Sigval is not the most muscular man around, but his presence is often very commanding due to his great height and proper posture. He gives off an aura of confidence and no-nonsense, cultivated after years of serious business.

Sigval's hair is jet black, often left unstyled and untouched, as well as hazel eyes. He has too many scars on his body to count, mostly from fights when he was younger. The most notable ones are the ones on his face, but he has never told anyone where these scars came from, and he probably never will. He also has solid armband tattoos on his arms.

❙❚ PERSONA —
— DISCERNING❙❚ Sigval is perceptive when it comes to people, situations and decisions. He's able to foresee situations and work based on these considerations. Thankfully, his actions often prove to be timely and effective.
— STRICT ❙❚ He has high expectations of himself and his team. He'll be damned if they fail to reach what he thinks is their full potential, even if it means some tough love.
— SECRETIVE ❙❚ He keeps most of his private life separate from his work life. He doesn't like talking about his past very much, either. This doesn't mean he's a totally closed book, though. He's apparently very easy to read when you catch him in the right moments.
— EMOTIONAL ❙❚ Sigval actually feels very strongly for people he grows attached to. (That usually happens pretty quickly.) He maintains a very serious tone and mindset when in professional settings, but he expresses himself very openly in social situations.
— SUPPORTIVE ❙❚ Sigval always seeks to empathize and provide support to him friends and coworkers. He has grown to recognise the need for a leader to be a pillar of support for his team any time they may need him, whether professionally or otherwise.

❙❚ HISTORY —
Sigval was born Ignatius. He had always been a very transient person, moving often and rarely found attachment in any single place. He was raised by bad people to do bad things, and was pretty much a criminal for most of his life. They were mostly petty crimes, but he was easily swayed into anything from underground fighting to drug trafficking. Those who knew him called him the lowest of the low, and that was saying a lot for someone who lived in Old Town more than anywhere else. He never really felt like he had any blood family; none that mattered to him anymore, anyway. For a really long time, he didn’t think he had anyone to care about, or anyone to care about him.

He met Alkaline and Xenon at the lowest point in his life, just on the verge of murder.

“You look like a... Sigval,” she had told him the first time they met. “A king. A konung.”

Ever since then, Alkaline has been the closest thing that Sigval has ever had to family. She became his closest friend, confidante and self-proclaimed older sister. For dragging him (quite literally kicking and screaming) out of the slums and into Hope, he did everything he could to repay her for seeing something in him that even he didn’t see in himself. He started operating behind the scenes of Hope. He was an uneducated 18 year old; what else could he have done but followed orders and done menial work?

But Alkaline saw a lot in him. She pushed him to educate himself, at least enough to read and to understand politics and provide insight into Hope’s operations. At first, he didn’t have the expertise that Alkaline and Xenon did, and often made wrongful assumptions and his foresights often proved to be incredibly misleading. However, it was from all these mistakes that he forced himself to make better judgements, predict better outcomes, come to better solutions. He soon became a source of third party insight for Alkaline. He knew exactly what she saw in Academia, and what she envisioned for their future. He knew the way her mind worked. He knew the exact morals she kept herself, and Hope, to.

Unfortunately, for all his ability, he could never have predicted the explosion that came years later.

Even until now, he still blames himself for what had happened. He had called on Alkaline to look into some matters with him at her home. (To this day, he can’t remember what was so important that he had to see her so urgently.) He was in the vicinity when the bomb had gone off. Debris and shrapnel had left him with deep cuts, and he had been knocked out. He learned of Alkaline’s death when he woke up in the hospital and he left Hope soon afterwards. He mourned her death by himself, now nameless and faceless. For a long time, he had tried to erase everything about Hope from his memory, tried to forget the skills that he had learnt. None of it felt like it had any meaning.

That was, of course, until news about Kaline had first reached his ears. He had stopped thinking about Alkaline for a long time before that, but that name reignited his desire for justice. For Alkaline. (He still can’t decide if it’s out of guilt or out of a desire to serve the people. Maybe both.)

He returned to Alkaline and climbed the ranks quickly. He knew the way Alkaline would have wanted to lead the group, and often finds himself turning to what he had learnt in his time with her to determine his next course of action. He has begun to develop a strong sense of justice and an aversion for anything even remotely associated with violence. He still thinks of her, but he’s more concerned with his current duties. He blames no one for Alkaline’s death, but he only knows that he wants to see the group through to where Alkaline would have wanted it to go. Where he goes afterwards, though, he still isn’t quite sure.

❙❚ LIKES —
— PEACE ❙❚ This is a given. Sigval prefers to be in a state of peace, both in terms of inner peace, and peace in Academia. It just makes his life easier.
— WORKING ❙❚ While he isn't a workaholic, Sigval finds a lot of meaning in his work. It helps that the people he works with are competent.
— BRAWLS ❙❚ Sigval has always had an affinity for fights, but now he only enjoys them for exercise. He never fights in an attempt to win, only to maintain his physicality.

❙❚ DISLIKES —
— VIOLENCE ❙❚ Unnecessary violence is completely unjustified in Sigval's eyes.
— PICTURES ❙❚ That is to say, he hates having his picture taken (especially when he's the only subject of the photograph).
— INCOMPETENCY❙❚ Sure, everyone starts somewhere, and he is wiling to teach, but he doesn't have the time to concern himself with people that aren't improving fast enough. Time is of the essence, and unless people can prove their worth to him, he often disregards them in favour of those who are more skilled.

❙❚ STRENGTHS —
— DECISION-MAKING ❙❚ Sigval leads with only the best intentions in mind, both for Alkaline and for Academia. On top of his excellent foresight, he often makes good decisions that greatly benefit the team in the long run.
— QUICK-THINKING ❙❚ The Konung can think on his feet, and respond to any given situation calmly and clearly.
— LEARNING ❙❚ A jack of all trades, Sigval has a good amount of knowledge on anything he feels he needs to lead Alkaline to victory. He picks skills up quickly, and has the discipline to master them to the extent where he can utilise them as and when he needs.

❙❚ WEAKNESSES —
— IMPATIENCE ❙❚ Sigval hates spending an unnecessary amount of time on one certain task. He needs to keep moving. This applies to training rookies, as well.
— CONFLICT MANAGEMENT ❙❚ This especially applies between members of the same team, and especially if their problems are personal in nature. He may have some idea of how to quell the situation if they were of more professional nature, but otherwise, he's quite helpless.

❙❚ FEARS —
— USELESSNESS ❙❚ The last thing that Sigval would ever want to experience is feeling as useless as he used to before he met Alkaline. He does everything he can to be an asset rather than a burden.
— LOSS ❙❚ He gets attached to people quickly, and losing any of them would be very difficult for Sigval emotionally and psychologically.

— SUCCESS ❙❚ That is, to fulfill what Alkaline would have wanted for Academia. He wants to succeed in serving the city, and the people.
— CLOSURE ❙❚ He wants to know what exactly happened to Alkaline, if only for closure.

❙❚ BLURB — Cyrus had the reigns of Alkaline in the period Sigval was gone. When he returned, he had practically handed him the leadership position, which Sigval is genuinely grateful for. He does what he can to help Cyrus as much as possible, even if it isn't much. Sig knows his way around technology, though his skill capacity and knowledge is nothing compared to Cy's. (Although, he does have him to thank for having that skill set at all.) Baseline is that Sigval feels incredibly indebted to Cyrus.

Beyond work, they are occasional drinking buddies. Sigval has been trying to get Cyrus to deal with his inability to handle confrontation, but it's been a slow process.

He secretly wonders if she is as comfortable being part of the team as she says she is, knowing her age and lack of experience can become an obstacle sometimes.

❙❚ BLURB —
They worked together what now feels like a lifetime ago. They were only acquaintances then, and are still merely acquaintances now. Sigval can't say he particularly dislikes Kaira; he just finds her slightly immature, especially in her obsession with Xenon. He doesn't feel the need to bring up these personal issues where he's meant to be professional, but that doesn't change the fact that he finds her motivations wrong and unhealthy.
