Once there was a dark, stormy night in spring. The tall trees rustled, as rain fell into the muddy mess of grass and earth. A small herd of Kirin wander through the fog and storm. A handful of mares urge their foals onward to follow the guard stallions, each one alert for danger. The largest Kirin walked in the lead guiding them through the maze. Their coats were drenched and dirty. "Mother?" A young foal cried, "Are we there yet?" His mother gave him a quick n** on the withers. "Be quiet child, this land is not ours to claim, we must tread quietly if we want to be safe," she whispered, beckoning him to walk faster she ignored his complaint.

"Do not fear," the dark stallion nickered. Gold markings highlighted his mane and fur. His golden crown was dulled with age, like bronze. "The border is nearby, we won't be troubled." He continued to walk on.

As he walked, the desert mare knew he too was uncertain. She caught up to him. "The Kirin race is aggressive now..." she cried. "Why has this happened?" The stallion remained silent for a moment before finally speaking.

"I don't know..."

A. The Deep forest. Kirin live happily in many situations. The deep forest provides shelter, abundance in foliage and other edible plant-life even plenty of places to hide.

B. The open field. Feel like running, getting some sunlight? Maybe a wander to the seaside? The openfield although offers little shelter it does have a vast area of rock monuments which are believed to have been underwater many thousands of years ago. These monuments now offer a place to rest and an area to explore for foals. Mares also prefer to birth in sheltered areas like caves and vast bushland.

C. The smaller patch of Deep forest which is partly surrounded by marshland is the main breeding zone for kirin. Their dead also wander here to perish, while many bones lie being sat on by pixies and nymphs mourning the loss of knowledge and memories in the rubble. This forest symbolizes life and death and embraces ones fate. A sweet fresh watered river runs through the middle of this small glade.

D. Close Islands. Kirin whom prefer the coast have swum across the reef to these islands and have grown abundant and prosperous. They are barely disturbed and herds remain well threaded together. This also is an example of many kirins powerful swimming.

E. Great Leap waterfall. The once proud king of the kirindae leaped off the mighty cliffs here forming the river flow behind him to fall and follow. Aliendra titled the river dancer followed after him, vowing to protect the kirin. As both lovers leaped the water fell nobly and has fallen forever since. This waterfall is a memorial to the rights of kirin.

F. The marshes. With their long legs kirin are at home in the marsh lands. Mangroves adorn the swamp-like floor and attract tigers and other predators to feed off the animals which thrive on the grassy salty delights of the earth. The marsh is also the kirins boundry. As venturing too deep is known to lead to a terrible danger. Thus they are trapped to this edge of Aerithe.

G. The Golden Sea. Named for the bright shimmer as the sun sets. Kirin enjoy wondering what else is out beyond the water. Another home? Freedom?

Kirin are noble beasts often mistaken for horse or deer. They stand roughly between 5"4 and 6"2, males however tend to be taller than the females.

Herds usually consist of a lead stallion and his harem of at least three mares, their foals and a small handful of guard stallions. The lead stallion has stronger mating rights than the guards, however the lead cannot do all the work of procreating the species. Not all Kirin breed like this, many in fact avoid being bound to a herd and are known as rogue Kirin these 'rogues' tend to breed with other individuals or life mate and walk in pairs.

Mares will all go in heat at particular times in the seasons. When a mare bears foal she will nurse them until they can eat plant matter with ease. Once a foal is of age they will either be driven from the herd to begin one of their own or remain to pair with the guard stallions. Usually female foals remain with the family while males are driven out.

Kirin carry very keen senses although like antelope their eyes react better to movement, especially for reactions to predators. Their reactions however make up for the short delay and they can run up to speeds of 80kph.

For more insight into kirin behavior, watch videos of antelope, deer, wild horses and other animals who vary between herds or rogues. This will enable you to pick and choose what behaviors you believe your kirin will obtain.

- Fertility Rise! (Extra bonus to # of foals roll)
- Higher female birth (2:1 F:M).

Summer ~ ,
- Higher male birth (1:1 M:F)
- Faster Egg hatching (1-2 days)

Autumn ~
- Normal gender birth (3:2 F:M)
- Slower Growth (25% slower)
- Increased color - (greater chance for random pattern/color mutations)

Winter ~
- Slow growth (50% slower)
- Line edited pets can have a normal breeding roll (1-6)
- Possible loss of a foal (rolled even outcome)
