You haven't played a watermeat in the last couple of hours then. The drop rate of coins is as slow as a cuttle fish. I just had 4 glowing meats in my tank and the people grabbing got about 400g for the entire game. Not 400g for each fish. For the entire game. I am through.

This must be new. I've played a watermeat tank a few hours ago and they dropped fast. I will check this.
I sit just me, or have the meats been nerfed again? I noticed today that the number of coins that appear with each wave has decreased, and that the meats no longer black out for me before a Booty Grab game ends.

Really. What the hell? neutral

I agree. This is getting pretty ridiculous.

Here's my example.

Take WORLD OF WARCRAFT. When they NERF something in WoW to balance the game, yes, some players may be upset IF their class was NERFED, BUT since all players PAY a SUBSCRIPTION FEE, there is some sort of AGREEMENT that the game will change for everyone.

Now...

Take GAIA in retrospect. When the site is hailed as FREE, but offers content that costs REAL MONEY available to SOME who are willing to pay, but not ALL... why do SOME suffer who pay MONEY?

Do you see my point here?
If everyone is paying equally to play, everyone gets nerfed equally.
If everyone is NOT paying equally to play...on Gaia, you get screwed anyways.

I'm talking about my investment as a tank owner. I bought 15 Aquarium Bundle #4 off of the MP. Those have a $$$ value of $150. So, as far as I'm concerned, I traded my gold for $150 worth of watermeats. I won't get into specifics on my cost in gold, but looking at the way tanks worked, I figured I could make my investment back and maybe more if I invest time in advertising my tank.

Honestly, I hope one of two things happens.

1.) Gaia finds other ways to decrease inflation and stops F'ing BOOTY GRAB, returning it to its previous glory as a fun thing to do on Gaia.
2.) Gaia screws itself and no one supports aquariums anymore.

$7.50 fish x15 = $112.50

Wow... That's an entire year of subscription to WoW, or any other MMO for that matter.

Gaia better not release a $10 fish that drops the way Watermeat used to. I'm mentioning that, because I'm sure it's around the corner. burning_eyes

If you DO that, you will prove that it isn't about balancing the gameplay and economy as much as it is about balancing your bank account.
That sucked!!! scream WTF Gaia!?

IMO everuone should stop buying cash stuff til they stop f'ing up the things... scream
HAH! I play WoW as well and have since beta, so I have seen the massive amounts of nerfs that they have had to any given class. When they nerf something it is usually done to certain aspects of different classes and not just one. But yes, people still scream and hollar. I spend more money on here in a month than I do for a years worth of play time on WoW, which is kinda sad and gets me made fun of ALL the time. razz

The thing is. Gaia IS listening to us. I know that they are. They'd have to be silly not to. But at the same time they have these economists that are talking to them about the gaia gold community and they can see that it's having issues, which it is. But they need to realize that every economy is going to have inflation issues. Gaia has been around for some years now. You can't compare the first few years to now and get an accurate answer. More people are around. There's more gold in the system. And there will continue to be more gold made by those that horde or work the MP.

I know that this is a social website and that's what I love about it. But once you introduce ANY kind of money into the system, wether it be Gaia gold or Gaia cash, it ceases to become purely about community.

Gaia has ******** up big time.

I'm going to make this my slogan, soon, I swear.

I dare you, Corporate - prove us wrong.
You've ******** up the economy - big whoop. Communicate with your users and you'll find hundreds of solutions.
You've ******** up Watermeats (to be specific) - bad business. You've done away with (my tally so far) over $3,400 in the last few hours. These were also repeat customers - your loss is not confined to Fish. You're losing now on the $10 EIs and the $3 MCs - and considering many people would hoard these, you're losing a ******** of money.

I'm being crude, yes. I'm being immature, no.

I'm fed up with what you're doing - and I'm not even a paying customer! I'm also usually quite placid and passive - you've ******** up big time to get me to do this.

Gaia, you're a business. You need to consider your customers before you sell them defective products. I dare you, Developers - reason with me on this one.

Your products are now fully defective - they no longer drop as much as they used to, tank owners are no longer able to get as much out of them and their MP will most likely plummet thanks to your stupidity and rash action.

Business Tip #1: Long term solutions > Short term "fixes"

I dare you, Gaia - do something right and prove us wrong.
I also dare you, Developers and Corporate - contact me. I want to hear your reasons.

Communication is a two-way street. We want our voice heard, we want to hear your reasons. You want your reasons heard, you want your actions accepted. Convince us.
I just got a tank with 5 watermeat! OMG I almost fell over b.c that is a lot! I grabbed a whopping 434 gold! Then, I get a tank with one memphis and a night fish and got 345ish! This change is so bad! Stop changing the game gaia!

Ok, this is really bad.

1. I had to browse 58 pages of a high trigger thread to find one tank with glowing watermeats. Are they low trigger now??

2. The nerf is much too bad. They drop 2 blue coins in the same time rate Lila drops one. But Lila drops normal coins as well and lives way longer than a watermeat. So if it stays like this Lila is way more profitable than a watermeat. You don't have to be a genius to realize this. So I suppose many users will rather build a lila tank than buying watermeats. I'd suggest either you increase the drop rate of watermeats again (this is even worse than decreasing their max to 200g) or you increase the percentage a tank owner gets to 40%.

3. I've asked several times for information but my questions are still unanswered. I have the strong feeling you want to keep us uninformed about important things like trigger rates of newer fishes, changes to trigger rates of older fishes, max gold a fish gives out, etc.

4. I will keep up my researches and I really hope you'll find a way to balance the newest nerf on the watermeats out.

Annatalista's Husband

This sucks!

It has suddenly become MORE profitable to Booty Grab a Tank with Jelly Fish, Penguins, Turtles and Ninja Fish over a Tank like mine stacked with 15 Water Meats!

So... have I just gotten anally raped, or was that just foreplay and there's more to come?

How about a reach around, Gaia! SRSLY!

The problem isn't so much BG as it is Gaia focusing all their time and effort on the CS instead of the shops and gold sink ideas. I really have to agree about the unfairness of the watermeat nerf as well - not only do they hardly ever glow for me, the amount they put out must have just been nerfed again, as I grabbed a couple meats in a tank in this thread, and only ended up with 219g. :/

@Aldo Simoncini: In that tank I mentioned grabbing, BTW, they were only dropping one blue coin at a time. >.<

That's actually a good idea.

It doesn't change the fact that I no longer want to waste my time BOOTY GRABBING at all, because it isn't profitable.

Lemme break it down like this.

User A has a source of Income.

If User A works 1 hour making minimum Wage at McDonalds, they make $5.
They then use their $5 to buy a Classilke.
They sell their new Classilke for 100,000 gold on the MP.
1 HOUR of work = 100,000 Gaia Gold.

User B has NO source of Income.

If User B spends 1 hour BOOTY GRABBING, they make 10,000 gold. (Before the nerfs, MAYBE)

User A = 1hr/100,000g/$5
User B = 1hr/10,000g/$0

How do we determine the cash value of User B's time? Simple! Divide $5 by 10! You get $0.50

IN CONCLUSION: Before the nerfs, playing booty grab rewarded users at a rate of fifty cents per hour.

AFTER THE NERFS, HALF THAT IS MORE REALISTIC!

I can understand that Gaia is for entertainment, but I don't get very much entertainment catching gold coins, I get entertainment spending gold coins.

The only fun in playing BG is making LOTS OF GOLD.

SINCE WHEN IS MAKING SOMETHING LESS FUN A GOOD IDEA?

we are still playing with the gold values in boot grab and although you might see changes in availability of individual fish we will no longer play with the gold amount caps on individual fish. Therefore Watermeats have been restored to their original maximum amount. Thanks for bringing my attention to this!

But you have changed it so they only give out HALF as many blue coins during a grab - it is not possible to get 300 because they don't give out enough coins to reach that amount. I have just finished playing 2 different grabs with watermeats after reading this and my husband watched and checked my count - I got all but 2 blue coins in a watermeat and memphis grab. I also got most of the gols coins and most of the greem coins dropped by the memphis and I did not make 300 IN TOTAL.

That post of his is a couple of days old, so I'm still waiting to see what he has to say about what's going on right now.
