grotto is such an underrated color scheme i adore it so much crying
beautiful!!!
I know! Rheostatic has been working hard at putting out enough recolors that it gets officially adopted as a scheme. It's a fun scheme to work with because it blends into existing nori and gunmetal items.
He came about because I wanted to make an avi with this legmod. I am a sucker for tree-stump poses, but this one was a little tricky since the art style is older. I tried to match it up with other older items with softer edges, and I also challenged myself not to rely on any schemes. He looks like the comic relief side character in a fantasy adventure. I had wanted to give him arrows as a weapon, but the only good arrow pose I had was the same item I was using for the chest shoulder straps; I try not to use the same item more than once on an avi, if I can help it. I eventually found this dagger that works, I think. The amount of layering on his top is silly.
I feel like my equip lists are always so short when I'm not doing a face. I've liked this head mod ever since it came out, and I've been listening to the Gravekeeper books by Darcy Coates on audiobook which gave me some inspiration to finally try to use it. The legs came next, then the sleeves, and then this shadow figure ended up becoming something of an aristocrat. They may look evil, but they are actually quite charming and happy to help you banish evil spirits as long as you don't accidentally banish them too.

As a fellow ghostie (are we accidentally matching?? I actually noticed your avvie yesterday right after changing into this...stars are aligning somewhere out there) I approve, immensely, of your aristocratic spectre. I love the touches of sauvignon throughout, it’s such a gorgeous, understaded shade of purple. 3nodding
(Also, as someone whose head routinely occupies between one and two thirds of the entire equip list—it’s sort of discombobulating whenever you use a headmod and suddenly end up with a breezy item rundown, isn’t it? I really relate to that, hahah.)
(Double also—the mage you made for blood’s Monthly Challenge is so!!! Ah!!! I am cradling them in my hands as we speak!!!!! Adorable, handsome, AND gorgeous!!!!! A perfect all-kill!!!!!!)

I'm very honored to be accidentally matching with you! September is unofficially the start of spooky season, so maybe that's why we both ended up channeling the spirits. Yours is so adorable! I've tried to use those arms a few times and they are tricky, you did a great job!
Aww, thank you for the compliments on the mage! I was really happy that hood paired so well with the angel item top.
Little dump of simple casual avis I haven't posted. I have more, but I think these are the most "done." Click to favorite.
Started with the boots, I feel like they are placed a little high so they make the legs look a bit short. I tried to work with that and make it intentional, then I randomly added a ghost cat because why not?
Started with the coat and then it turned into a Course/Dijon avi. More leaves than I would usually put on a casual avi, but I'm including her in this dump anyway.
This was an early attempt at using Dijon before a lot of the more recent items came out. I started with the arm pose holding the acorn. I hoped Dijon would pair well with that shade of yellow, but I do think maybe they're a little too different, so I added more shades of yellow/gold/brown to make it less clashy.
I honestly don't remember how she started. Maybe the coat? My favorite part is the hair.
Someone was looking for these pants in the What's That Item? thread. I was surprised I was able to identify them from their seated pose, and then I tried to make an avi with them out of appreciation for a well done seated leg mod that doesn't just tuck the legs awkwardly.
Another dump of simpler, more casual avis with a bit of a witchy/demon theme. Click to favorite.
This poor demon has been waiting since like summer 2023 to get posted.
I think this one started with the shoes? I made her in 2023 at some point. I originally was using the same summoning circle items as the previous avi, until I found these instead.
My first attempt at using the lofi scheme. I actually had made a version before the jelly jacket item came out, but then I thought it might fit and tweaked her to make it work. I really like how toxic looks with lofi, and I like how her makeup turned out. Two versions because I can't decide which shirt looks better.
The most subdued of the bunch, I made her in mourning of the fact I couldn't get As Scene On 2k before it sold out. These pants have a similar vibe to those pants, which was the inspiration. I changed up her hair quite a lot, at first I wanted it to be really simple but brightly colored, but then I decided to use the tawny buns instead and have just the tattoo and makeup be more colorful.
Happy Witchtober! I posted many witches last October, so we'll see how many I make for 2024. Witch avis are probably my favorite kind of avi to make, so I tend to make a bunch throughout the year, but I tried to save some for this month and I'll probably make more.

I made this witch towards the start of the year when I was making a lot of fairy tale characters. I started with the hair and wanted to re-use these boots because they worked so well as witch boots before. While I re-used a lot of poses for her attire that I have used before, I got to use some different background items other than my usuals. I love how she turned out, she may end up being my favorite witch of the month.
Another witch so soon!? I absolutely loved the regular gatsby's trixie treat legs avi and how they paired the legs with the frankencoat. They were kind enough to allow me to twin with them so I could copy the excellent combo they came up with. I wanted to do a witchly version, but to my surprise the coat actually doesn't come in creamsicle or saturn, so I went with the offblack and silver option and tried to add some gray and silver elements to make it work. I liked how the bats match the little bat around her neck, too.
Made some avis with the October Angel Item and posted them in bloodwitch's thread.
This post features the first of a series I've made of spooky avis with backgrounds, as I've been trying to get better at using them. For now I'm still on team preferring avis without them, but I thought it would be fun to take advantage of the spooky lighting and filter effects for Halloween that I can't normally use on avis without backgrounds. My goal is to post them all before the end of the month, but also interspersed with more witches and other Halloween themed avis that are more my usual style.

I agree that the legs look like little peets, so I made a mouse scout who has found some unusual mushrooms she's trying to identify.
I wanted to use the top pose as well and I liked how the decorations on the Something There skirt sort of blended onto the sleeves. I made a casual version first and then I decided to try to make her a little spooky as well since it's spooky season.
I had actually started this ghost avi before while experimenting with backgrounds and was looking for more spooky wrapping options, then realized the tape pose on the angel item worked perfectly.
