Whats the hello project anyway?
Might be a launch of a voice chat system with accual talking capabilities, or a hello kitty endourcment.

Or it could be a feature for welcoming new accounts. ninja

Wasn't it supposed to be for new users? Like, giving them the basics as to how everything works (therefore eliminating the LOL WAT DO i DO 3 ERN GOLD?? threads), making them read a condensed version of the sticky information, and that sort of thing?

The Personals was actually moderator hell. If I ever felt sadistic or that I wasn't modding enough, all I had to do was go in there to clean out the boards. sweatdrop

I wouldn't say that "Oh yes, the Personals was a fun place until a couple of people messed it up for the rest of us". Personals was the cesspool of Gaia, the place where there are so many threads that catching every single offender is impossible, since more threads keep spawning. Three a minute. Five a minute. TEN a minute! They breed like roaches! And although there were decent threads in there, there was just too many 'roaches' to deal with (I laughed when you said "you guys make it seem so horrible) that the admins just closed it down.
After a while the mods stoped caring, some how I see history repeating it'self.

What do you base that off of?
Really, they posted violations faster than they could be removed. So even though we removed tons of bad personals (and banned quite a few users daily for it), it never made a dent as far as anyone on the outside could see.

The mods stopped caring? sweatdrop What gave you that impression? There were moderators who worked specifically in those boards.

EDIT: *throws bananas and hearts at Ryonin*

I think hes basing it off the Chatterbox
i doubt that the personals will ever come back because they were suck a pain in the a** i'd say probably a majority of the posts in there were offers to cyber but there were a few good posts

History is repeating itse;f just in a different place, gaia has a good 12000 users online at once clock round right? Gaia moderation staff just can't handle it. there are around 100 gaia mods with about 2-3 of them activly moderating? It just won't cut it, cybering has run rampid. Rulebreaking has never been higher.

Mod how ever many can't handle eintire forums of gaia, it really falls under report from regular users. I work as a mod in a 500 member guild, even on a slow day i'm busy warning and banning.

I'm online modding; I'm just on at 1:40 in the morning, so I don't want to have to deal with too many PMs. So I hide my online status. And I'm not the only moderator who's ninja-modding.

... Which is one of the issues we have to work out, so there are more mods 'online'. sweatdrop

And how does that suggest to you that mods have/will stop caring? sweatdrop

cool it i'm sure some of the mods are taking break like Ryonin but you are right if you go into the chatterbox and on the first page you see a lot of threads like boys chained to walls, girls in cages, i even saw one with pm= serious in the thread title once

If you were swamped with tons of PMs any time you were visible, and you basically had to read (and respond) each and every one, what would you do?

Would you just keep responding to each and every one while you were logged in? When you log out, you'd be leaving a dozen PMs unread, and a dozen more would be sent before it finally removed you from the list of available moderators.

Or would you go invisible after a certain amount, adress each issue, then go visible for the next group?

Maybe you have too many to respond to. Maybe you'd hand those off to another moderator to balance the work load?
