I was quoted at $700 at one point during the process, but something I added seemed to have dropped it to the lower amount. Didn't bother to see what it was. But in order to include the car we just got, I had to pay $20 to get the "Deluxe" service that does the tax deductions. Not sure how much "credit" I got from the car, so I don't know if the service payment was even worth it.

I wouldn't be able to tell you. My Dad does all our taxes. XD (Even mine... though I don't have any expenses or income to my name yet.)

Mom did mine the first year I needed to file them. I think I filed the next year myself, and then after that, I've been electronically filing them since.

Yeah, it's kinda easier online. The CRA offers that and sends a letter with a code you can use to access it. I don't know if they charge anything extra for it though. I think Dad tried that once, but he usually does the ye olde booklet route and then we just drop them off at the CRA offices.

(Also, did I mention that it's handy to have a Dad who's an accountant and does these things on a regular basis?
Well, he mostly does budgeting and such with his job, but it's similar-ish.)

We had one offer last year to get the State tax filed through the IRS website. Seems it's not available this year.
Most companies will do the Federal for free if you're not adding other tax deductions, retirement, etc. Just taxes based off of your income only. They tend to charge $10-$20 to do the state one.
