. He seemed serious though and so she relented and continued walking with him, a few more streets and they walked into a little neighborhood and she led the way before stopping in front of a house. “This is my place. Thank you again for all your help tonight Yunho.”

                                                                          Quote:

Was it wrong to find Jiwoo cute? Hyunjin briefly wondered as she nearly jumped out of her seat and she was holding her chest like she was terrified. Something about the whole scene was endearing and dare he say it; cute. The little stutter she did on his name was also cute, and man if he didn’t pay attention and finish this project with her soon he could be in trouble here. She quickly started talking again and he was barely containing the grin that wanted to spread across his lips as she rambled and tried not to insult him at the same time. Luckily they started to talk about the project and he was able to think clearly again, but while she had his computer and was looking through his slides he was able to stare at her for a moment without her noticing. Some guys - and girls for that matter - would say that the glass took away from Jiwoo’s beauty but Hyunjin didn’t think so, it did give her a cute and innocent nerd look however.

She had no makeup on but had practically flawless skin, her cheekbones were defined, she had a small mouth but a really nice smile when she wasn’t being shy. Her nose was small and cute - there was that thought again - he shook his head a little pulling out of his examination of her. Luckily she was talking about the project at hand once more and he nodded his head in agreement as he took the laptop back from her. Was she blushing because he asked about doing the project outside of the library? Cute. He though as a smile crossed his lips, she agreed that working together would make more sense. As he brought up the cafe she agreed but told him that he didn’t have to treat her; well he was still going to try. He watched the surprise on her face as he asked about walking to class together which was no surprise since everyone seemed to ignore the girl unless they wanted her help. “Yeah really. It doesn’t make sense to go separately. We were doing our project and now we’re going back to the same class. Just makes sense to walk together.”

He waited as she gathered her things but he was in no hurry as he looked around the library wondering if any of his friends had stalked him to the library again. He didn’t see anyone so that meant it hadn’t been Han at least. The others were more sneaky. When Jiwoo was finished packing her things up they walked down the hallways together, he wasn’t really sure what to say but felt the need too. “So, have you figured out your major yet?” He questioned curiously, some people did and some people didn’t. He was determined to dance even if he never got big enough for it to make him a lot of money, he would do all the side jobs necessary. When they made it to class he wondered if Jiwoo would go back to sitting by himself, he had an empty spot next to him usually and figured it wouldn’t hurt. Right? “The seat next to me is almost always empty in case you don’t want to sit by yourself.” He offered with a small smile as they walked into the classroom.

Hyunjin didn’t want to feel like he was forcing her to sit with him so he went on and moved over to where his usual seat was, he took off his bag and set it down as he sat also. The class was buzzing with talk and energy as people talked but Hyunjin didn’t usually pay attention to any of that as he sat back and pulled his phone out. The group chat was surprisingly not being blown up since he had ditched them first thing, he was sure he would get it later though like at lunch where he couldn’t ignore them. Instead he scrolled through social media as he waited for the teacher to show up and start class, the chair in front of him moved as someone turned around to face him. “Ay, why were you walking with the nerd to class?” Hyunjin looked up with a straight face. “Her name’s Jiwoo. Refer to her by it.” He said coldly. Why did people seem to think calling her that was just okay? It was not only rude but derogatory.

The very last thing Hyena had expected while she was having her lunch of an oh so healthy energy drink was to be joined by anyone but when they started talking she recognized his voice right away. She almost sighed, this was the last thing she needed but the situation before her was comical since she had done it to herself. “I thought I’d been pretty sneaky. Who snitched?” She asked, pulling up a playful smile as she turned where she was sitting to dangle her legs off the top of the table. “I know very well what a hangover looks like, I know all the signs. I was getting myself water before class but two came out. I didn’t need the second one, while wondering what I was going to do with it I caught sight of someone laying on a bench out back. I decided to take a sneaky look because I was bored and nosy, turned out it was you showing all the signs of nursing a hangover. I had an extra water and the meds in my bag so I figured I’d just leave them there for when you woke up because I was definitely not about to wake you up and deal with more questions.” Hyena said with a slight shrug as she took another drink from her energy drink.

It sounded unlikely even for her and she actually went through all of it, she chugged the last of her energy drink and hopped off the table she was sitting on as she grabbed her bag. “You can believe it as the truth or not believe it as truth. At this point it doesn’t matter much, does it?" She said as she walked up to him. “Maybe it’s time to find a new spot for lunch since it’s become too easy to find me here.” She looked him down and up again before a smile slowly came to her face. “It’s too bad.” She said before walking around him and heading towards the door once more. “We could have had a lot of fun.” She said before stepping down into the stairwell and heading down them towards the first floor. She kept telling herself she didn’t want anything complicated. That she didn’t want company. That she didn’t want friends. That she didn’t want connections. But it all sounded much more hollow today than they had for a while, she left the art building and crossed the campus grounds. She’d have to find some place new to eat so that Changbin and herself could quit meeting up like that; something about him was clearly addictive to her since a part of her wanted to keep him around.

She walked off campus and over to where her motorcycle was, she put her bag into the boot ready to head home and just ditch the rest of the day. Realizing that she didn’t have Jiwoo’s number in return she sighed heavily, laying her head back. If she went home she wouldn’t want to come back so she might as well torture herself through the rest of her god forsaken classes. She growled in annoyance as she got back off her bike and grabbed her bag back out of her boot only to turn around and see some people staring at her. “Never seen someone forget something before?” She asked boredly as she threw her bag over her shoulder and marched back towards the school; she had some time left over for lunch so she might as well take the time to look for someplace new to eat. She made her way across the lawns scanning the area before seeing Changbin’s group of friends, she made sure to avoid them not wanting to run into the one in question.

There were a couple of buildings scattered around the area, it was a matter of finding one close enough to her class before lunch that had a spot she liked. She bee-lined it towards the English building, sure it wasn’t the closest to her previous building but it would also avoid crossing paths with where Changbin and his friends usually ate. It felt like eyes were on her as she walked over but she dared not look around, normally she didn’t care but it felt like they were burning a hole into her back and she could venture a guess as to who it was. The door shut behind her, letting her take a moment to catch a breath before she wandered around the hallways, finding nothing suitable on the first floor she moved up to the second floor. She found a small classroom overlooking the school grounds but if she sat far enough away no one would be able to see her. The door was unlocked and while it was clean it was easy to see no one used it for anything except maybe storage for extra tables and chairs by the excess that was littered around the room.

She would definitely have to do some cleanup in this room if she wanted to have some peace and quiet while she had lunch away from everyone else. It wasn’t as nice or free as the roof but this would also give her shelter during the rainy and snowy seasons when before she didn’t have any. And if she opened the windows to the room it would get a breeze on nice days plus it was air conditioned, overall there wasn’t much wrong with it. Even the sounds of the teaching didn’t come through the walls, deciding that this would be a nice place from now on she decided moving things around would have to wait until tomorrow as the bell rang. She didn’t really want to stay at school the rest of the day but she needed to, maybe it would distract her enough from the hollow and empty feeling in her chest. She left the room and after a few minutes the building too as she moved off to the building that held her next class, she didn’t let her eyes drift as she walked.

Yeonjun didn’t care about interrupting the two humans talking about whatever they had been talking about, luckily the blonde was soon distracted by Kai so the brunette was fully focused on him as she agreed to take care of them. Soobin, who had been talking to Jiyoon again, had just agreed to a break and Yeonjun wanted to roll his eyes; he just wanted him and his friends out of this god forsaken place. He scowled but followed Nayun as she took her backpack off and sat down, he crouched as she went through her bag and he eyed everything he saw come out of it. He was on edge, waiting for the moment that she pulled a gun out or did something suspicious; it would be just their luck that they two they ran into worked for those rich bastards. Instead everything was surprisingly mundane as she pulled out a first-aid kit, he watched her pull out the gauze and disinfected and squinted his eyes knowing that it was going to hurt.

He watched her open the disinfectant while wrinkling his nose in disgust knowing what was coming but he let her take his hand, she was so gentle and it was clear she didn’t need to be. He was momentarily distracted by the way she glanced up at him warning him about the sting but he managed a nod to let her know it was fine. She poured it on and he grit his teeth hissing through them before she was blowing on it and strangely enough that seemed to help? She wrapped it in gauze securely as she spoke again and he found her little smile unnecessary at this time. He clenched his hand around the gauze gently so that he wouldn’t cause any more damage. “Thanks.” He says with an annoyed sniff before standing up and stalking to where the younger boys were. “What are you three doing?” He asked looking at the three of them before following their line of sight to see it was now focused on Soobin and Jiyoon. “Soobin told Jiyoon about how we were being chased.” Kai said, frowning and playing with his fingers.

Yeonjun’s eyes snapped over to look over at Soobin and the human in question, he found them talking and whatever was being said she seemed to be taking it well enough. “Maybe I should get hurt so Nayon and Jiyoon can take care of me too.” Taehyun pouted and Yeonjun lightly pushed his head. “Knock it off. They are leading us out of the cave and then we’re free.” He reminded them. “What if we put them in danger?” Kai asked softly, worry lacing his voice. “Not my problem.” Yeonjun growls before stalking off by himself. He was just a little ways away from the group as he paced silently, they didn’t have the time to start caring about anyone else. Especially not these two humans. Humans had been hurting them for years, some of the boys couldn’t even remember what it was like being truly free and that only made things worse. Sure he knew these two weren’t the ones who had hurt them, and yes of course he knew they had done nothing but help them and be agreeable. Yeonjun couldn’t just accept it at face value like this, too many times he had been burned by humans turning on him and showing their true colors.

That was why he couldn’t allow himself to trust them, to hope these two were different instead he would keep them in line, make sure they knew he would hurt them if needed because he was the only one that would. He was pacing for a short while when noise and movement caught his attention and he perked up and made his way back. “Are we ready to leave?” He asked quickly as he looked around only to find Jiyoon and Soobin were gone while Nayun was looking over Kai’s wounds. “Where are they? What’s going on?” Yeonjun asked, whirling around looking as his eyes landed on Taehyun. “Jiyoon wanted to check the new passage that we will be taking on the way back up and Soobin went with her.” Yeonjun was even more annoyed because now he was stuck here babysitting but at least it was a step in the right direction. They were making sure they could move forward, he could live with that. Beomgyu was currently rummaging through Jiyoon’s pack, which she left behind it seemed and that made Yeonjun suspicious again.

“Why’s Jiyoon’s pack still here if she’s scouting?” Yeonjun demanded and he stalked over to watch Nayun. “Beomgyu was hungry so she took the map with her but left behind the bag because she wanted us all to eat something.” It was Kai who answered and he frowned. Beomgyu came over and handed Yeonjun some of the food, which he took but he didn’t eat it right away as he saw Kai making hungry faces. “Here you eat it. I’ll be fine.” Yeonjun said while shoving the food into Kai’s hands who happily looked up at him. “Are you sure Yeonjun?” He asked full of innocence and hope, just like always. “Yeah, I’m not even hungry, it’s fine.” He said with a nod before he moved away from the younger boy in question and instead leaned against the wall and folded his arms across his chest. Kai ran over to where Beomgyu and Taehyun were munching on the rations that Beomgyu had grabbed for them leaving Yeonjun alone against the wall and Nayun where she was sitting.

Jiyoon nodded her head as Soobin said it was fine to make camp, she sat down and started to look over the map once more for an extra moment, her finger trailing the way that should have been the new way back up. Soobin joined her but she didn’t pay much attention until he started talking; she gave him his full attention as he mentioned he overheard they would be taking a longer way around and he asked about how much longer it would take them. “I can only estimate based on what the conditions of the caves were like on our way down but it would only add a few extra hours onto our time. The total time from here to the surface using some of these caves is probably only closer to maybe five or six hours.” She told him and right as she was about to look back down at the map he spoke up again as his eyes caught hers. He told her that they were being chased and that they didn’t have the time to be trekking through the caves right now.

“I figured as much. We heard the gunshots earlier but weren’t close enough to figure out where they were coming from. We found Kai a little while after that, he looked like he had been trying to jump the chasm, I assume he got hit by one or more of those bullets we pulled out of him and he dropped. If he had been human I don’t think he would have survived the drop and he definitely wouldn’t have survived the blood loss either.” She explained before movement from slightly behind and to the side of her caught her attention. Beomgyu was trying to stick his hand in her bag but was now looking up at her with a surprised and startled look, “What are you doing?” She questioned tilting her head slightly as she looked at the younger boy. “I was going to look for food… I’m hungry.” He said with a pout pulling his hand back and cradling it to his chest looking extra pathetic. “Take some then, just don’t eat it all in one go.” She said as she stood up and grabbed her flashlight from the bag, leaving it open.

She started walking off towards the way to the front when Beomgyu started talking, “H-hey wait, where are you going Jiyoon?” He asked, sounding scared and she paused looking back at him. His eyes were wild and frightened as he looked between her and Soobin quickly like he wasn’t sure what was going to happen. “I’m going to take this time to scout ahead a little and make sure none of the other ways are closed off.” She told him before giving him a smile hoping to put him at ease. “Shouldn’t you take your bag in case anything happens?” Beomgyu asked, stepping back away from the bag as if it was going to get him in trouble. “I can move faster and quieter without the bag. I promise I’m not ditching you and the others. Soobin can come with me to make sure I don’t bail or run off or anything if that makes everyone happier and more comfortable.” She offered and the younger boy looked between the two of them. Beomgyu’s eyes went to Soobin, Jiyoon could even read the question in his eyes from this distance away. “Nayun? Could you look over Kai’s wounds real quick.” Jiyoon asked her friend and after she agreed she turned her attention back at hand.

The male in question answered the unspoken question and soon joined her side so she led the way with her flashlight to keep her from tripping or slipping. “I’m sure you don’t need the flashlight. I’m sorry if it hurts your eyes.” She said to him while as she walked down the straight tunnel until they reached a set of branches, she referred to the map before motioning to the rightmost branch. “That’s the one we’re going to scout a little of. I just want to make sure nothing weird has happened like a cave in or anything.” She tells him as they walk into the tunnel, they walk a ways in silence before she glances over at him wondering if he had been hurt at all during their previous escape. “Were you badly hurt?” She wondered, she hadn’t seen any serious wounds but she also hadn’t tried to look over any of the other guys once they had shown up. “Were any of you badly hurt for that matter?” She questioned furrowing her brow slightly as they walked.

She would feel bad if they had neglected any of them even if they had come barreling into their campsite and been threatening. It was understandable, she and Nayun didn’t blame them as they knew exactly what it had looked like; sometimes when you were that worried about someone you lost all sense. “Have you guys been friends - no wait… I think you said you were family, right?” She asked with a quick smile at him remembering his words from earlier. “Have you been family for long?” They were reaching a bend in the tunnel and she glanced down at the map. “Right around this tunnel it should have another set of branches.” She told him as they rounded the corner and seeing nothing immediately weird or wrong, she glanced at the other three tunnels briefly being extra careful. After seeing nothing was amiss she turned the light to the middle left one, “This one will start us on the way up.” She said moving to the mouth of the tunnel and shining her light up the slight incline.

“Should we head up the incline just to make sure it’s not blocked off? After this tunnel any of them will lead up to the main tunnel eventually.” She told him, glancing at him to see what his opinion would be. Sure she wanted to check it out just in case but if he thought it better to head back and pack up camp so they could just get moving she would.

It had been a long time since Sangyeon fell and met back up with his friends on earth. When Sangyeon was an angel he would have assumed that at some point sinning would get boring, that it would get tiresome. He had since learned that sinning never got boring since there was always a new way to have fun especially at college parties or night clubs. Hell even regular bars could be fun; slightly less fun for the more flirty and adventurous of his friends but even they somehow managed to always have a good time. Sangyeon liked to drink, and be social; he enjoyed his time much more whenever he found a pretty girl to flirt and pass time with. Before his fall he hadn’t thought of himself as particularly flirty but that definitely changed sometime afterwards but he couldn’t pinpoint when. They had all changed a lot after their fall, some in more drastic ways and others in less drastic ways, but they had all changed.

“So that new club opened up by the college.” Sunwoo said sitting next to Sangyeon that Friday morning and Sangyeon looked over at him slowly. “It’s finally open?” Sangyeon asked curiously while sipping on his coffee. “Well not exactly. Word on the street is that it’s opening this weekend. Some kind of grand opening or whatever, I was thinking we should check it out and see if we can find any girls.” Sunwoo said with a growing grin. “You specifically like college girls don’t you?” Sangyeon asked with a smirk hidden behind his cup. “Yeah, so what if I do. They are always down for fun when it comes to parties and most of them like being fought for so I see no problem with this situation.” Sunwoo said with a shrug and a cocky smile on his face. “We can bring it up and see if anyone wants to check it out tonight.” He offered and Sunwoo chuckled. “Good to know you’ll be coming too.” Sunwoo said, patting the older one on the shoulder as he stood up from his seat again. “Someone’s got to watch out for your dumb a**.” Sangyeon said jokingly as Sunwoo walked over waving his hand over his shoulder dismissively.

Since the group of boys made a living doing various other kinds of things they didn’t do things like college unless they absolutely had to or unless they wanted to. Some of them did, Sangyeon was one of them, he enjoyed the mundane aspect of learning where-as some of the others; Sunwoo for example did not. After a little while the others started to move around the house they lived in, once everyone was settled into the kitchen or living room together he figured now was as good of a time to bring up the club as any. “So Sunwoo’s heard that the new night club over by the college is opening this weekend and that tonight is the first night it will open up. He wants to go.” Sangyeon explains with a smile putting his hands into his pockets and leaning against the wall of the room watching as everyone looks at either him or Sunwoo. “Sangyeon’s coming too.” Sunwoo supplied with a cheeky grin as he sat back in his chair. “Yeah okay. Sounds better than staying cooped up inside tonight.” Hyunjae said with a nod of his head.

Overall a handful had agreed to come and some wanted to stay home, Sangyeon was a little surprised by New wanting to go but it wasn’t completely uncommon either. The day passed by, Sangyeon went to classes with some of the others before he made his way back home and got ready for the club. He showered, did his hair, dressed nicely in a button up and jeans, he rolled the sleeves up to his elbow before he put on cologne and got his wallet. Night was falling and he made his way into the kitchen to get a blood bag before they went out for the night. “The disconnect is real sometimes.” Jacob chuckled as he came into the kitchen and Sangyeon faced him. “What do you mean?” He asked and Jacob smiled. “You and Sunwoo, he’s out there looking like mister bad boy gonna steal your girl meanwhile here you are looking sleek and rich. Are you sure you two are going to the same club?” Kevin piped in with a grin as he made his way into the kitchen also. “You know we all have our unique styles.” Sangyeon says with a laugh and a shrug as he finishes the blood bag and throws it in the trash.

Once everyone was finished getting ready to head to the club the group of them left their house, they headed towards the college and soon enough found the club. The line was moving quickly as they got in the back, before they knew it they were at the front of the line heading inside. Sangyeon moved over to the bar to order drinks for the guys, he got the pitcher of beer and five cups and made his way over to where he found the guys had grabbed a table. The music was loud, it felt like it was pumping through his veins as he arrived and set down the pitcher and cups and that was when he noticed that Sunwoo was already gone. “Where did Sunwoo go?” He asked unamused, which made Hyunjae laugh. “You know Sunwoo.” Hyunjae said with a shrug as he grabbed the pitcher of beer and poured himself a glass before Sangyeon took over filling the others. “Well if you see him, point him out at least.” Sangyeon said while taking a drink of his. The boys enjoyed their time, eventually they ended up separated in the club, dancing, flirting basically whatever they felt like doing tonight.

Sangyeon ended up at the bar again after a while to get a drink for himself, by this point the others could buy their own drinks if they wanted them. He ended up standing next to this beautiful woman, he couldn’t keep her eyes off her. “I’ve never seen someone as beautiful as you around here before. Are you new to town or have I just been blind?” He asked as he turned to look at her while waiting for his chance to order his drink. The bartender came over at that exact time and he ordered his drink before motioning to the woman with him. “I’ll pay for whatever she’d like too.” He said with a smile. The bartender made their drinks before handing them over and he paid before moving to step away from the bar so others could get in to order. “You don’t have to feel obligated to talk to me because I bought your drink. It’s an honor just being able to buy a gorgeous girl like yourself a drink.” He was honest, he also wasn’t exactly hurting for attention, several girls had talked to him and while she was the one he wanted to talk to he wouldn’t get pushy about it. “I’m Sangyeon.” He said with another charming smile, this time offering his hand out to her.

“I want to go to the club tonight.” Namgil rushed out as she burst into Doyun’s room after classes and Doyun slowly turned to look at her roommate and friend who was huffing at the door. “Are you okay Namgil?” Doyun asked, standing up and rushing over to her friend. “Yeah I just… I really want to go. Yuna mentioned it and I think Jinhee wanted to go and we all know that you don’t like that kind of scene but I just… I want to go please?” Namgil explained, ringing her hands together nervously. “Well… if you want to go that badly we can go to the club tonight.” Doyun slowly agreed, she wasn’t here to be a buzz kill for her friends; she was there to keep them safe which usually meant no dressing up or drinking for her. To some people she probably looked like that one friend who didn’t want to be around and while that wasn’t exactly wrong it wasn’t for the same reason. You see, Doyun was in charge of keeping her friends and the college safe from any potential supernatural creatures.

“Wait really?” Namgil asked her, looking wide eyed and the very image of innocence. “Yeah of course. Let’s tell Yuna and Jinhee that we’re hitting the club tonight.” Doyun said with a nod making her way back over to where her phone was on her desk, she quickly typed up a message and sent it to their group chat. “I don’t know what to wear for something like this.” Namgil said softly as their friends replied back. “We can ask if Yuna and Jinhee want to come over and get ready, our place is closer anyways.” Doyun said with a smile as she typed another message out. The four girls got ready, Doyun was fully intending to wear pants or shorts like she normally would, however Yuna and the girls had managed to get her into this black corset like bodycon dress and some heels. “Why am I in this again?” Doyun asked as she came out of her bedroom and into the living room. “Yuna said you’d look hot. That’s why.” Namgil said with a giggle and Doyun found the youngest in a sweet white off the shoulder dress.

“I feel like some kind of harlot and Namgil over here is a vision of innocence.” Doyun said, shaking her head a little with a sigh. She couldn’t believe she had let her friends talk her into an outfit like this, how was she supposed to fight anyone if something came up? They left the apartment and made their way towards the club with their purses, inside had credit cards and ID’s and some of them had lipsticks and phones. No, all of them had their phone’s since Doyun made sure, just in case they got separated that night. They got in line and soon enough were inside the building, they got their drinks right away and then found a booth in the corner to set their drinks on. Yuna took off right away to go and dance before Jinhee and Namgil eventually went off after her to join her, Doyun didn’t mind staying at the table as she leaned back against it and drank from her drink. She could feel eyes on her, she usually wasn’t one for being the center of attention but somehow this person’s gaze on her, whoever they were made her feel wanted. Sexy even.

She was trying to figure out what exactly she wanted to do, did she want to stay here at the table the whole time or did she want to get up and join her friends. Yuna had told her to lighten up and relax and just have fun, that she deserved it. Yuna was the only one who knew what Doyun really did, which is also why Doyun is the only one that knows that Yuna’s a witch. A throat clearing next to her had her looking up, this guy was gross and she knew exactly what was on his mind with the way he was practically devouring her. “Here by yourself?” He asked, stepping closer to her. “I’m here with friends.” Doyun said, pulling up her best uninterested expression. “I don’t see any of them here with you though. You must be lonely all by yourself. Let me keep you company.” He trapped her body against the table and his hand was sliding up the outside of her thigh. “No thank you, keep your hands to yourself.” Doyun said, knocking his hand off her leg with a huff and he scowled. “Listen here, just be quiet if you know what’s good for you and-” He started but she didn’t let him finish as she quickly kneed him in the crotch and watched him drop like a sack of potatoes.

“I don’t need company like yours. Now get out of my sight.” Doyun was well known for coming off bitchy when she wanted and this situation was no different as she watched the scumbag scramble up off the floor. He ran off hunched over and she sighed, her good mood was ruined so she took another big gulp of her drink as he eyes scanned the dance floor for her friends. A part of her wanted her friends to come back and trade her places but also a part of her wanted to just leave and go back home; she’d come back when the girls were ready to come home so that someone was sober at least. But she knew she wouldn’t just abandon them.

Sunwoo was glad that Sangyeon had agreed to bring up the club to the others, he didn’t mind going by himself but it was always more fun with friends just in case he didn’t find anyone to dance or flirt with. Or a reason to pick a fight and get kicked out. He lazed about the day at the house, some of the others went to classes or worked or whatever it was that they did. When night started to fall he showered and got ready, all black, ripped jeans and his leather jacket but added plenty of accessories. He sprayed cologne before he left his room meeting up with Hyunjae who had agreed to go too, Hyunjae chuckled as he looked Sunwoo over. “What?” He asked curiously. “Looking for trouble?” Hyunjae asked with a growing smile. “I’m trouble and people come looking for me.” Sunwoo says with a smug smirk and a shrug of his shoulders which only made Hyunjae laugh at him. “You aren’t wrong.” He finally agreed as they made their way into the living room where some of the others were hanging out.

“Sangyeon just went into the kitchen looking like he’s about to head out for an expensive date and Sunwoo here looks like he’s going to get on his motorcycle and commit a crime.” Eric said with a mischievous grin making everyone in the room laugh along as Sunwoo shrugged again. “I’ll pull off the biggest crime of the century tonight.” Sunwoo said with a grin playing into it with the others. “What’s that? Boring some girl to death?” Changmin asked playfully and Sunwoo looked dramatically shocked putting his hand over his chest. "No by stealing her heart.” Sunwoo said, which made everyone break out into laughter again and Sunwoo looked unimpressed. “Yeah right, you don’t want some girl to love you. You’d hate to be tied down.” Kevin said with a chuckle shaking his head in disbelief. “I could do it, it’s just hard, girls are superficial.” Sunwoo said with a sniff rubbing his nose. “Yeah that’s because you’re always going after some drunk party girl.” Jacob said, shaking his head.

“Yeah well maybe I won’t talk to any drunk party girls tonight!” Sunwoo exclaimed feeling a little annoyed that his friends really thought he wasn’t capable of being in a relationship. “Yeah yeah.” Eric said with a grin. Sunwoo huffed and made his way into the kitchen to get a blood bag, he ripped into it with a frown downing it as he thought about how his friends were acting. He hated being told he wasn’t capable of things. He just hadn’t ever wanted a serious relationship or any serious ties before, that didn’t mean he wasn’t capable. He was pulled from his thoughts as everyone was finished getting ready for the club and was ready to go so he quickly finished his bag before throwing it away and joining the others. It was always a good idea to top up when you were about to surround yourself with all the tasty humans and get drunk, you didn’t want an accident happening after all.

The last thing they needed was to slip up, make a big mistake like that and have to completely move towns, or even countries. They have had to do that several times in the beginning of their fall, he remembered how tedious it was constantly moving around after such an event. He didn’t want to have to do that again, his mind full of these thoughts as the group walked to the club and got in line. He must have been deeply distracted since he didn’t remember the line moving at all and then suddenly they were inside the club. He made his way with the others to a table before he quickly made his way onto the dance floor, he danced here and there with a few girls but he knew they were the party girl or attention seeking type so he kept it only a dance or two. He made his way up to the bar at one point ready to order a drink when he saw this really pretty girl getting cornered by the bathrooms.

He hadn’t even ordered his drink so he made his way over grabbing the guys shoulder and pulling him off the girl, he stepped between the girls and this guy who seemed like he was drunk already. “Ay man, what are you doing? I’m just talking to her.” He slurred and Sunwoo sighed in annoyance. “She doesn’t seem like she wants to talk to you so leave her alone.” Sunwoo said, crossing his arms over his chest and glaring at the guy who seemed to be thinking about it a little too hard. “I said beat it!” Sunwoo said acting like he was going to lunge at the man who flinched backwards and tripped over his feet before running off. Sunwoo nodded his head as he saw the man retreat and he turned to look over the girl once more. “You good? I hope you don’t mind me stepping in. Looked like you needed some help.” He said with a smile coming to his face as he shoved his hands into his pockets.

“You here with some friends?” He asked looking around trying to see if anyone was coming their way or looking for her. “You really shouldn’t be left on your own in a place like this if you aren’t used to it.” He said while bringing his eyes back to look at her once more. She definitely didn’t look like the type who was a huge party girl, not that she looked like a nerd or anything either; she just stood out to him as someone who wasn’t used to a place like this. “I can stay out here and wait for you and when you’re done I can help you get back to your friends. Once you’re safe I’ll feel better about leaving your side.” He told her while moving across from the bathrooms where he leaned against the wall and nodded to her to go ahead and go in. He stood there, waving off a girl or two who were trying to make their way over to him from the bar, now wasn’t the time for something like this and when the girl he had saved made her way back out he realized he didn’t know her name.

“What’s your name? I’m Sunwoo.” He asked as he stepped to her side, he had no idea who she came with since he hadn’t seen her at all. “If you see any of your friends just point them out and we’ll make our way over to them.” He said as they walked, he would have no choice but to rely on her to point out her friends. Eventually they made their way through the dance floor after she pointed out one of her friends and Sunwoo was very surprised to find one of her friends talking to New on the edges of the dance floor. “Is this one of your friends?” He asked surprised and when she said yes he barely held back a laugh, how interesting that one of her friends would be with one of his. “Hey Chanhee.” Sunwoo said, slinging his arm over the older boy's shoulder with a smile as the girls joined up together. “You’re safe with one of your friends now Jinhee. It was nice to meet you. If you're good now, I’ll let you get back to having fun.” Sunwoo offered with a smile and he fully expected her to say she was okay but the other girl started talking instead.

Namgil couldn’t believe that she had managed to talk Doyun into going to that new night club, but she was glad since she always felt much safer when the four of them were together. Doyun and Yuna always just made her feel safe and not judged, she was always allowed to just be herself and they accepted her which was very hard to come by. She knew from her own fractured home life just how rare that was. She stood in front of her closet after Doyun agreed, staring into the depths of her clothes with a small frown. What did someone even wear to a club like this? She fretted until Yuna and Jinhee showed up and she asked Yuna for help finding something appropriate to wear, after that Yuna, Jinhee and Namgil lightly bullied Doyun into wearing something more appropriate. Mostly Yuna though.

Namgil got dressed in the cream slightly off the shoulder sweater dress, something that she had never actually worn before and she had no idea where it had come from. But it made her feel pretty, and that was ultimately what she thought made Yuna and the others agree on this dress for her. They did her makeup and hair before giving her some heels and the four girls started the trek from Doyun and Namgil’s apartment to the club. It was only two blocks away, so even if they were drinking and dancing it wouldn’t be too far - well that was the hope at least. Namgil was definitely innocent, she’d never really drank before, she couldn’t talk for Jinhee but she definitely knew that Doyun and Yuna could hold their own. Which was probably why Namgil was so keen on trying something like this with her friends, she wanted the typical college moments like partying but she wasn’t social like Yuna was. She was kind of weird to some people and they seemed to get overwhelmed by her passion for all things folklore.

Namgil and Jinhee were placed between Yuna and Doyun, who was standing at the back of the group with Yuna at the front which made Namgil wonder why. Before she could ask any questions the line was moving and the girls were inside before they knew it. It was so much more than she had expected, the place was surprisingly big on the inside, with flashing and pulsing lights and loud pounding music. The four girls went to the bar to get their drinks and she let Yuna order for her not knowing anything about this world and how to navigate it. After that they made their way to a table, Yuna dropped her drink off and went off to the dance floor right away leaving Doyun, Jinhee and Namgil at the table. Namgil wanted to dance but she also didn’t want to leave Doyun or Jinhee behind to watch the table and drinks, they were all supposed to have a good time tonight. “You two go ahead and go dance.” Doyun urged with a smile, Namgil pouted a little, how was it that she always seemed to be able to read her worries.

“I’ll be fine here with the drinks, no one will touch them while I’m here. You two go dance and have fun, if you run into any trouble at all just come back here to the table with me.” Doyun said and after a shared look with Jinhee they finally left Doyun to herself. The two girls got onto the dance floor and slowly started to dance. Namgil was trying to catch sight of Yuna but the more outgoing girl was probably in the middle of the dance floor. Neither of them were adept enough for that kind of a challenge, and after a little while of dancing Jinhee said she had to go to the bathroom, they were both walking over when Namgil bumped into someone. She stopped walking for a brief moment, turning to face the guy she had bumped into only to be met with the most sweet face she’d ever seen. “Are you an angel? No no you’re too sweet for just an angel hm an elf perhaps but no I don’t see any pointy ears. A fairy! I could see you being a fae.” She mumbled excitedly before blushing as she realized she had been spouting off about her supernatural stuff again instead of apologizing for bumping into him.

“I mean I’m so sorry for bumping into you.” She rushed a blush crossing her cheeks as she ducked her head trying to hide behind her hair before looking around for Jinhee, only her friend was nowhere in sight. “Oh no.” She mumbled forlornly to herself as she chewed on her bottom lip as she glanced to the other end of the club where the tables were. She could go all the way back and grab Doyun to help her find Jinhee or she could just buck up and try to keep making her way to where the bathrooms were. “Um, I hate to bother you but do you know where the bathrooms are? My friend was heading that way…” She trailed off as she turned back to face this guy, gosh he was just so pretty that she didn’t want to take her eyes off him. He had soft features that were somehow both feminine and masculine at the same time, partly why he felt so otherworldly to her. His question startled her out of staring at him and she felt her cheeks blush more, gosh how much more could she endure tonight?

“N-no it’s okay. If you could just point me in the way?” She tried to tell him before she was bumped into behind sending her bumping into his chest. The only thing that kept her from flying face first to the floor was actually him, how did he seem to not move in the mass of bodies around them? She blushed further and took a step back away from him, was it always this hot inside a club or was she just that embarrassed? “I’m Namgil, it’s nice to meet you.” She finally said willing herself to stop blushing as she looked around them hoping to see Yuna or Jinhee. Suddenly someone was wrapping an arm around Chanhee greeting him and she grabbed Jinhee in relief. “Jinhee! I’m so sorry I lost you.” She cried out over the music looking over her friend with worry. “Did you get into trouble?” She asked before turning to look at the guy that was with Chanhee who was saying that he’d leave Jinhee alone now that she was back with her but all Namgil wanted was to go back to Doyun and the table.

“A-actually! Could you take us back to where our other friend is at the table?” She asked while gripping onto Jinhee and looking at the other girl hoping that she’d come back to Doyun with her. “I mean I don’t have a problem with that, you Chanhee?” This guy asked his friend, she assumed and she stared at him; one part of her hoping that he would agree and the other part hoping that he would refuse. He agreed, and the four of them slowly waded through the mass of bodies heading back towards where Doyun was at their table. “So.. how did you meet Jinhee?” She asked curiously while holding onto Jinhee’s arm so they wouldn’t get separated again. “Some guy was harassing her and I stepped in to help out, I’m Sunwoo and you are?” He asked his eyes looking her over passively, she kind of felt like she was being judged in some way but he just grinned with what she assumed was good nature. “Namgil, thank you for helping Jinhee.” They made it out of the dance floor and she found Doyun had some guy talking to her, she pointed Doyun out to the two guys. “That’s our friend, thank you so much!” Namgil explained and Sunwoo laughed, his eyes sparkling in mischief. “That’s one of our other friend’s too.”

Eui woke up that morning laying in her plush bed, life was good when you had a cushion of wealth to support you; or at least that was what the newspaper headlines would have you believe about the Dokgo family. According to the news everything was easy for them, which wasn’t exactly true. They had their own struggles to attend to; just not ones that were made public. She sighed as she got out of bed and made her way into her bathroom, today was the day where her father would be introducing her and her sister to their new bodyguards. It was ‘dangerous’, ‘out of his reach’ and he ‘couldn’t keep them safe’ according to their father, sure it was out of town but they were well known names by now. Even if someone decided to target the two sisters, they would have a hard time when they were busy and always surrounded by a lot of people. Unless whoever it was got smart and filled the whole building with people who were in on it; it seemed highly unlikely.

If Dokgo Kwang was anything, it was a meticulous and paranoid man, luckily neither of the sisters had inherited that aspect from their father. His ambitiousness? Absolutely. His stubbornness? More than likely. Both girls were headstrong and according to their father, a force to be reckoned with just like their late mother. She had died when they were little and neither girl had much memory of her, only having a handful of photos from before they were born and a few after they were born also. They still didn’t know exactly what happened, it was just a tragic accident that happened one day; even the newspapers didn’t have any news on it. Nor the police. The two girls had checked, wanting answers but it seemed like everywhere they turned for help couldn’t help them- or wouldn’t. It felt like everything surrounding the death of their mother was covered up or that no one was allowed to talk about it; specifically to them.

Eui showered, letting her mind wander to the itinerary for the day beyond that meeting with their father, which would happen sooner rather than later luckily. They had some work to do checking on designs and looking over fabric for that new fashion show they had coming up. The models for the runway event would be arriving through the week for finalizing the fittings and any last minute changes before the event the week after. They still had a lot to finalize before the day of the event, makeup and hair and making sure all the models were comfortable walking the runway in their clothes. Yes it was high fashion but that didn’t mean they had to be uncomfortable - or expensive; the girls tried to keep everything in perspective while pricing the clothes. Clothes were meant to be worn by people after all, and to them it should be all people, not just the wealthy lining the pockets of the wealthy. They were on the higher end of affordability due to the materials they used to make the clothing, but it was more like a month of savings rather than a year to be able to afford the items.

Eui pulled from her thoughts as she finished her shower, dressing for the day in a pantsuit after she blow dried her hair and put on some makeup. She was putting on her usual earrings, rings and watch when a knock sounded on the door to her bedroom. “Miss Eui?” A maids' voice rang through the closed door. Eui made her way over and opened the door smiling at the woman who smiled back at her before she spoke. “How can I help you?” Eui asked, wondering if it was already time to meet the bodyguards before breakfast. “Your father has requested you and your sister to join him in his study, after that breakfast is waiting for you both in the dining room.” She informed Eui while standing there and watching her, Eui sighs a little. Was it so terrible to grab some breakfast before business started? Apparently so. “I’ll be right there, I’m just grabbing my things for the day.” Eui said, turning her back to the woman.

She crossed the room slipping on the heels she had planned on wearing for the day before grabbing the designs spread out of her table by the window and placing them into her usual briefcase. Eui made her way back to the open door of her bedroom where the maid was still standing and waiting for her; By the door was her coat rack where she grabbed her blazer jacket and her purse from before stepping out into the hallway and shutting the door behind her. “Is Haeun already awake and waiting?” Eui asked curiously but the maid shook her head slightly before answering. “I don’t know Miss Eui, I was sent to get you while someone else was sent for your sister.” She answered as they walked down the hallway. They made it to the stairs before heading down to the first floor, they went the opposite way to where the kitchen was; the lingering smell of food haunting and teasing her hungry stomach.

They made it to the office of Kwang Dokgo and the maid knocked on the door, when they heard his voice tell them to enter the maid opened the door with a bow before motioning Eui through the door. Eui walked in, her eyes scanning the room where she found her father standing in front of his desk talking to two guys she had never seen before, her fathers two bodyguards back behind his desk by the window and no sign of Haeun yet. “Eui! Good for you to join us finally.” Kwang said with a bright smile to his oldest daughter as she made her way over to him. “Good morning.” She told him giving him a kiss on the cheek as she had all her life and he smiled brightly at her. “Let’s wait until your sister joins us and then I will introduce you to our guests.” Kwang said, motioning for her to take a seat on one of the couches in his office. Eui sat down and pulled out her phone, checking through her calendar and looking over her day; to anyone who didn’t know any better it looked like she was just on her phone.

Taemin and Kai had been working on getting close to the Dokgo Mafia for months now, close to a year actually; all that hard work was finally paying off. “Do you know why he’s calling you into his office this time?” Baekhyun asked, looking at him and Kai. “Some kind of job, we think. He's been really quiet about the whole thing and none of his guards will tell us what it's about either.” Taemin explained. “You know for sure that he doesn’t suspect anything?” Baekhyun asked with a slight frown. “No, we’ve both been very careful. No one suspects anything.” Taemin said with a shake of his head, there wasn’t a shadow of a doubt in his mind; their cover wasn’t blown. “Alright, well let me know what’s going on as soon as you can.” Baekhyun said with a nod to his two best members. Taemin turned around and left the building with Kai, the Byun Mafia was just as influential and powerful as the Dokgo one the only difference was that the Byun Family wasn’t willing to slaughter innocents.

Taemin and Kai went in separate cars, it was easier to keep people none the wiser on things. They drove to the Dokgo estate, where the cars and themselves were checked at the gate and then again at the front door. It seemed like overkill to anyone looking on but this was pretty standard procedure when new people were coming in and out of your family home. “Taemin, Kai. You’re early. Good.” The head of security said, making his way over. “Yes sir, ready for our assignment.” He said with a smile. “Kwang is in his office and he will be telling you what he wants the two of you to do.” He explained while turning and leading the way from the foyer down the hallway and to the office of Kwang Dokgo. The head of security knocked on the door twice and then after an answer he opened the door and let the two into the room before shutting the door behind him. “Taemin and Kai are here, sir.” He informed the man who stood up with a smile.

“Taemin! Kai! Wonderful to see you again.” He said while moving around his desk with an outstretched hand, Taemin took it with his own smile and he shook it. “Good to see you again also.” He replied. He moved to the side as Kai shook his hand and then he turned to face the two men as he leaned a hip slightly against his desk. “I’m glad the two of you are still interested in working with us.” Kwang said while slipping his hands into his pockets, the picture of ease. “Of course, sir. How can we help you?” Taemin asked, he was dying to know what the job would be. “Of course, you see my daughters will be heading out of town next week for something trivial but they are insistent upon going, I’d like the two of you to stay with them at all times.” Kwang explained. Baby sitting, of course it was babysitting. The two guys had only caught sight of the Dokgo daughters a handful of times as they were in and out of the house often.

He had no idea what they did, it didn’t really matter to him. “We would be honored to watch over your daughters while they are away.” Taemin explained with a smile. “I’ll have the maids grab the girls and bring them down as soon as they are ready.” The head of security left the room. That left Kwang, his two bodyguards by the windows and Taemin and Kai; it was such a tempting setup but now wasn’t the time. They didn’t have enough information yet. “Kai, I’d like you to shadow and watch over my eldest daughter while Taemin, I’d like you to watch over the youngest. Both girls are ambitious and headstrong and I’m sure the two of you will have a fun time trying to keep them out of trouble.” Kwang said with a chuckle. Did they know about the family business after all then? The two had previously written the two daughters off as spoiled socialites, but the way he expected them to get into trouble made him curious.

“Now I want the two of you with my girls at all times, I trust the two of you to be professional about all this. My girls are beautiful, just as much as their mother was, may she rest in peace and I trust you two to keep them safe. No funny business.” He said sternly looking between the two of them. “Of course sir, no funny business. We wouldn’t even dream of it.” Taemin was being honest, they had no room in their lives for some spoiled rich girls let alone ones from the rival mafia that they were trying to destroy. A knock on the door sounded, was one of the daughters here already? Taemin wondered, turning to look at the door as Kwang told them to come in, the blonde daughter made her way in and kissed her father, greeting him. This was the closest either of them had seen her up close, his eye caught the briefcase that she had with her as he listened to the father-daughter exchange. What could be in that?

She was instructed to sit down while they waited for her sister, he kept her in sight as they went back to talking business with Dokgo. It wasn’t long before the second daughter showed up, her dark hair contrasting against the light haired one as she greeted her father also. “Good now that the two of you are here. Eui, my eldest, meet Kai. Your new bodyguard. Haeun, this is Taemin, your new bodyguard.” Kwang said motioning to the two girls and to each of the guys. So Taemin was left with the younger, dark haired sister; that was fine with him. “It’s nice to meet you. I’ll be keeping you safe.” He said with a smile as he held out his hand to her. “Is that all?” The eldest asked straightforwardly and Kwang chuckled whole heartedly. b“Yes yes, you four are free to go.” Kwang said dismissing them. Taemin followed the dark haired girl wherever it was she was going, which turned out to be the dining room where two plates were laid out.

He had a quick, small breakfast this morning of an energy bar since they had been called to a meeting with Baekhyun and then right after they had a strict time frame to be here for this as well. “Have either of you two eaten?” The eldest asked as she set her things down at one of the plates and he debated on what to say when Kai answered. “Then you two can join us for breakfast, tell the maids what you’d like and they will whip it up shortly.” She told the two of them as she leaned over to talk with the younger one about something as the two bodyguards were seated across from them at the table. He told the maid something simple, not feeling exactly comfortable with this whole idea as he listened to the girls talk between eating. He had no idea what they were talking about. What was this about a business?

Hyunjae had just finished her usual day at work within the castle, night had fallen and she was finished with her duties and was thankful to be heading to bed. “Hyunjae? Good, you haven’t retired to your room for the night yet.” Jungmin spoke as he knocked on the door to her library. “No, I was just cleaning up the last of the books. How can I help you?” She asked curiously. “Our lord is requesting you by name in the throne room.” Jungmin says but he’s trying to hold back a smile. “Have I done something to displease him?” She asked, a little worried. She had never met their liege face to face before in all her years of working for him and tending to his vast library and books. “I’ll leave that for him to tell you.” Jungmin said with a chuckle as he motioned for her to join him. She made her way over starting to feel her nerves rising, what could he possibly want with someone like her?

The two of them made their way through the hallways towards the throne room, the building felt strangely like a ghost town, deathly quiet as if everyone was hiding. She had never felt this kind of atmosphere before, especially at night like this. As they arrived at the double doors to the throne room Jungmin pushed them open with a loud creak, sitting on the throne at the back of the room was their Lord Chungae. Before him was a man down on one knee, his head bowed so low that Hyunjae couldn’t see it as she continued to follow Jungmin over. “Wonderful, thank you Jungmin for bringing Hyunjae to us. You may leave.” Lord Chungae said with a smile as he waved the man that was his steward away. “Yes my lord.” Jungmin said with a bow before backing away and turning to leave, once the doors had shut she curtsied to Chungae and kept her face lowered even as she stood back up.

“The two of you are so stiff. Stand up Youngjo and Hyunjae please don’t look at the floor like that. I’m not going to punish you for looking at me.” He said chuckling and Hyunjae slowly looked up as the man a few steps away stood as well. “I’m sure you are wondering why I have called for you Hyunjae.” Chungae spoke with a fond smile and she could only bring herself to nod her head a little. “You’re good with children, yes? I seem to recall you playing with the children in the courtyards and reading to them occasionally in the library before they go to bed.” Chungae spoke with a thoughtful look on his face. “I’m sorry my lord, if it displeases you I’ll stop. I would like to point out however that I’ve never slacked on my duty to the royal library despite playing with the children and reading to them.” Hyunjae spoke, this must have been it. The reason why she had been called here, but why was this subject matter so important and why did it have to be brought up in front of this stranger?

“Not at all my dear!” Chungae spoke looking surprised and a little alarmed. “My dear girl, you aren’t in trouble. Quite the contrary as I need you to accompany Youngjo here on a very serious mission.” He told her, motioning to the man who stood next to her silent, his eyes on their lord. “Excuse my ignorance, my lord but who, exactly, is Youngjo and why am I being sent with him?” Hyunjae asked a slight furrow between her brows as she looked between the two men. “Youngjo is my most trusted and faithful servant, he has been cursed because of his involvement in a mission I sent him on a few months before you joined our staff which is why you’ve never seen or heard of him.” Chungae explained a small frown on his face. “I won’t tell you anything further since it’s Youngjo’s story to tell however we need a caretaker to watch over a young child, a boy to be exact and we need him to be learned and taught about a great many things while he is traveling with Youngjo and a handful of others.”

“And you think I’m the best person for this, my lord?” Hyunjae wondered aloud and watched as Chungae chuckled. “Yes, since you have joined my staff as head librarian all of the servants have changed, all of them have gained a better understanding in etiquette. On top of that I see the way that on your days off you travel to the village and I have heard that you teach my people how to read and write. You have gone out of your way to enrich the lives of my people in ways that no one else has ever thought and I need someone who has a way with children, who is soft and caring but unafraid and loyal.” Chungae explained seriously as he stared at her. “My lord, while many of those things are correct I hate to tell you that just like anyone else I do get afraid, I was troubled just walking here with Jungmin because of the uncertainty of what was about to happen.” Hyunjae wasn’t afraid to admit when she was scared, it was a natural way of life but that didn’t mean it ever held her back from doing things.

“There’s no shame in being afraid or scared but you don’t even let it stop you and for this mission with Youngjo I need someone like you.” He explained seriously with a frown, he looked troubled before he sighed and rubbed a hand on his face. “This is a dangerous mission, you will be in a fairly constant state of danger. Those who are traveling with Youngjo are there to keep the child safe, and your job is to help keep the child calm and teach him all the things that he will need to know. They are not necessarily there to protect you, I must admit. However, none of them would intentionally put you in any harm either.” Chungae explained his eyes glancing over to Youngjo and Hyunjae couldn’t help but turn to the side to look at the quiet man as well. He hadn’t said anything up to this point since she had joined them but now he spoke up, his voice was serious as he spoke and while he was blunt with the words he spoke she found that she didn’t feel scared by the fact that danger was hunting them.

“I see. I don’t have much choice in this but I accept. When should I be expecting to leave?” She questions expecting Chungae to tell her in the morning however Youngjo spoke instead telling her that they would be leaving as soon as she was finished packing. “I see. Very well, my lord may I take a handful of books from your royal librarian to help me teach the young boy?” Hyunjae knew it was a bold question but right away Chungae was nodding his hand. “Take whatever you need from the castle for your journey with Youngjo. He and the others have some food on hand, he will be taking back some more food from us but if you want to bring some of your own please feel free to look through the kitchen.” Chungae spoke, pretty much giving Hyunjae free reign to grab the things she needed within reason of course. “Thank you. I’ll go pack my things, should I meet you back here Youngjo?” She questioned, wondering where would be best for him.

After he answered she nodded and excused herself from the throne room, she made her way back to her room where she found a large bag on her bed and a small note. ‘For your upcoming journey, it’s not much. Lord Chungae has also issued you ownership of your favorite horse within the royal stable. I know which one it is and I will have him ready for your departure. - Jungmin.’ Hyunjae smiled and quickly grabbed the clothes that she would need, she wore mostly long skirts in the castle but she had quite a few pants put away from when she traveled to the village so she grabbed those and quickly rolled them up and placed them in the bag. She grabbed shirts and anything else that she might need clothing wise, including her traveling cape which was dark blue in color, she changed from her librarian clothes and wore some pants, and a nice blouse with her riding shoes before putting on her cape. She grabbed the bag and looked around the room, she had no idea when she would be back; if ever. She left the room and made her way to the library, she quickly grabbed a handful of books that she thought would be helpful.

Geography and Politics, a few children's books before grabbing two empty journals and an ink-pot with a quill. She felt like keeping track of what this journey would encounter felt like the thing to do, she left and finally made it to the kitchen after carefully packing the books into her bag. Waiting in the kitchen were several of the older staff, they were teary eyed as they saw her; rushing to her to hold her tightly. “We’re going to miss seeing your smiling face every day.” One woman said softly wiping her eyes after she stopped back from a hug. “And I you.” Hyunjae said with a soft smile looking around at the three women who all had become like a mother for her in their own unique ways. “This was my daughter’s before she died, I kept it but couldn’t bear to wear it myself but since you have become like a daughter to me and I know that my daughter would have loved it. It only felt right to give you this before you left.” It was a beautiful silver hair stick, with a blue glass sphere on the top.

The woman turned Hyunjae around and quickly pulled up her hair securing it with the hair-stick before allowing her to face them again. One of the other women held out a medium sized bundle which Hyunjae assumed was full of food as she took it. “Thank you all.” Hyunjae said as they each gave her one last hug and she was shooed out of the kitchen before they started crying again, she smiled sadly hearing them sniffle and sob before she made her way to the meeting point with Youngjo.

Unlike the others he was doing this mission with he no longer had a monarch to report back too, he had received news that they had been under siege while he was gone. The whole place was destroyed and while Seoho had the child with him safe to take him to his lord for the moment as everyone checked in, Leedo wasn’t sure what to do with himself. Did he go to his old lord and check to see if anything was left? To see if anyone had survived? To see if any news was left? He stayed in place even after the others had left, before he turned around with a heavy sigh moments after they were all out of sight. He urged his horse along, heading back to where he was sure ruin would await him; what he expected to find even he didn’t know. He made his way through the forest silently, he listened all around him; he avoided any towns and villages that he might come across. The last thing he needed was to put more people in danger from those who hunted for the child.

He was in no rush, there was currently no danger. He enjoyed the natural sounds around him, the hooting of the owls in the night, the occasional howl of a wolf, the chirping of crickets and other bug noises. The crunch of the grass below his horse’s hooves, the rustling of the wind through the tree branches and some of the bushes as animals rushed through or around them and into hiding. It was quiet, it was peaceful, forming a kind of balm over his wounded and aching heart for those who have lost their lives in this quest to keep the child safe. A whiff of smoke caught his attention and he stopped his horse, it was way too much smoke to just be a campfire or to be someone cooking something. No this was a town or village being burnt down; he hurried his horse into a run rushing head long through the trees.

After a few short minutes the burst out into a clearing, sure enough the place was on fire but it looked like he might have been too late since he saw no one trying to put out fires and several unmoving bodies on the darkened ground. “Hello?” He called out jumping off the horse and running into the edge of the village. “Hello! Is anyone still alive here?” He called out while moving around the village looking and listening for any signs of anyone being alive. It wasn’t a good chance but he had to try as he continued calling out around him. “If you can hear me shout!” He yelled cupping his hands over his mouth before he shut his eyes and used his enhanced hearing to listen for something; anything. After what felt like forever he heard a cough, faint and possibly feminine and his eyes snapped open looking off in the direction he was sure it came from.

He ran over to the burning building, the coughing was getting louder and the woman inside was weakly calling out for help. He ran over trying the door but it was locked or blocked from the inside, that was weird but he didn’t have any chance to think as he quickly looked for another way in. After a run around the building he found a window, it was closed and seemed to be boarded up but it was the closest bet. He backed up and ran forwards jumping head first through the window, the momentum and strength behind him had him crashing through the window easily. He rolled across the floor narrowly avoiding some kind of furniture that was on fire, the roof above creaking as the wooden beams continued to weaken. “Hello?” He called out again, he listened over the roaring fire, ignoring the hot and stuffy air and how it burned breathing it.

If it bothered him to breathe he could only imagine how much worse it was for some human, he listened for her and after a few minutes heard her again. He rushed to where the sound was coming from, ducking under burning beams of the roof that had already started to cave in. He found a bedroom by the looks of it, the bed on fire and burning hotter than he expected and in the corner was a wardrobe with a burning beam blocking it. So that was why. He had wondered what could have happened. He shoved the fiery beam ignoring the burns and splitters lodging into his hands as he moved it out of the way before opening the wardrobe that was just, luckily, starting to catch fire. He found the woman huddled in the corner and quickly but carefully grabbed her pulling her from the quickly engulfing closet. He swept her up into his arms and rushed back to the window he had come in through, he quickly placed her out, setting her on her feet.

After she had moved aside he hopped out easily, he grabbed her by the arm dragging her away as the roof started to come down catching fire and making a wave of heat hit them from behind. He brought her to his horse at the edge of the village, out of harm's way and pulled out his water canteen, handing it over to her. He wasn’t sure how long she had been locked in there, how long she had been breathing the smoke and coughing. After she looked like she had enough to drink and her coughing subsided he looked her over before looking at the village that was gone into ashes. “Can you tell me what happened here?” He asked before looking at her again. “If it hurts too much to speak, that's okay. Do you have anywhere else you can go?” He asked. “I can accompany you if you do, I’ll report back to my friends and then we can escort you I’m sure.” He offered, he knew the others wouldn’t mind that much especially if wherever she needed to go was close enough.

Joshua felt numb. He wasn’t sure what to do anymore, his precious and beloved little sister was still gone. It felt a hole inside him, no surprise; his whole family was dealing with it but they all had their partners. Their soulmates helped ease the pain, some had family to take care of, to help distract them for a while. He had none of that, his own soulmate rejected him immediately, right after he had found out about his sister. He didn’t know what to feel. He had no one to turn to anymore. His parents couldn’t help and neither could any of his siblings; no one knew the kind of pain he was going through. His friends, his fellow fighters. His world felt more empty even though he was surrounded by his own support system, they were trying but none of that ever seemed to matter.

He laid in bed with a heavy sigh squeezing his eyes shut at the emotional and mental pain that he was in, sometimes it felt like a red hot poker twisting in his heart. Other times it ebbed and flowed like the ocean waves. And very occasionally was just a dull throb. His alarm went off and he sat up with a groan, he glanced at his phone scanning the messages from his family; they were worried about him since he had started to distance himself. Plus he was sleeping all day. They just didn’t understand what it was like for him, how late into the night when the world was quieting down all he would think about was Young-ll. The life he had wanted, could have had with her if she had just given him a chance; he would have made her the happiest woman in the world but he supposed that was even more selfish of him. She didn’t believe in soulmates, she didn’t want to be tied down to someone like him who held such grief in his heart after a fresh loss.

He couldn’t blame her for not wanting to deal with having to pick him back up and put him back together, not really anyways. Why should she have to be his rock, she didn’t even know him that well. He opened his messages finally and gave an empty reply to his family who were checking on him before he got off his bed and went to his bathroom. He turned on the water as he looked at himself in the mirror, he had bags under his eyes from not being able to sleep. As the room filled up with steam he undressed and showered, letting the boiling hot water pound against his skin. He needed to focus and get into the right headspace, he had to fight still; he needed the money more than ever. His family had a funeral to pay for. Everyone was picking up extra shifts and doing what they could but he also knew he could make up the money that much faster for them. His sister deserved that much.

After he was finished showering he got out and dressed in loose clothes, he would need to be able to move when he was fighting but he didn’t want to wear sweatpants or anything. He finished his basic chores for his little apartment, like throwing his clothes in the hamper where he made a mental note to start the laundry tomorrow. Hopefully he wouldn’t get knocked upside the head tonight and he would actually remember to do his wash, if not well tomorrow would be interesting. He grabbed his keys and wallet before heading out, he would grab something from the convenience store since he couldn’t bring himself to cook. He stopped at the convenience store and made some ramyeon really quick before he made his way to the fighting ring. It was an abandoned building by the docks, the people didn’t care what they did as long as they didn’t trash the place.

Joshua thought the place looked better now than it did when he first showed up, the outside of the building was taken care of a little, no weeds in the cracks of the cement, the doors didn’t creak anymore and the windows were no longer broken and were in fact tinted. That told Joshua that they were in fact doing pretty well for themselves, he had no idea how the cuts worked and pay outs was another thing entirely. He just knew that he wasn’t as good as Seungcheol or Woozi but he made enough money to pay bills and then some, unlike poor Hoshi who was literally about to be drowning in debt. Sometimes Joshua wished he could help his friend out by giving him some of his extra money but he also needed it right now so he couldn’t. Hopefully in the future, if Hoshi could keep up with it Joshua would help him out but first he needed to worry about himself.

He made his way through the building seeing some of his friends who were fellow fighters and seeing some of the fighters he didn’t actually like. Like Daejung who dragged his pregnant girlfriend to the fights not caring that stress could be bad for her or the baby. People like him made Joshua sick. He saw the announcer girl setting up by herself as she usually did as he joined his friends to wait until the rest of the fighters showed up. While waiting he scanned the building, the ring was clean which was also a pretty new thing to have happened recently. The ring itself was in good condition too, with pieces that had been slowly upgraded over the last few months and now they were making sure to upkeep the whole place. It looked nice, if he didn’t know better he would think it was on its way to being an official fighting ring but they were still in shitty folding chairs for the people who watched and none of the fighters had any gear.

Hell, last he checked they still didn’t have anyone on hand who was trained for medical aid, so any injuries that occurred were yours to deal with, but they also didn’t supply any of the equipment needed. Bandaids? Nah. Wrap to help protect their hands? What a joke. He and the others just had to hope they didn’t get hurt that seriously because then they would not only be out of a source of money but the healing time would take forever for most serious injuries. By that time they would be out of the street. He tried not to think of it as he sat down in one of the chairs and stared at his hands. Why did he feel so empty when he had barely known Young-ll? Why was life so unfair sometimes? He gritted his teeth and clenched his hands as a fresh wave of pain rolled over him, it was easy to not cry but the anger and frustration and hopelessness was another story. That’s why he continued to fight.
