History: Early in his life (after Old World encounters but before Spanish conquering), Romero endured poverty and famine. He survived by adopting a disciplinarian culture only to be conquered by Spain in 1522. (Now, Spain is one of select figures he regards with utmost respect; after all, Spain is his "mother." ) This disciplinarian lifestyle lent to Romero a certain arrogance. Always leading, Romero was the first of the Latin Americans to become fed up with Spanish rule, and he won his independence from his 'mother' in July 5, 1811. This move, however, impoverished him once again. Romero spent a great many years weaning himself away from Spain, which impoverished him further. He took a gamble and elected President Chavez. The move turned out to be a good one, and Romero's health and wealth were restored in no time. He now chooses to focus his efforts on social welfare and staying ahead of his fellow Latin Americans.

Personality: Romero is a good leader, if somewhat snide, cynical, and arrogant. He grew up fighting many wars, most notably against imperial England, and has evolved a rather militaristic personality that will sometimes put other countries down inadvertently. Founder of the United Nations, Romero currently tries to advocate peace, but his old experiences die hard. As a result, his sentiments on peace may contradict his words and actions. He is most experienced with the Spanish rapier, or most mid- and light-class swords, although he can improvise most heavy objects as weapons if need be. Romero loves soccer and technology, and only Brazil can fairly beat him in a soccer game. Due in part to his Socialist president Chavez and also in part to his natural suspicions, Romero has a grudge against the imperialist-capitalist America, despite their history as powerful friends and allies. He dislikes France and England for their old colonial grip on northern Latin America and holds a grudge against the Netherlands over the ABC Islands of Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao, which lie directly north of his Falcon State and are inconveniently close places to house a Nordic military base. Many of the other South American nations remember Romero best for his past tendencies to make war on them, and as a result, most are afraid of him. Only Colombia, his twin, and the Guyana twins have always been his friends; the latter pair even worship the Venezuelan as a surrogate father, for he had colonized them and ruled them well back in the day. Although he doesn't like to sing, Romero can do so with a surprisingly pleasant tenor. His favorite song is Flor de Luna.

His defeat of Spain led to his first taste of independence, which was lost a year later when the 1812 Caracas earthquake literally shook the first republic apart. His favorite boss is national hero Simón Bolivar. He will resist working with capitalist America and England at all costs, though you wouldn't know it from how politely he speaks to them both. In battle, he weaves through the enemy lines, using his knowledge of anatomy to thrust his sturdy rapier exactly where it hurts.

Personality: Yuki is polite and quite intelligent, perhaps a little too much so in terms of Pokemon, but such is to be expected from a young resident of Japan. A snowy personality, he prefers animals to people and sometimes has a hard time opening up. He prefers to make his own way in life, but knows when to ask for help if necessary. Asking others for help in his favorite game series, however, is beneath him, and you would more likely find him dispensing valuable information to other junior players.

Biography: A native of the bustling modern seaport city of Yokohama, after which Kanto's Vermilion City was modeled, Yuki grew up amid the most modern technologies while staying connected to his family's seafaring roots. By the time he was four, he could already read and, to a lesser extent, write in Japanese; in merely two years, he would receive his first Pokémon game, FireRed. Yuki played it avidly, for with his game-programming mother's help, he too could see the vast similarities between its Kanto and his, particularly in Vermilion City, his virtual home, and the city appeared in many of his subsequent dreams. His parent kept one secret well--unbeknownst to the little boy, his mom was one of the lucky few Nintendo employees conceptualizing the Pokemon games of the future. It was then that Yuki first happened upon the notion of virtual reality, though the young boy had no way at the time of recognizing it as more than mere dreams. As he studied his way diligently through school, Yuki also helped his grandparents catch enough fish to supply their small restaurant with, learning through them the secrets of business and cuisine. No matter how long and hard he studied, Yuki always found time to delve deeper into the world of Pokémon. By the time he reached secondary school, Yuki could recite by English and Japanese name every Pokémon in existence, and if they actually left footprints, he could track them across all of Yokohama. Not surprisingly, his favorite characters in the pocket universe were Max and Cheren. Secondary school also taught him how to speak fluent English and refined the skuld he had learned as a young child. Late in 2015, just one month after his 17th birthday, Nintendo announced that it would hold an off-calendar event completely different from any preceding event in which Pokémon fanatics from all across the globe could participate, simply by bringing their favorite Pokémon game with them to New York's prestigious Rockefeller Center. Ecstatic, for he had never before been allowed to attend these events, Yuki scoured the house for his dear SoulSilver and Emerald games, only to find, to his chagrin, that his older sister Yuzuru had taken them with her to Tokyo University. Undaunted, the Pokémon genius brought his third favorite game out, and he and his mother made the long exodus to America. On the day of the event, Yuki packed a special bento box for lunch, anticipating it to last for just the day. Little did he know that this would be no regular gaming conference...

Personality: Pompous and pretentious, spoiled and childish, Ani has a penchant for pranks and little memory of her parents. Although she has never seen the kingdom she was born into and was exiled from, she loves it and the man who founded it with a passion and would do anything to restore that realm. Ani despises Sasilivia because from what she has seen of the Balance Spirit’s actions, Sasilivia is the evil being who decreed her kingdom be cast away and the one who created so much boring repetition in the world. Ani believes that a chaotic world, especially one in which her kingdom is restored to its rightful place in the world, is much more fun to live in than a peaceful world in which no conflict exists, and will utilize any means to prevent such a stagnant peace from ever occurring again.

~What have you done?~
Bio: Ani is a second-generation demon whose grandfather sought to unite the entire world under one ruler: him. As punishment, the Demon King’s realm was cast into the Void, a dark and forbidding place that quickly turned the people of his realm into raving monsters. In this horrific place Ani was born, and her mother sought to save Ani from the curse of the Void by exiling her from it even as the madness took hold of her. For years Ani Gwendolyn wandered the world as an orphan, searching for her origin, having only her name to offer as a clue. One thing she noticed on her travels was that every village and town looked and behaved almost exactly the same. The repetition bored her, and Ani increasingly sought more and more clever ways to upset the order while searching for her past.

Finally, the wise leader of the elves, who she had given a prank wedgie on their first meeting, told her, in private, who she was and where she had come from. From him, Ani learned that she was part demon, born in the Void after the Spirit of Balance cast her grandfather’s nation into it. Ani’s rage was terrible to behold, and it summoned up four titanic chimeras of Chaos that destroyed that particular elven kingdom and its inhabitants. The leader survived and helped Ani control her rage, and eventually they suppressed the titans long enough to banish them back to the Void from whence they came. The experience led Ani to be kinder to elves than to any other race. To this day, Ani searches for the Spirit of Balance with her two chimeras, awakened by the four titans to accompany her, seeking revenge for what she did to her ancestors’ sanity and state. To her, the Spirit of Balance represents the boring and unjust order that decreed her grandfather’s nation to be bad and worthy of banishment into the Void.

On her journeys of vengeance, Ani heard rumors of the Sage Stones, reputed to keep the world’s peace and order in check. Reasoning that these stones also imprisoned her nation in the Void, Ani seeks these out as well as the Spirit who began all this…

PM RP: July 2012: Axis High Short: Camera

Characters featured are Armelle's Rutilio Acosta-Carriedo and my Laurencio Francisco Rodriguez-Carriedo. This short takes place in the past, approximately around 1885, when the Kodak Brownies wre first invented, daguerreotypes were THE picture media, and California had just joined the Union.

The young California, as of yet unable to speak coherent English due to his recent admission to the Union, is taking pictures with his older brother Florida, who dislikes cameras as 'soul-stealing devices'.
