As you probably already know, Rowan Bay is a small fishing village in Downeast Maine. And when I say small, I mean small ━ the population's only around 600 (not counting raccoons, but we're trying to get rid of our furry problem). It's the sort of place that if you aren't from there or have family there, you'd likely never know it exists. That's a shame, because Rowan Bay is a really swell place to live. A lot of our residents' families have been in Rowan Bay for generations, working as lobster fisherman or running the town's shops, but we have our fair share of newer imports, too. We might not have a whole lot of citizens, but we wouldn't have any if it was a terrible place to live, right? Right.

The town may be fairly small, but we have everything you could ask for, especially if what you're asking for is lobster. Or raccoons. Seriously, the raccoon problem is getting out of hand, but I guess that's to be expected since the town is surrounded on three sides by a large forest. But hey, the hiking and camping are great! The forest kind of puts a damper on tourism, since not a lot of folks are willing to drive so far out to get here, but everyone who visits says it was worth the trip! Then there's Rowan Bay's main attraction: the large harbor that borders the other side of town. Main Street runs along it, so I'm sure you'll be seeing that soon. While you're there, you should grab anything you need from the shops. It's a two-hour drive to the nearest town from here, but we have a good variety of shops nowadays, so you should be able to get anything you need.

I think that's just about everything you need to know right now. If you have any questions and can't find me, just ask anyone you see around town. They'll be able to help you with whatever it is or point you in the direction of someone who can. That's one of the good things about our community being so small ━ you know almost everyone. Of course, some people also view that as a problem, but as long as you don't give people a reason to gossip, it's unlikely to be a problem. Rowan Bay may be a small town, but it and its citizens have a lot of character. I'm sure you'll be a great fit for our town.

These are all the things you've read a thousand times by now and probably know by heart: follow Gaia's TOS, no god-modding, keep everything PG-13, etc. Super fancy post formats aren't required, but please include at least a picture of your character, their name, and their location in the format. Also try to avoid using anything larger than size 11 or smaller than size 10 font for the body of your posts in character.

Do not quote everyone in the OOC and just say "want to plot?" That's a d**k move. I'm not saying you need to come up with personal ideas for every single character from the get-go, but mass quoting everyone like that puts all the responsibility on them. At least try to come up with ideas for people instead of just asking if they want to plot.

　　* ██xPOSTING ❀ REQUIREMENTS

As far as literacy goes, this is more of a lit. break/lazy lit roleplay. You don't have to churn out a novel every post, but I expect at least two quality paragraphs per post.

Since this is going to be a pretty casual group, I'm not going to be strict about posting. Just don't leave people waiting for over a week without notice. If you're going to have to leave for a while, let me know. I'll contact you twice about inactivity before your spot is opened up to the public. If you don't respond to the first message within 24 hours, I will send another, and if another 24 hours passes without you answering, I will take down your character. If you get back in touch with me before anyone else applies for the spot, you're free to ask for it back or reapply.

　　* ██xCHARACTER ❀ CREATION

I'd prefer you use celebrities or models for face claims, as they tend to have better quality pictures. The only thing I ask is that you not apply with Dylan O'Brien, Taylor Swift, or any of the kids from 5SOS. Other than that, you can use whoever you want. Just try to avoid scene kids or Victoria's Secret models and make sure your character looks their age - basically, don't try to pass off a thirty year old as an eighteen year old. Characters can be any age, but I'd appreciate if you didn't only make characters in their teens or early twenties. You can have as many characters as you can handle.

I'd like a diverse cast of characters, both in terms of ethnicity and personality. We don't need 20 white families that are almost identical in appearance and story. There are a few pre-made families, but if you want, you can create a family or household of your own for your characters. Just fill out the nifty little new household form if you want to make one of your own. Households don't necessarily have to be families, so feel free to make a group of friends living together or whatever else your heart desires. Also, we're not currently accepting single person households, so try to make sure there's at least two characters in the house for now.

　　* ██xAPPLICATION ❀ PROCESS

As you may have guessed from the 'application thread' link in the first post, you'll have to fill out a neat little form and post it in the aforementioned thread to apply to the roleplay. Once your reserve's been accepted, you can move on to the profile. All profiles should be posted in a thread of their own in the test forum. You have 72 hours to complete your profile and send me a link to it. It's fairly simple and shouldn't take too long, but if you need more time, just ask. Also please remember that just because your app was accepted doesn't mean your character is officially in. I still have the right to reject you based on your profile, though I will try to work with you instead of just rejecting it.

Having just moved to town from Boston about a month ago, the Robinson family are still fairly new to Rowan Bay, but Ms. Robinson grew up here. After divorcing her ex-husband last year, Ms. Robinson sought a fresh start for her children, and with her parents having just moved to Florida to enjoy their retirement, it seemed like fate was pointing her back to her hometown. She let the kids finish up the previous school year in Boston, and then the family packed up and moved into Ms. Robinson's childhood home.

The elderly couple who own the house were kind enough to rent out the rooms of 135 Wilderose Avenue to the group currently living in it. There are only three roommates now, but they started out with four, one for each bedroom in the house. The fourth roommate moved out of 135 Wilderose about two months ago. As a result, each roommate's share of the rent has increased slightly, and they're currently looking for a new roommate.

420 Coldrock is home to Rowan Bay's own version of the Brady Bunch. When Mr. Zimmerman and Mr. Farkas met fourteen years ago, they both already had children from previous relationships ━ Mr. Zimmerman was left with as the only caregiver to his triplets when their mother died shortly after childbirth, and Mr. Farkas had primary custody of his three young daughters. The two families mixed together fairly easily, and the whole brood moved to Rowan Bay about ten years ago. The oldest two girls are out of the house now, but they still have four kids at home. Despite how long they've been a family, it's only been within the last year that Mr. Farkas and Mr. Zimmerman have taken the next step in their relationship and gotten engaged.
