Here's something completely new and cool and unexpected: the OMG Widget! It's basically a window to Gaia that sits inside your profile on a social networking site. Anyone who stops by can sign your guestbook, hang out and chat-- everything they do will help you earn exclusive items. Here's a quick rundown of what you can do:
For now, this widget is available only to members of Bebo.com. Bebo members can add the OMG widget to their profiles now!
After you download the OMG Widget, remember to show your Gaia spirit and rate it! We want to see this baby at the top of the application list.
We'll be releasing the OMG widget for other social network sites in the future. If you want to take a crack at it right away, feel free to register a free Bebo account and check it out! Stay tuned for announcements about the OMG widget on other social networks.
Why are we releasing this widget on Bebo.com first?
We started with Bebo for a couple of reasons. First of all, this will be one of the first (and definitely the best!) widgets on Bebo's brand-new application platform. It's a unique chance to be first in line to try something we think will be a great feature. Also, most of Bebo's 40 million members are in Europe and the UK, so this gives us an excellent opportunity to give Euro-Gaians the first crack at a cool new feature for once!
What in the world is a widget?
A widget is a small application that you can easily stick into a personal profile or website. The OMG widget is a little piece of Gaia that you can add to your social networking site profile. Visitors to your profile will be able to interact with Gaians and non-Gaians alike within your profile page. As visitors interact with the widget environment, they earn you exclusive items and if they register for Gaia from your widget, you get a gold bonus.
This is the first of a handful of new widgets we'll be bringing to Gaia users. There's a rumor floating around that you might even see a completely new type of widget before the end of the month.
