1. Follow Gaia's TOS and all Breedable forum rules.
2. Do not steal the lineart or alter it in any way.
3. Respect the staff and each other. We're all teens and adults here so please act with some maturity.
4. No drama please. This shop is meant to be a fun place for everyone to gather and have a good time. If there does seem to be an issue let staff handle it.
5. Only use one account to acquire pets. Using a mule to acquire pets will get you automatically blacklisted from the shop.
6. Read the entire front page before asking questions.
7. RP is not required for stages up to adult. Elder and God stages do require RP.
8. No whining and be a good sport.
9. No begging or asking for pets, from either staff or other players.
10. Co-owning pets is not allowed.
11. Do not sell your pets. If you no longer want them then consider giving them back to the shop to re-home or re-home them to a friend who wants them.
12. Pet conversions (b/c pets, adopts, pet sites like Wajas and Flightrising) require proof of ownership in order to be converted into the shop. This can be a cert, a link to a Toyhouse account/DA account, or a link to your pet from the pet site. If using a demo image or a pet/avatar generator as a reference it can only be used as a semi-custom inspiration image unless the creator of the generator has publicly stated they are okay with direct conversions which will have to be link to.
13. AI usage is banned in the shop (main thread, guild, and discord), including AI-generated art and writing. Usage will result in immediate moderator action and disqualification in contests. If you are unsure if an art piece you have is AI-generated please contact a staff member who will help you identify if it is.
14. Have fun!
15. Rules are subject to change

Event/Sales Rules:
1. You can win as many pets as you want as long as it follows the monthly limits. Do note that the main pets, Makogis, and the Familiars have separate win limits. So you could win 1 Makogis and 1 Familiar as a free pet in a month. The monthly limits are: 2 customs a month, 2 breedings a month, 1 auction, 1 paid pet (FS, raffle, or paid game), and 1 free pet.
2. Payment is due within 24 hours of winning. If something comes up IRL that keeps you from meeting this deadline please reach out to someone on staff asap so we can work something out.
3. Payment should be sent to the mule (for events, such as auctions, sales, etc), or to the colorist for customs and breedings. Make sure to label trades as to what they are for.
4. Proxies are allowed depending on the event. See that game, sale, etc for specific details on if it's allowed or not.
5. Please make sure to have preference lists completed before the end of the event. If it's not listed on your preference list then you will be re-rolled.
6. When posting for an event or game do not edit your posts. If you are caught editing your post you will be disqualified. Just repost and all will be well.

Roleplay Rules:
1. You need to have a pet before RP'ing.
2. Do not god mode. While these pets can be powerful especially as they grow they do have limits.
3. Do not control pets who are not your's.
4. Keep things PG-13. If you want to get more graphic with your rp's take them somewhere private or off-site. This includes but isn't limited to; sex, violence, and trauma. You can reference certain things, but you can't publicly RP it in our forums or guild.
5. Please add trigger warnings to RP's containing sensitive topics or themes.
6. Back RP is allowed. You can RP at any stage of your pet that they have been at previously but just keep in mind timelines.
7. Humans do exist in this world. Also keep in mind the world setting and level of technology.
8. As of right now rp on Makogis Isle is limited to just the main shrine during the day (6 am to 6 pm). The island is off-limits during the night and to areas outside of the main shrine. This will change as things get discovered during Meta events.

    Q. How do I get one?!

      A. You can get a mask in various ways: customs, sales, raffles, auctions. Just keep an eye out for games and events to happen. If you're a newbie, that is someone with 0 pets, check out page 2 for the Newbie Freebies.

    Q. What is Makogis or Makitsu?

      A. Makogis is the word for god or goddess in this world. Makitsu is a type of Makogis that is fox like in appearance.

    Q. Are cosplays allowed?

      A. Yes cosplays are allowed. However they are just that, a cosplay. They are not the actual character they are cosplaying no matter how much you make their personality and/or history match. As such there can be multiples of the same cosplay. Each one will be different in some way whether it's a different outfit, or a different imagining of the character.

    Q. What's the big deal with the mask? Why does each pet have one?

      A. Ah the mask. The mask is basically the Makogis' lifeline and tie to this realm. Makogis guard and hide their mask only revealing it to someone they deeply trust. The consequences of the mask being damaged or destroyed can result in the Makogis becoming weak, sick, and even dying. Without the mask they do not exist.

    Q. What are the alignments to use for certing? What if I want an unusual one or one not listed

      A. See the below alignments post for full details but alignments are currently: fire, water, wind, earth, light, and dark. Unfortunately we're not allowing any alignments that are not the current shop approved ones. However that doesn't mean you are limited to using magic that is just that type. For example a Makogis who has had years of practice that has a water alignment could use ice magic, however that does not mean there is an ice alignment.

    Q. Are the lines for the Makogis a set sex or gender?

      A. The lines are a set sex but your pet can be whatever gender identity you want them to be. For certing purposes the gender is listed as male, female, or nonbinary.

    Q. I have an art piece that I bought that is AI-generated. Can I show it off in the shop thread or enter it in for a custom?

      A. No you cannot. All AI usage is banned in the shop so no AI-generated art can be shown off or used in customs. If you are unsure if an art piece is AI-generated please reach out to a staff member via PM (shop mule) or DM on discord and they'll be happy to help you.

    Q. I have an idea for a custom but no colorists have custom slots open right now. Can I bribe them to make the pet for me?

      A. A colorist can only take bribes after certain criteria is met and will publicly announce that they are taking bribes in a specified bribe thread. If they have announced that they are taking bribes then go check out their bribe thread and follow their rules for it. If they have not announced that they are taking bribes then please do not message them about taking a bribe to make a pet for you.

    Q. Can the Makogis god stages breed?

      A. No they cannot breed once they reach the god stage. Instead they can go through a rebirthing process.

    Q.

In the world of Lamagos there used to exist Gods and Goddesses known as Makogis. There were various different species of Makogis, one of them being Makitsu. They used to walk among us and we used to worship them. However as time went by they began to appear less and less and stopped giving us their blessings and sharing their magic. We began to scorn them and hate them as disease, disaster, and death visited us and we blamed them for all our troubles because those in the rulers of Cenower told us it was so.

Time passed and belief in the Gods and Goddesses all but disappeared. Sure we still held the festivals, sure we still visit the shrines, and sure we still curse them for our bad luck, or praise them for good luck. However we don’t actually believe in them. We have forgotten about the masks and their ‘children’ that they left us; that they used to give us to care for.

Few remain who truly believe in them and remember the true purpose of Makogis Isle and not the one Cenower gave it. One such person is the old man who runs the ferry to the island or at least I guess he believes. Why else would the masks appear for him to give to others? He has a small stand on the main land where there are all kinds of masks but they all seem to be the masks of Makitsu. These masks seem to call to certain people and when they come he gives them the mask with the instructions to care for it. With the masks appearing once more perhaps it means the Gods and Goddesses will return as well. We can only pray that is what it means.

Map Key: Star - Shrine; Triangle - Ruins; Dot - City; Square with Dot - Capital/Main City; Dashed lines - Boundary of Regions

A world that consists of one continent that is divided into different regions and kingdoms. There are six major regions: Cenower, Desumawet, Fetiranest, Barstenor, Wefetsoh Alliance, and the various islands. There is no modern technology so in order to travel one must walk, ride a horse, or ride in a carriage. Communication is through letters although there is a new invention called the telephone but it is unreliable and only the rich have access to it.

Cenower is by far the most complex region as it is home to only region with one kingdom, which the region is named after, which is trying to introduce a new religion. Cenower hates the idea of the Gods and Godesses and punishes all those who speak about them unless it is to curse them. Naturally no one speaks of them here and many living here do not believe anyways.

Desumawet is the largest region off to the west having invaded parts of Barstenor and South and taken them over. The West is the hottest area and holds a huge desert that is slowly growing and destroying Wefetsoh Alliance. There are several kingdoms in this region, more than any of the others besides the Islands. They are Osider, Decosullet, Sidepinst, and Adenesir.

Fetiranest is the most fertile land and home to many farms and several kingdoms. This region lies to the east. They are Feramenst Kingdom, Tilarad Kingdom, Lefallost Kingdom. Fetiranest is now the second largest region since Wefetsoh Alliance had been invaded by Desumawet.

Barstenor, a region to the north, is a harsh land barren of most life. There are a couple of old kingdoms remaining, Corinnoth Kingdom and Norgaerl Kingdom, but they face constant threat from Desumawet. Barstenor is also the coldest region especially the further north you go.

Wefetsoh Alliance is the land with the most water and lies to the south. There are many forests in this area and many lakes. However this is slowly changing due to the desert in
Desumawet expanding.

There are numerous islands surrounding the continent which form the last region. One of which is the Holy Island or Makogis Isle and it is considered sacred ground and not part of any kingdom.

The Makogis Isle holds all the shrines of the Gods and Goddesses and was filled with masks. Now-a-days it is hard to find any of the masks the Gods and Goddesses left for the people to care for. It is a tourist spot now but in the past it was a place of worship and where pilgrims would go when on a pilgrimage.

Makogis Isle is mostly in ruins save for the ‘main’ shrine since that is the one the tourists all go to. Also it is interesting to note that no one understands how many shrines exist on the Makogis Isle and how it seems to be so big, as it has been charted from the sea and is known to be a certain size. Yet still the island holds more than it is physically possible. This had once been explained that the island is home of the gods and goddesses and thus a form of heaven and knows no boundaries that we humans place on it.

Mask: A mysterious mask that old man all but forced upon you when he noticed that you were interested in it. You can tell it’s not an ordinary mask especially after he told you that taking good care of it results in a surprise in about a week.

Child: A strange creature that appeared a week after you got your mask. The kit resembles the mask and has most likely hidden the mask somewhere in your home. At this stage the kit is adventurous and loves to play tricks. It is also showing hints of having magical powers. Stage lasts for 2 weeks.

Adult: After sometime your kit is finally grown to an adult. It has up to eight tails and is quite the prankster. It has good control over its magic and is extremely loyal to you. This is the typical final stage for these pets. They are also able to breed now but require paying a visit to the breeding shrine/old man. Stages lasts forever unless rp'd

Elder: After great care and training your pet may be able to grow further. The elder is wise and powerful, clearly as they have nine tails, but still enjoys a good prank. Will-o-wisps naturally form around them and follow wherever they go. They are still able to breed and are more likely to get more masks out of it. It takes a certain amount of rp to reach this stage. Please see the Growth Requirement thread in the guild for more information.

God/dess: A rumored growth that they can hit. So far no one has seen one but they are said to resemble the humans and the creature. A God/dess is typically a guardian over something in particular but as belief and faith in them fade another one can be born to replace them as the guardian (in other words there can be more than one guardian of something). This generally leads to fighting between the two, especially if they are aligned differently. They are not able to breed at this stage but able to go through this ‘rebirthing’ process. It takes a certain amount of rp to reach the child form of this stage after that they will grow into an adult God/dess after 2 weeks. Please see the Growth Requirement thread in the guild for more information.

A child can only do small magic that is within their element alignment. An adult can do all sorts of magic in their alignment (strength depends on number of tails) and sometimes small magic in an alignment close to theirs. All adults can use illusion magic, children can also but it tends to be weak and easy to break. All Elders can summon a will-o-wisp and are able to do very strong magic in their alignment and some small-medium magic in an alignment close to theirs. Gods and Goddesses are the most powerful creatures but they are only limited to doing magic in their alignment again.

All of the creatures become proficient to a certain type of magic and it is called their alignment. The known alignments are: fire, water, wind, earth, light, and dark. One for each region and each region is associated with or rather known for one alignment. Cenower calls the dark, the Islands call the light, Wefetsoh Alliance calls water, Desumawet calls fire, Barstenor calls wind, and Fetiranest calls earth. Makogis are not limited to live in the same region as their alignment. They can live and roam wherever they please.

Just because these 6 are the known alignments doesn’t mean that the creatures can’t use certain other magic. A creature skilled in the water alignment can use ice magic, just like one in the earth can use wood, plant, or even some sort of metal magic. These are uncommon magic that take years of training and skill to use. Gods and Goddesses can share the same alignment with others as they all use their magic in that alignment differently.

Oh well it appears those two adults are quite in love. Have you explained the birds and the bees to them? No?! WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING!? *cough* I apologize.... here these magical beings don’t reproduce like we do. Instead they go with their owners to the shrine on Makogis Isle and leave an offering and pray for ‘babies’ or rather masks. If the offering is accepted then in a few weeks a mask or masks will appear at the shrine or with the old man that resemble the parents. Oh and since this is a magical process that we have no clue about on how it really works so it allows for same sex partners to breed.

'Baby' Information:
1-2 masks if one owner is involved, 2 masks guaranteed if two owners are involved.
+5 rps grant an extra mask, +10 rps grant 2 extra masks..... you can only get 2 extra masks with rp. Extra masks must be given away, aka you can only keep one mask.

Breeding Rules:
1) Both pets must be adults and be certed.
2) Both owners must consent to the breeding. There will be a breeding permissions thread in the guild that owners must post in before entering for a breeding. This agreed upon permission is then entered into the breeding form.
3) Send trade of 1k plat to the colorist doing the breeding after it has been approved. Label the trade please.
4) Post any ancestors if you want throwbacks. We will not track them down for you.
5) Randoms are possible but you have to mark if you are okay with that.
6) Gods cannot breed. Instead they can go through the Rebirthing Process.

Rebirthing Process:

Only Gods and Goddesses can go through this. Do note that you will lose your god/dess. At the end of their life or when they are low on power they can choose to be reborn as a new mask. The new mask will be similar to the god/dess and may retain some memories or powers but it is a whole new creature.

  • Only adult stage God/dess pets can go through Rebirthing.
  • This is entirely voluntary and you do not have to have them go through the Rebirthing.
  • A new mask will be made to represent your newly rebirth Makogis. They may have some of the same colors or markings but they will be a whole new creature. Basically they will be a semi-custom inspired by the Makogis going through the rebirth and another inspiration image.
  • Slots will be announced when they open up for the Rebirthing process.
