Welcome to Gaia! ::

Ok..This is slightly annoying. Let's paint a little picture here for anyone that knows something about BG.

Memphis Mermaid - Costs 749 GC - Lives 40 weeks - Goes black after 250g (? May be 300)
Lila Mermaid - Costs 120k on MP (sometimes more) - Lives 40 weeks - Goes black after 250g (? May be 300)
Watermeat - Costs 749 GC - Lives 25 weeks - Goes black after 200g

Seriously? 200g? Just the other day it was 300. Then it was 250. Now it's down to 200. So that means when you grab 200g from that one fish then it stops producing any gold at all.

A friend just grabbed in a pure watermeat tank that is exactly like mine. She got 5 watermeats to glow and once she hit 1000 gold the game just stopped and the last meat went black, so it couldn't be grabbed from anymore. You can get into a 5 Mermaid tank of any sort and get more than that. And they last 15 weeks longer than the watermeat does. That is an unecessary and unfair nerf considering the lifespan of the watermeat.

I know people are worried about the economy on Gaia, but there are also people like me that spend quite a bit of money on our tanks. Mine so far has cost over $130 for just the fish. If they are going to make them produce less than a mermaid then they should at least bump the lifespan of the fish so I don't have to shell out another $130 over the next 25 weeks on top of all of the EIs that I buy. Mind you, I don't buy the EIs and then sell them on the MP. I buy them for my own personal use and that's it.

Quite honestly, there won't be any economy if Gaia goes out of business when the market for the better fish goes out the window. And I can assure you that a nice chuck of their money comes from just that alone. With the lower glow rates and the changes they have made to the max of the meats, anyone that paid $7.49 per fish just got the shaft. sad
I understand your beef... But they're trying to figure out the gold system right now, to try and figure out what will up the value of gold. Booty Grab, unfortunately, is counteractive to that, introducing massive amounts of gold into the system. They had to lessen the odds and goldgrants just for that.

Who knows, fish might get un-nerfed. But right now, the booty grab's been limited so we can maybe get this gold inflation thing under control. sad

It's still possible to make a lot of gold, as far as I've noticed. I just B-grabbed, like, 2k in 20 minutes. That's still pretty good. *shrug*
They nerfed the gold gain on things, so you earn more gold posting in the forums, making people be more social.
Oh, I am quite sociable. This is my second account. My first account has a comparable tank as well.

I know that they need to get a handle on the economy. I understand that and sympathize with it. But at the same time, to put a 200g limit on a fish that costs the same as another, but lives 15 weeksless is kinda...meh. That's really my only issue. If they wanted to lower the output of gold, then great. I'm all for that. They should at least make them comparable with the mermaids then. Heck, I just got into a lila tank with 6 glowy ladies and got 950g from it. That's with hitting a power down or 2 because my puppy kept trying to get into my lap. razz

^^Or people can't play bootygrab for themselves and rely on others playing their tank, like myself^^

Personally I was kind of dissapointed that the Watermeats had such a short lifespan. I was going to get one but I don't think it was worth it. :/
. . .So Deal With It
the problem i see with this is...people spent some BIG money to make watermeat tanks, and now they get ******** over for spending all that money. in my opinion that's pretty shitty.

Ok I'm really confused by this, could someone take me by the hand and walk me through it?

Goes black? Does that mean in an active booty grab game the "fish" will stop giving gold once it has put out a certain amount? Or does that mean once that "fish" has given out 200 gold TOTAL it will stop giving out gold period?

Ok. What it means is that each fish has a certain amount of gold it can grant. Say you are in a tank with two glowy watermeats. One of them grats 200g and then greys out on your. It doesn't swim around anymore, it doesn't give out any gold. It does nothing. The other will keep giving gold until it has given you 200 as well.

My point has been stated here a few times by other uses now. The really nice thing about the watermeat was that it would grant a max of 300g. Now the thing about the watermeat is that it ONLY drops blue coins. No gold coins. But it also drops them at a slower rate than the other fish. It isn't this instant massive rain of coins falling at you like the mermaids drop.

My biggest issue now is the life span. The REAL money that I put into my tank isn't going to deliver what I thought it would. I wouldn't have spent that much money if I had known. I would have worked my way up to another Lila tank. keep in mind that I also have 6 watermeat in my main tank, so that is $172 that I have spent to get completly shafted.

If they were going to make the changes, they should have done it slowly. Take the watermeat and any fish that are for sale in Phin Phang out completely in their current form and sell modified fish in their place. That way when the fish died out then there would be no more like the current forms for sale other than any residuals that might be up on the MP. So you would have the current Watermeat phased out with the new ones with the new gold drop rates up for sale instead. At least that way they wouldn't be crippling the current investment that people have made.

Ohhh ok, I get it now. Thank you.

I bought my fish because I wanted to have them in my tank. I don't really get into the whole booty grab that much but I can see how it would irk those that bought certain fish just for the booty grab value they thought that fish would have.

I really haven't noticed any change. I played on Monday for a few hours (around 3 1/2) and made 20k. The past two days I only played a little and I haven't seen any stop dropping gold after a certain amount.

In all honesty, the BG puts entirely too much gold in to the system and the gold grants should be dropped. The more gold that is in the system the higher the prices in the marketplace, so they have one of two choices:

1.) Come up with another large goldsink, that is permanent.
2.) Adjust the amount of gold going in to the economy.
There are some people that just aren't all that into it, and that's ok! To each their own. There's a lot of things to do on this site that are fun. My favorites happen to be chit chatting with friends in the forums and playing BG on their tanks when they pop up.

I personally won't be spending anymore money on gaia cash items until they decide to fix all of this. I'm not going to pay good money and then have the product not deliver like it is supposed to. It's just bad buisness, Gaia. sad Way to mess over a good portion of the people that pay to keep this place running.

Here is what Gaia will be missing out on from me alone.

I agree entirely. BG DOES put too much gold into the economy. But once they decided to fix it, they should have done so in a way that wouldn't mess over the people that bought items thinking that they were going to perform in a certain way. Imagine if someone bought an EI because they said it was going to have a bunch of cool male clothing, only to find out that it's full of dresses. People would be upset and rightly so. The difference there is that you guys could turn around and sell that EI that you're unhappy with on the MP and try to make some money off of it. We have no such option since the fish become soulbound as soon as they're put into the tank. My issue right now is the cost of the watermeat versus their life span. it's stupid. They offer LESS gold than the mermaids and only live for 25 weeks instead of 40, yet they cost the same as a Memphis. We simply aren't getting what we paid for now. Not at all.

You cannot fix an economy over night or with a few little tweaks here and there. They could have handled this in a much better way that wouldn't have hurt the investment that people have made so far.

I'm sure they considered it, however. Since these fish never leave the store, people would just continue to buy them vs. other fish because of the grants that they give out so nothing would ever really get solved.

To fix it they are going to have to make changes to all the fish regardless. I understand how you feel though and it sucks really bad for those who bought them. Maybe they should adjust the life span of the fish so people don't feel so cheated?
