In my opinion, just because the Cross Stitch items are user-designed doesn't mean we get a say on what gets adapted into an item. I've seen plenty of designs that were said popular, fit the criteria of the contest and were original in the Cross Stitch forum yet were turned down. Does anyone remember the item design comp where they let users vote? Even if it was a time consuming process, I thought then at least the designs with the most votes win. But hey, that's just my 2 cents.

I wouldn't be complaining if Gaia had an adequate balance (quality and quantity) of Cash Shop items and Gold Shop items but lately, clearly the Gold Shop has been neglected. I suggest the staff look at the Item Suggestion thread and see what people really want.

Hey ladies, just throwing ideas around, and OP suggested I converse with you two. Would you think it's a good idea, if we tried to set a week aside in October to try and get as many members as possible to boycott GC? We could set it a few weeks from now, and advertise it in our sigs and whatnot. I know it's asking a lot for some people to outright stop buying GC until things change. Well that may not be anytime soon. So let's set aside one specific week, to gather all the members. Users like us can boycott until we see change, but let's reach out to the other members who want to still buy GC, but aren't ready to full out boycott it for what could be months. I'm working on new sig banner/art as I write this. Please let me know what you think. biggrin

Well.. let's see here, I'm not a regular in the CB but I.. wouldn't mind trying to spread the word if this actually works out. The problem is, just like we're trying to gather people to boycott there are those who are doing the exactly opposite just to well.. who knows, some have legit reasons.. others are just trolling, and others are doing it out of spite.

I'm already advertising it in my sig and have been posting more often in the forums I regular, so I mean... if we get enough people to join in on this, I'll consider it.

I remember when they used to do user votes on which items were made.
They had been doing that back before I went on a bit of hiatus.
I was surprised when I came back and they weren't doing them anymore.
I thought that was a really good system. =[

I'll put your other suggestion up on the front page.
If they want to funnel gold out of the system, good items in the cash shop is a perfect chance.

I think they should at least implement some sort of voting system with the Cross Stitch items- either 1. User votes or popularity in the Cross Stitch forum contributes to half the scoring to the item design comp or 2. Sift out the undesirable entries first then place the final entries (like top 10 or 20) into public voting.

Thank you!

I'm not a regular in CB either, but I just think if we can set a concrete blackout time, more people may hop on board, for said time anyway. I know there are a lot of trolls out there, and those that will continue to do it purely out of spite, but we shouldn't concern ourselves with them. I mean, it's not like those are the minds we are going to change. But perhaps we can persuade the ones with legit reasons for buying GC to cease, for one week. I have no problem boycotting GC for a blind amount of time, but regular purchasers wouldn't be so up for it. I just think if we can come up with a set time interval, it may make recruiting easier...

Thoughts?

Do you need me to get you a link or image or something? Or is it just the spacing and stuff?

It's not a bad idea, it really isn't... but you have to keep in mind what I said is going on now... We'd also need at least 10 people for this to even matter given the size and speed of the CB. I'd love to contribute to the cause because I've been a member of Gaia since 2003.... I'd rather it live longer then die next year cause of trying to create large sums of cash in short periods of time.

I'll be in if we can get some other people to join the cause, but like I said above... CB's pretty big still, and the speed posts fly there is pretty ridiculous so it'll take a lot of work, dedication and will.

That wouldn't be a bad idea at all. I like it.
You think we could trust Gaia to sift out the undesirables?
They haven't been doing the best job so far. XP

Ah yeah, story of my life. xD
I am constantly teetering on the border with mine.
Had to take out the link to my charity to fit this thread in.

True. But I would give anything to have some input with the item designs, at least we get a vote and a choice as to what item we want to be in Crosstitch.

Yeah, I'd definitely take a slightly less bad item over a horrible one any day nonetheless.
Plus it's really disappointing when people with popular designs get totally blown off because it's "too much work" or whatever Gaia's excuse is.

Yes, I have a friend who appears to be a regular in CB, so I'll see if she wouldn't mind helping us advertise and whatnot.

I think we have enough people behind us already to set a date. On the petition list we have nearly 200 people who are boycotting GC and also the sister thread, if we could just request them to put something in their sig referring to the boycott, this could really take off. I know I've already seen several users with our banners in their sig...it's spreading decently right now.

I guess what I'm really coming down to is, can you think of a decent week, or few days, that we could choose right now? At least 2 weeks from now. 2 of the banners in OP are mine and I can easily edit them with a date, to replace the current ones there.

Sorry if I'm rambling too much. redface

Her help would probably be good, I'd try asking mine but she's sadly one of the people who is ... enjoying the drama.. rolleyes

We have a lot of people behind us and it's constantly growing, peoples' dis-taste for Neo Gaia's ways is becoming apparent and quite large... Just wish all of us would put the images in our signatures.

Sadly I'd be one of the worst people to setup a time, I'm currently laid off and have basically all the free time in the world I want... so any time I suggest could be bad for say someone who actually still has their job.

It's fine, it really is.
