I used to be happy to have the sales...but I have to agree, the gap between the sales are too close, BFS doesn't feel so special anymore with all these (insert event here) sale and then an ambush sale a few hours or a day after. All these back-to-back-to-back-to-back sales makes me want to hold on to my gc more than spend it

I understand that Gaia is a business and needs to make money, but jfc that's a shitload of items. And I see only two "unexpected" items worth less than 149 GC. What happened to the micro in microtransactions?

I was actually thinking that I'd compare last month in terms of Cash items Vs. Free/Gold items in both pose and item number to two or three years ago. Like see if we're still getting the same percentage of free items to premium items.

I know, it's really a shame. Apart from the regular MCs, EIs, and CIs, everything else for the most part is catered the the massive spenders. And even thoes people who can drop 5000GC here and there would be overwhelmed if they wanted to get a lot of the items on the last within a two month span.
I did some quick math, and to buy every one of the items on "sale", you'd have to spend 114894 GC. That's more than plenty to get into Club Verge, so let's add the cost of all the Halo/Wings/Horn/Tail to that, or the 193800 GC you'd need to drop to get just those. The other listed Club Verge items add another 79000 GC onto that. 387694 GC so far, just to buy one of every item. I have not included Flynn's Booty, the Starlight Redemption Bonus Bundle, the Aria Dannata sale, or the CYOA bundles.

Let me bold that. $3876.94 if you had bought everything on sale. Even if you only bought 5% of the items, you'd still need to spend around $200.

As for the "regular" releases, that comes out to a measely 6532 GC, or 6232 GC if you bought the Aria Dannata on sale, if you bought one bundle per CI and every EI/REI. That's $65.32, if you need a quick conversion. About 5% of that would be only enough to buy you one CI and one MC ( 5% would be 3.26, so I rounded up to $3.50 )

Could someone please explain how someone who makes less than $50k a year is supposed to keep up?

Thank you for doing the math! It's also important to point out that this is on a two month basis. If this continues anually, for a person to purchase everything it would cost over $23000. And even if people only wanted 5% of that stuff, it'd cost $1150 a year. And 5% is a rather low margin for a site like Gaia, xP. You'd hope that people would want to buy more than 5% of releases xP.

I wouldn't be surprised if they bumped the BFS prices from 5000GC for the big items to 10000GC, sweatdrop . Seems like something Gaia would likely do, because as you said, there is no distinguishability between the BFS and similar sales that have came out apart from the occasion.

I actually sort of like having the sales almost every day. It makes me go see what's going on and what's for sale even though I know I can't afford anything.
Also it informs me about a lot of items I didn't even know existed because I'm dumb.

I don't see the problem with flash sales without announcements because aren't they sort of just there? They're non-invasive and if you want to see what's for sale then you have to do the work.

I personally don't really understand what you mean by the daily sales "makes [you] go see what's going on" sweatdrop . In my opinion, the only going-on that the sales show is that there's some holiday or special day they can aggrandize in significance in order to exploit individuals into believing that day has value in substantiating a sale.

And I don't think the sales are meant to inform individuals of old items. New items, yes, though that occurs with all items whether they're in the gold shops, LV, or CV.

Though apart from all of that, I wasn't really addressing any issues with flash sales or their announcements, but rather the large amount of sales in general. They're clearly detracting from the sales of other less expensive items, specifically MCs and CIs AND annoying a large chunk of users at the same time. And if Gaia comes out in the new few months saying their discontinuing CIs, MCs, REIs, or EIs because they aren't gaining enough revenue... emotion_donotwant

Well right now in LV there is two items (one for $75 and one for $20) that I don't remember being there two days ago and also I don't remember being advertised. Seems like any time I go into LV there's some new expensive item that I didn't know was up for sale. Maybe I'm just unobservant.

I don't really think that selling one or two items for a high ticket is going to detract from the sales of less expesive items. Unless the userbase is really taking these sales as a personal attack and are boycotting, most people are still going to buy what they like and what they can afford.

Do you have any evidence that these sales are being detrimental to MC/CI sales numbers? From what I observed this month's MC was a huge hit.

The only way I can see gaia upping the ante is if they plan on selling something of higher value than manslayer/cherubic that got sold for 7500gc, a newer much coveted hyped about item or if they really have gone money-hungry.

While it is nice seeing things on sale...even better if they focus on newer items than recolors and re-releases; I would like it if the sales were done in moderation though.

I've become used to this, and while I absolutely love to see the prices of so many rares go to an affordable rate, I'm no longer feeling that surge of surprise I used to feel when a sale unexpectedly came up. Now, it's more like, "Oh, that's on sale. Okay." -Next day- "Oh, thought that would be in Black Friday. Guess not." Etc, etc. To me it's more the excitement is gone than anything.

And one or two items, no. But look at the massive list in the opening post.

And yes I do have evidence. As I stated in my opening post, you can take a look at the graphs for Starlight Redemption and Return to Valefor. Comparatively speaking, the difference is too drastic to say it's based on anything beyond a lack of ability to purchase them due to all of the other sales.

But that's what they're seemingly trying to do: inflate certain items before they rerelease them at a massive price and try to play it off as worth its value.

I agree.. well. If the sales were MORE spread
out.. (as in not one every week) I would be more inclined to
spend money.

They are selling things that I'd like to own but all being pushed
one on top of the other makes it difficult for me to keep up.
I can safely say that if they spaced these out more; and by
more I mean weeks >3> if not a month, I could actually
make purchases. I'd be getting what I want and Gaia would
sure as hell be getting what they want.

Man, I'm so tired of the sales. I miss when they were few
and far between and they felt special. LIKE A VIRGIN. Wait.
No, but they were special because they weren't the norm. I
liked that. The only lucky thing for me is that unless they
make NEW items and put them in sales, I really have nothing
I'd want enough to warrant me spending $50+ anymore.
XD

There, I jinxed myself now.

Massive list spread out over three months.

Do you mean the marketplace charts? Those charts aren't indicative of all sales, just the sales that are turned around and sold on the MP.

More like 2 months sweatdrop . I don't believe I've included any item that came prior to CV, which was introduced around mid-July.

And those charts are a pretty good indicator of sales overall. Sales on the marketplace are pretty proportional to that of just sales on the marketplace. If the difference was minor, then it may be due to the CI itself or some other purpose but when the difference is so drastic AND the fact that their value on the marketplace is way beyond any other CI in the history of CIs, you have to also factor in the cause of there being lower supplies purchased.
