Hey Gaians,

Today we wanted to take some time to clear up our expectations and policies when it comes to hosting and running auctions. Below is our policy for auctions and how we expect Gaians to conduct themselves when it comes to these types of deals.

Auction Policy

  • You cannot cancel or extend your auction once bids have started. You may only extend or cancel your auction if no bids have taken place.

  • You should start your auction with a minimum bid that you would accept for your item/art/service/etc to ensure that you are satisfied with the results of your auction.

  • Failure to do so can result in you not getting the amount you want and you will have to accept the final bid.

  • Bids cannot be retracted and are binding. If you are not sure that you actually have enough to bid, then do not bid.

  • Bids may not be PMed. Bids must remain public for any user to see.

  • The winner of the auction and the auctioneer enter a contract when the auction ends. Both are now obligated to fulfill their end of the bargain.

  • Either party may decide to cancel their obligations, only if the other party agrees to it. If the other party does not agree, then the contract is considered valid and must be fulfilled.

  • With regards to Gaia items, often times Gaians will list an item and ask to take offers on it. This is not considered an auction and thus, the rules do not apply to a "taking offers" situation. However, once the seller actually begins an auction process, then the rules apply.
