if gaia does shut down because we protested the way they're handling themselves, then that's just what happens. in the end, it's because we care, obviously, or we wouldn't bother to say something in the first place. they need money, yes, but they do NOT need to destroy the mp in the meantime. it's like they're trapping us into having to use gc because the mp is just so ******** up, there's no chance of ever affording anything.

if they shut down, i'd be sad. but i'd move on and find somewhere else to hang out in the end, and gaia itself would be a standing example of what happens when greed grips a company.

This is exactly how I feel. I would be sad, but it's something they brought on themselves, and maybe it would serve as a lesson to people on what happens when greed becomes your only motivation.

By the way, I would like to be added to the list of supporters -- whoever is doing that.

UPDATE

I have made a few updates to the clarifications on the front page.
I saw a few things when I was going through the pages that I thought I should address.
Also, we have 150 signatures, so keep spreading the word!

Most importantly, though, I want to start seeing more suggestions we can make to Gaia.
It's one thing to sit here and b***h and moan, but we need to take action.
Giving them ideas of things we want to see is the only way Gaia can be for us again, so please, let me know and I'll add them to the front.

I have been on this site since 2006, and took a 3 year break and to come back to this site in the state its in is extremely upsetting.

Idk whether to jump ship or try to stick it out....

So much of the old stuff is dying and it's all being replaced by 90% GC stuff.

The main thing I would like for Gaia to do is make a clear and firm promise that they will never EVER release Flynns Booty items or anything resembling them again. Then, they need to put some serious gold sinks in place and give them time to work. Because it will take a LOT of time and effort to reverse the extreme amount of damage they've already done.

I have other suggestions on the overall direction of the company, because I am not happy with all the cash grabs and other things that have been going on, but the main thing I'm concerned about right now is the economy. They need to make that their #1 to get it under control, and then maybe they can focus on some other issues. The crashing economy, though, is going to bring down this entire site if they don't fix it soon, so that's just critical right now. And I'm not even certain, at this point, that it can be fixed.

A suggestion:

You know, I'm actually perfectly fine with them charging outrageous GC prices for items that aren't that cool IF they also supplement shops with cheap items as well. I'd like to see an influx of cheap/mid-range gold items (10k gg - 200k gg). I think that's a fair level for newer members that don't by GC. But I'd also like to see an influx of cheapo GC items! I'd probably start spending my rl money if $5 would actually do anything on this site. But most of the cool items are $50 rl?! Seriously? I wouldn't even spend that much on games that I play religiously, let alone some new clothes for an avatar that doesn't do anything. Rich folks will go ahead and keep spending on the expensive items, but the rest of us can contribute smaller amounts.

I'd also like to see gold versions of some GC features. Why doesn't the smashbox game have a gold tournament? Is it just me, or is this an obvious gold sink option?

Here's a suggestion: STOP releasing Flynn's Booty/Chest/other Flynn body parts. Seriously. When it first came out it was cool. I bought my fair share of them. But I honestly thought it would be a one time deal, or maybe once a year or something. That would have been reasonable. But the constant rereleases are just insane! At this rate they might as well just make it a permanent thing, it's been released and rereleased so much. Obviously it isn't the only problem but it is a big contributing factor.

more gold sinks gaia. waaaaay way more gold sinks. we need so many goldsinks now to deflate the mp that it could take a year or more to fix, if not way longer. i honestly can't tell what the supply and demand would be in the future if were to stop flynn's booty in order for it to go back to normal, but i imagine not for a long ******** time. let's get that on the move now.

also to from love to pain - for the front page to keep things organized, i'd have a spoiler for all the things we're saying inside the thread regarding gaia, and a second spoiler for our active suggestions. keeps thing's neat and orderly, and also gives the browsing folks a quick glance through what's already been said. you could quote some of our suggestions underneath that spoiler then!

I totally agree about the Smashblocks thing.
If these games are pumping 25 mil into the system to ONE winner, why isn't there a gold buy in?

I didn't except this thing to get so big so I had zero organization in mind when I made it. xD
