Announcement!

In this round of entries, Dju and King had no idea what they would be coming up against in term of writers. A few new faces here and there must have scared people into upping their games because judging was the most difficult here than it has ever been before in the last three contests we've held where we could spy winners from the moment they submitted them. This time, it was harder to pick. We saw a potential "best" the moment she posted her entry, but when it was followed by another potential "best" entry, we started to get a little worried. Everyone has clearly busted their asses on their entry but it was a shame that a lot of them submitted it late into the competition and as a result, their entries suffered a little bit. Creativity was abundant in this contest, we saw some excellent uses of modern-day technology that none of us could have dreamed about! One of them even had a gravity-defying umbrella, which was the cherry on top of the pointless inventions that Saltaire has procured over the centuries of advancements.

Unfortunately though, there is only one winner for this contest, though we would like to announce the top four entries we had received--most of which were so close, so close to their aim but barely missed out on the prize.

In no particular order, these were the four finalists;

Adona Benedicta, d o m i n o - c h i l d, Tohopekaliga, and ladyumbra.

It was hard enough picking finalists from 13 very good entries but these scored very high on the following three categories we were judging on (categories which we have always been judging entrants on):

1. Grammar/spelling/writing in general, including flow of words;
2. Creativity with inventions (this is the 32nd Century, whether you like it or not your characters would have been raised in a techno-savvy world so saying that they just "avoid" technologies is not on because it's everywhere at this point in time, even if they're just watching others use them);
3. How well the character fits in to the world of Saltaire.

That being said, in any competition, there can only be one winner and although we would have loved to give out more than one pin, it may not be fair to other entrants, so instead we offer our invitation to most if not all entrants to do some unofficial RPing in our Guild. With such high-quality entries, if they stuck to that standard in their roleplaying, there is no doubt that the DjuKing fairy will come along and grant your wish.

Anyways, we're getting side-tracked. Out of the four finalists, two entrants in particular had stunning entries that were hard to decide between--d o m i n o - c h i l d and Tohopekaliga. As you can only imagine, choosing between these two was the most difficult task the judges came up against but in the end,

d o m i n o - c h i l d was announced the winner and takes home 005!

It eventually came to deeply analyzing both the flow of the entries (how well they played like a story) and the creativity present in them as well. Congratulations d o m i n o - c h i l d for making it out alive in this bloodbath!

Click on the image for a full-sized version of your pin; You journal has also been created--you can start setting it up right away =]

We do not lie when we say that the standards were unusually high this time. If we could have picked ten finalists, we would have, but we figured it would be a bit redundant at that point because it would only be highlighting the ones that didn't make it to the finals and that would be mean :(. To all the entrants, however, if you are still genuinely interested in Royalty Bound, we extend our invitation to you to create a quest thread and try to acquire a Prince through the fifth option available to you as there is no doubt a great deal of you really do deserve one for your award-winning entries! We know a lot of you stepped out of your comfort zone and we're really grateful for all your entries!
