A genetic based B/C which is as interactive and complex as you want it to be...

"Once upon a time... Bit corny I guess, but I suppose that will do"

A girl, no older than 27 welcomes you past the front gate of a large property, the large open field full of blossoming flowers and trees that threw tiny flowers to the ground as the wind gently ran through the branches.

"Oh please hop in" she said as she hopped into a small golf buggy. She turned the key and started the small vehicle and started to drive down the driveway towards a large greenhouse.

"Now, it's a little bit of a drive, so I hope you don't mind me telling you about this place. My dad bought this place not long after I was born- he was a Lepidopterist and thought it would be perfect to continue his studies and work on his "Master plan" as he called it."

It was here that she paused, like a small lump had caught in her throat.

"Bu-but he never really got to it before he passed away. I'm sure I have the notes around here somewhere and someday I hope that I could finish his work."

It was now that she was nearing the large glass building.

"I suppose he didn't do too bad, he perfected some fast-breeding identical coloured butterflies and bred some beautiful colours. I want to keep his dream alive, but unfortunately bills don't pay themselves so I decided why not sell some, get some help breeding and caring for them. I suppose you saw the advertisement I put out and that's why you're here?"

Here she pulled up to the glasshouse where there were several large panels open with colourful butterflies flitting in and out.

"Come on, come inside and have a look at what I have for sale"

FAQ

Q: Why aren't they shaded?
A: At the moment, the butterflies do not have shading and it does not look like this will change soon. However, they may come in the future.

Q: How are stats determined?
A: Stats are determined through RNG and in the case of 2nd gen butterflies, their parents. More information is listed below.

Q: Can I buy a butterfly for someone else?
A: Yes you can, however the form must be filled out in their name and have it noted that it is for someone else. The butterfly will then be added to their collection once they visit the certing thread

Stage 1: Egg
Lasts 1 week
A butterfly lays their eggs on leaves that will become food for the growing caterpillar once it hatches. With not much to do, the egg is just waiting to emerge as a wriggly, hungry caterpillar.

Stage 2: Caterpillar
Lasts 1 week
Eat, eat, eat! After hatching from it's egg, the caterpillar knows only one thing; it's time to eat. He has even started to much on the leaves surrounding him. It's time to store up a lot of energy for the next big step.

Stage 3: Cocoon
Lasts 1 week
With a full belly, the caterpillar spins a cocoon for itself to wait out the transformation that is about to happen. For the second time in his life, there isn't much to do.

Stage 4: Butterfly
Lasts 1 week
Finally emerging from his cocoon, the humble caterpillar has undergone an amazing transformation. No longer a wriggly worm, he is now a beautiful butterfly- free to spend his days fluttering from flower to flower. He is free to find a lovely lady to lay eggs with and enjoy the freedom wings bring.

How it all works...

When breeding two butterflies- The total of the points in each category is added and then divided by two.

For example: Butterfly F and Butterfly M
Butterfly F has 2 points in strength, 3 in speed and 5 in style.
Butterfly M has 2 points in strength, 2 in speed and 2 in style.

So the points are added for the potential offspring. 4 points Strength, 5 in Speed and 7 in style - this is then divided by 2. Then a Random Number Generator will decide if there are any "bonus" points to add OR take away for each stat. If 1 is generated, 1 point will be taken away from that stat (minimum of 1), if 2 is generated, no changes will be made, if 3 is generated, an additional point will be added for that stat.

Colours and wing shape are also generated similarly, however are kept top secret.

Butterflies tend to lay 1-3 eggs per breeding, however this can be altered with nectars or just pure dumb luck
User Image

Every butterfly has a set number of skills that has been passed on from it's parents - Strength, Speed and Style.
These skills are useful in competitions that grant prizes such as breeding points or random eggs.

First generation butterflies can only have a beginning stat range of 1-5 and to improve on this, they can enter competitions or find nectars. However, bred butterflies inherit a mix of skills from their parents and are exempt from the 5 point maximum beginning limit.

Shows & Contests

Points used in shows; each point equals a "chance"- therefore a butterfly with the max points in a category in a show cannot automatically win over a butterfly with only one.

For Example: A Strength Contest.
Four butterflies entering;
a) Butterfly 1 has 3 strength points
b) Butterfly 2 has 5 strength points
c) Butterfly 3 has 1 strength points
d) Butterfly 4 has 4 strength points

The first butterfly entered in the contest is number 1 with three points that relate to the category.
Butterfly 1 gets numbers 1,2,3.
Butterfly 2 gets 4,5,6,7,8
Butterfly 3 gets 9
Butterfly 4 has 10, 11, 12, 13

A random number generator is then done, with the number generated being the winning butterfly.

Therefore even though butterfly three has only 1 strength point, it still *can* win, just has *less* chance of winning.

Prizes include breeding slots, random eggs and other rewards.

Nectars: ??k Each

Honey: Full of sugar and energy, allows a butterfly to lay more eggs when breeding
Blended fern leaves: When an egg is soaked in this green goop, it speeds up its growth to a butterfly. Can also be used on caterpillars and cocoons (instant growth)
Milkweed sap: Slightly poisonous but very delicious. Butterflies who ingest this before breeding find they have higher rates of mutation in their offspring. (Offers wing types and colours that may not have been available to them before)
Crushed pink geranium: When ingested by a butterfly, changes their gender to female
Crushed blue hyacinth: When ingested by a butterfly, changes their gender to male
