I am not a Verge member, nor will I ever be but with the direction Gaia Online has been going lately being a former gaian who splurged $30-50 on RIG Bundles for the fun of story and getting possibly cool items....

It's changed.

It feels like all Gaia cares about now is money, money and money. They don't care about what we say and they don't care about what we even try to do at this point, there's a ridiculous amount of gold being pushed out into the economy now and it's too much for any gold sink to handle now. Gold is becoming worthless, especially since after they apparently made Flynn's Booty's odds lower they release this new chest that guarantees you winning a large sum of gold..

They released it once which was.. fine, but they keep constantly re-releasing it and it's almost like this is their plan to create hyper-inflation and then overcharge pixels in Verge and LV.

It's disgusting, but ever since they started doing this crap I stopped buying GC and will continue to never spend GC on this site again.

The site doesn't deserve to die just because they changed their business model and are trying to maintain a profit instead of just breaking even or going months without breaking even.

Actually, that's sort of the price of being a business. If its new business model doesn't work then it dies, in that regard it "deserves" it.

does anybody remember foopets.com? because i left there because they wouldn't listen to their users, and then randomly went, "oh we'll give you fd free on this wheel, nope nevermind, we're taking it off" a week later. when i came back to gaia around that time, i was AMAZED they talked to us. it was.... awesome.

now the only person i see posting here is uncle kenny, who really doesn't know much about what the ceo is doing, or handling. and it's for damage control.

Your mentioning of damage control reminds me of that inappropriate survey that had gone out not too long ago.

I'm still wondering what that survey was surprised I suddenly got the apology announcement but never understood what exactly happened. I got there was some survey with inappropriate content or questions, but inappropriate in what way? It might be my dirty mind but I immediately assumed sexual content

It had a bunch of artwork of catwoman in it taken from different sources without crediting them and there was a body size chart of real people, wherein a normal sized girl was referred to as 'chubby' and a larger girl was called 'whale'. The male chart wasn't much better with all the thin to normal options practically all being the bodies of models and the largest man was called 'fat as fatass'.

It ruffled a lot of feathers and even caused some real harm to people working through eating disorders.

Omygod... That's not even a case of "unfortunate use of words", which I kind of thought it would be. How does stuff like that even end up anywhere near a survey like that? Gaia's supposed to be a workplace, you don't pull crap like this in a workplace. Appearantly they don't even take themselves seriously anymore.

This release of Flynn's Booty was a kick in the face! I was so furious when I read the announcement. I've been pissed for a while, because my precious Agape eludes me! I've had my eye on it since it was under 2 mil. In less then a month it's tripled in price. I have enough to buy one agape at it's ridiculously inflated price. I've been sitting on my gold though and waiting for it to come down. And now it seems it's never going to happen. I just don't know what to do with my gold. emotion_facepalm

I guess I'll just sit on some more and watch it become more and more worthless. stressed

This is exactly what keeps happening with me and anything I want to quest anymore.
I put MONTHS of work into getting enough gold from earning it myself, and then my item doubles.
It's just way too much. I get that they need people to spend money on the site, but why must you do so many gold drops? DX

You know I haven't really commented on any of it... but do you honestly think it will even out? How long have you been here? I've been here for years and I have watched as things have been made worse and worse as they added all the things that require actual money. It was better, for everyone, when items came out here and there instead of all the time. When there where like 4 items that you paid real money for. There were always a couple new items every month. That's what the donation letters were for. The way things are now is just pathetic. It is nothing but greed. They put items up for "sale" that are so expensive that most of us can't even begin to think to afford it. Keeping the site afloat and in the green is one thing. Trying to turn it from what it was supposed to be into a more interactive forum-based facebook is going to kill it. Not us trying to get them to understand that what they are doing.

I know that people are angry about the financial aspect of this. I personally feel that LOYALTY to us is a bigger issue. Maybe that is only my opinion.

I wish the powers that be at Gaia would just take a step back and evaluate everything that is happening AND being said.

WE MATTER. Without our money then what?? Something has to give. I really, really hope it isn't all of the incredible people here.

I've honestly stopped going out of my way to gather gold. I do the puzzles and I chat... everything else seems.... blah. Since I don't have the real money to put into getting everything else. I used to but the donation letters every month but.. it seems pointless now. and omg when did the agape do that? I have been avoiding the MP.

I donate every month as well, I'm trying to keep donor status for zOMG! It's my favorite game on this site. I love doing puzzles as well, but I have stopped doing them because they payout is so little nowadays, 2k is nothing. I've threw a little bit of money at Gaia for the first and only time this past month in all years on Gaia, but no more now. Screw it, everything is unattainable.

I've been watching Agape for a while now. Before Flynn's Booty it was hovering around ~2mil. Currently the LMP for any gen is at least 6mil. Just this past month it has tripled. After the first release of Flynn's Booty(beginning of the month), it had doubled, and now the prices have are increasing past it's tripled price. 1st gen LMP, is 10mil. gonk
It's not just agape though, nearly every single item I have been checking almost every day has tripled in price. And now it's only going to get worse. burning_eyes

Exactly. I have more gold now than I ever had before in all my years on Gaia... Yet I can't buy a single one of my dream items. A few months ago I would have been able to buy them all with the amount of gold I have available now. Now I can't even get one.
