thank you for the gift, mallow! i cant believe you’ve made sooo many halloween/autumn avis! i really really like the bright green skin and adding purple to it. So chic and classic💗
You're welcome, and thank you!! The molu skin tends to look really nice with black for some reason, I made a mermaid with that combo earlier this year for Mermay. Honestly, this is only like half of what I have. I made some of these way back in the year, but was saving them all for October without realizing there were so many! I think I'm gonna end up posting some in November as spillover, but I really want to get all the witches and full background ones in this month, so I'll need to do another big dump next week as well.
i’m in awe of your brain!! random question but is your irl job also on the creative side? Those mermaid avis are soo dang good. it might be the contrast between the molu and something dark?
Thank you so much! I wouldn't say my job is very creative, no. I'm a software engineer for a defense contractor, so it's all very regimented. Gaia is blocked at work, so I usually only have avi making time on the weekends. Maybe it's the pent up creativity, haha! This year I've been mostly inspired by the books I'm reading.
Yeah, maybe the molu+black combo has that satisfying look of something glow-in-the-dark.
i feel you with the pent up creativity! when i was on hiatus, i started journaling and i think it helped me a lot. it was mixed medium - cut outs, stickers, calligraphy, watercolour but i couldn’t keep up and i found myself back here 😅
Another thing i need to get back to doing is reading books. i was once obsessed with the in death series by JD Robb and made these layouts that followed the colour scheme of each book cover

I've never been good at journaling, that sounds really impressive! I do crochet and stuff like that in addition to gaia, but making avis is less of a hassle than physical crafts haha!
Wow! Thank you for showing me! That's so cool! I'm not familiar with that series, but the layout looks intriguing!

crochet is amazing though! you can actually make useful things which you can’t really do with journaling.
happy to share - the series has about 60 books (and ongoing) and this was my way of summarising them because i’ve had to re-read the entire series in the past when a new book came out 😅

I mostly make little dolls and plushies, so most of it is just decorative crochet. I did make some coasters for my desk at work, though. Journaling is like a time capsule of whatever it is that you are trying to capture when you make a page!
That's such a smart idea! I am terrible at following through with series and it would help a lot if I kept some notes about what happens in the books. I usually look back at my reviews to try to jog my memory, but I am often vague in the reviews to avoid giving spoilers!
Halloween avi dump time! Mostly witches. I have a bunch of spooky boys I wanted to post together, but I'll post the witch ones now in case I can't post the rest of the boys in time for the end of October. Click to favorite.
Continuing my use of calabash + butter avis, but this time with a boy witch!
This one started with me wanting to use the Decaying Kindled Connection hair which I then ended up not using once I put on this arm pose and wanted to keep the kitty. The rest of the avi was mostly trying to work with the arms.
I made this vampire lady last Christmas! She started out as a Christmas avi using those buns, but then she turned spooky and I wanted to wait to post her when she'd be more seasonally appropriate.
This one started with the mask, but I like the face I made to go under the mask so much that I think I actually prefer that version.
Couldn't decide what background and hair color I preferred for this one. I think maybe I'm partial to the seabreeze version? Thanks to batty for encouraging me to make another zombie even though I was worried about having made too many, these boots just screamed zombie to me when they came out.
This started with me trying to make a witch with the Do Not Speak hair, but then at some point I decided to make a konpeito version instead? I don't know if the fog hair really works with it or not, but I wanted to use the Do Not Speak bangs and I wanted a color that wasn't already in the konpeito scheme.
I made this one because I was thrilled that I had finally gotten Pestilence the crow. I ended up just buying the equip since I don't actually need the kindred because I already have the original Plague. I'm sure someone else has already figured out how amazingly the Miss Muffet legs go with this broom pose, but it was a new discovery to me. Arguably Pestilence ended up being the least cohesive element here, but I don't care and I'm keeping it.
My goodness, I still have more Halloween avis, but I'll cut myself off there for today. Maybe tomorrow I'll have time to post more of the full background ones because I have a whole lot of those left to post, too.
love these new entries! i think the final one may be my favorite, but it's so hard to choooooose. don't you just love when you try to build an avi up around a specific item and it ends up being the least cohesive part? happens to me all the time, i love that you kept him. pestilence is so cute!
actualdeerooze generated a random number between
1 and 500 ...
81!

Thank you! I like this last batch a lot as well. I'm so glad you like the last one! I was worried she was too simple. Plague the Crow and Brew the Frog are such top tier kindreds in my opinion.

that reminds me, you can totally crochet clothes for your plushies!
reviews are definitely helpful - it sounds like you do more than my usual ‘that was enjoyable, would recommend’ emotion_awesome

btw ilove the two ribonnes avi you made!!
That's true! I actually have sewn some clothes for some of the crochet dolls I've made, and I have crocheted them little scarves and such.
Thank you, and thank you for the encouragement when I was making them!
moth wowowowow. You're halloween avis are stellar! That vampire lady has my whole soul.
Also I feel like you just Know when I change my avi because you keep favouriting them every time I do lol
//I'm flattered.
Ah, thank you so much!! I was really happy with how the vampire lady turned out as well!
Haha, I usually see you in my friends on the My Gaia page and when I see that your little headshot looks different I go check to see what the rest of the avi looks like. All of your avis are worth faving

It's so balanced and elegant ahhh I really do love her. I don't make femme avis because avis feel too much as a representation of me rather than a blank slate like my mannequins do (changing mannequins is part of my irl job) but I really want to put a big fancy outfit like that together now ahhhh. Chomping at the bit for social dress season now
It really do be like "Oh rheo's changed his avi let me look" and then you smash fav that's so sweet ahhhh. I don't get a lot of favs because I hardly post despite being on every day so it always warms me to see your name pop up in my notifications : )

Thank you! I feel like she has a lot of personality/storytelling as well. I try to go for a good sense of "character" with my avis, like they could be in a book/movie/video game, but sometimes I'm just playing with colors. It makes perfect sense that if you view avis as more of a self avatar that you would want them to fit your own presentation and aesthetic. I would love to see your take on a formal wear version of your avis! Also, your mannequins are very lucky and I bet their outfits are always killer.
I feel like I don't post much either, I have a couple daily bump threads I visit and I try to keep this closet updated. Sometimes I try to help out in the "What's that item?" thread, but I know most people online hang out in chatterbox. I'm glad my fav notifications are welcome! I worry sometimes that it's too spammy, but I legitimately want to save them all.
