[[ I totally want some Sie love. Ahab could just deal with it. ]]
It was a fine day for doing nothing. Autumn was sweeping in, slowly beginning to cool off what had been left sweltering in the summer. Soon enough, it'd be way too cold to make the journey out to the shore and swim, so it seemed prudent enough to make the best of the days he had left.
Ahab sat at the water's edge of the lake with his legs drawn up to his chin, allowing the lake to lap gently at his ankles and thighs. His eyes were turned toward the distance, across the vast plane of gray water to the opposite shore, and he was thinking. Perhaps it was strange, but he felt very keen here, by the water, twirling a pebble between his fingers. There was nothing very spectacular to it at all, really, but to attach himself to this body of water made a place in him feel whole, like his tepid thoughts finally had a medium in which to center themselves around. He could focus.
And yet, he really shouldn't be out here. He knew better. Yet he could always, always count on Diago being s**t for watching him and it was far too tempting to take the advantage. Now that he had been given a suitable fill for the spring and summer, he was almost certain it'd be okay to go slipping into the water. He could make himself come back...
With a casual flick of his wrist, he sent the stone flying from his hand, watching it skip along the surface of the water four times before disappearing beneath. He was gathering up the courage to go, and there was no one there to judge him otherwise.
