- Hiei stayed where he was his back leaning against the cage, his eyes closed as he let his body heat slowly work its way to the bird woman in the cage, eventually he heard her breathing change and a groan indicated that she was starting to wake up. His eyes opened and watched her as she struggled to speak, hearing the chattering of her teeth and seeing her body wrack itself with shivers. He grit his teeth, as much as he wanted answers they would clearly have to wait for this woman to warm up enough so that they could hold conversation. Her voice was hoarse already, probably from disuse, and his mind picked up on her words and filed them away for questions later. “Warm up, then we can talk.” He struggled to say in a nice way, his arms crossing over his chest once again, now that she was awake though he let his body temperature get higher still. He kept quiet while he sat there, letting his body heat warm her and the area around them, she had clearly been here a while and her words told him this was the right place.
His mind rolled away on the thoughts based off the little that she had said to him already, seeing the way she reacted to the cold said a lot of this trap was based around her. The demon keeping her here wanted to weaken her and it seemed like he wanted to give her hope, only if the demons are missing Hiei assumed they were dead now. His eyes narrowed as he looked around the room, it was bare and minimalist, clearly to make it harder for the girl to live in here. Dampness under him made his eye twitch as he looked down to find that while thinking his temperature had risen higher then he had wanted it too and was now starting to melt some of the ice under and around him. While not his intention it could work better than he thought, it probably wasn’t the cleanest thing to drink but with no other option it was better than nothing. “Drink the melting water.” She clearly didn’t have anything to eat or drink in here and it looked like she had been here for quite a while due to the frozen wings on her back, the real question was how was she still alive.
He watched her closely as she sipped at the water, he kept an eye on her as she slowly stopped shaking after a while more of silence and letting her warm up he spoke again. “Better?” He questioned though he knew he probably sounded irritated, though it had nothing to do with her per-say. It was more at himself for thinking that he could look into this without the help of the others, and that was what bothered him. He was so use to being on his own, even after everything was said and done he still preferred to stay by himself though he did stay close enough to the others in case of danger. Why had he been so stubborn. It was an easy enough answer, he was so set in his ways; such a lone wolf. A coward in many ways too. His thoughts went back to how Yukina still didn’t know that he was her brother that she was looking for. His heart twinged at that thought, maybe after he got out of here he would tell her. Maybe not.
Pulling himself out of his own self torture he set crimson eyes on her, seeing the shivers down to only every once in a while he decided now was the right time. “What’s going on.” He asked as he turned to sit facing her cross legged on the slightly puddling ice under them. He would ask questions if he had to but figured maybe with that bit of prodding she would just talk, it would be easier for him. He had talked more in this time then he really had to anyone else lately. It felt weird because this woman was a stranger to him, but if she was in trouble he now had little to no choice on what he had to do. He’d get out and probably save her while he did. He also expected to here a commotion here soon from Yusuke, Kuwabara and Kurama here soon. Koenma wouldn’t let Hiei be out of his sights for too long without raising the alarm. He’d bid some time that way escaping with the woman would be easier for all parties involved.
