Well, you're saying no to inflation and excessive GC, but I wonder how many of you have sold something off for a few million(using inflation) and bought something that cost ungodly amounts of GC.

I have, but the point is, it was stuff I have had since 06'. I haven't bought cash in... gods a good year now. I made hard sacrifices, and chose a few things I have always wanted that were released (my wings, and a pirate leg mod) over items that I valued but not as much as I value piracy and devil wings. I regret a few of those sells, and if Gaia earns back my buisness you bet I am gonna sink some of my money into buying back what I sold. I miss my knight outfit.

And the items I did get, were what I deemed reasonable prices in the cash shop. I have passed on non reasonably priced items, poor recolors, or things I found stupid. If I wasn't withholding money because of Gaia's poor ethics, I would have dropped legit cash on the items I bought with the gold I made from selling beloved items.

Thing is, I probably would have done that in Perfect Land, where Gaia wasn't super shady anymore, sold off a few items on the MP, to buy and item, or drop cash to buy it outright what I have now. When I do use the MP, I sell under ABP, and aggressively undercut to the point of severe loss. Honestly, I don't care, I would prefer to drive down the ABP than profit.

The people in charge are either willfully blind or don't give a damn. Regardless of which one is closer to the truth, they still make enough money to ignore users or seemingly mock us with promises of change they don't keep.

So I say we go past them.

What if we started submitting article and story suggestions to news outlets, telling them how bad things have gotten? We can tell them that old users are bailing out, new users are giving up, we literally have one person who all information is given through, and even the employees of the site are appalled at the current direction*. I know a few people have mentioned that reselling MC items in the cash shop may actually be illegal, since Gaia has always--and still does--advertise that they are sold only for a limited time.

Use that. Use everything we can possibly remember that will make people stop and take notice. MAKE the people in charge notice. Force them to answer to the outside world.

I haven't bought cash items with gc or with gold off the MP since the gold gens came out. I just can't afford it, and Gaia doesn't want the commoner's money, anyway, or to be shown support toward GC anything, not when they're pulling this kind of BS.

Gaia has let us down. Really, let us down. The community is not what it used to be, not to mention they let their baby zOMG sink. I remember when the announcements would come from all areas of gaia, not just the cash shop. There would be community events, and stories that would go on for months. and they used to let us know what was going on every step of the way. I'm very disappointed in what I have returned to, and I will not be spending any hard earned money here until they can get their act together. I would like to hear from the management, letting us know what's going on, a simple apology and how they plan to fix it. That is why I am signing today and showing my support for this thread.

I've been back on Gaia for about three months, and this economic situation has made it so hard to get back "in" to Gaia.

I had an idea about supporting the gold shops, that encouraged people to use the gold shops more. I thought some Gold Shop Fashion shows would be pretty fun but nobody was really interested.

i hate to say it but ur right... i actualy spent cash here long ago when gaian didn't have this crappy inflasion, but my god when i notice my wish list prices are off the roof i almost died on the number of zeros x.x i do say make it more gold sink as like Dernier Cri as a super gold sink... one thing i will say as a old memeber that i would have never know to realised that that one day i would actualy saved up for those items came true by selling just a few "items"

sadly enough i came to this subforum specifically to find a thread like this, as i knew it had to exist

ive been a member of gaia online since before it was CALLED gaia online (it was go-gaia when i first joined up), and i can remember when monthly collectible items were so exciting! it was something i looked forward to, and though i was young at the time and could rarely afford to donate, i would sometimes beg and plead my parents for an item when it was really special that month, or i would carefully save up gaia gold to buy an item off the marketplace. of course, back then, even really nice items typically would be around 30k at most, with the rarest items at i believe 1 mil MAX. and that was practically unheard of and very daunting at the time, considering the only real source of gold income was from posting if you didn't have money to spend on MCs. even then it was a real serious amount if those MCs would only sell for about 20-30k each!

i stuck with gaia for years until finally drifting a bit, but i'd always poke back in to see how things were progressing or to participate in fun-looking community events. the problem is that in all those years the site has seemed to not only stagnate, but actually become WORSE. those fun community events that i remember have disappeared, so far as i can tell, and are replaced by meaningless gold sink events such as the current one. the forums no longer feel like fun and welcoming places to frequent, and with no community events to ease new players into the fray i'm sure it's even worse for those considering joining up without any history on gaia. every day i am barraged by obnoxious cash shop ads, at least 1 per hour, and i have no way to disable these alerts so i tend to not even bother reading the news alerts anymore. the economy has tanked due to the cash shop, so when i went to see how much some old items i had were worth and how much it'd cost to put together a new simple avatar, my jaw nearly dropped when i saw all the prices in the multi-millions and billions. i wish i could say that i'm surprised the site fell so far, but honestly this has happened on so many sites i used to frequent... neopets, subeta, the list goes on, yet i think of all of them gaia is the worst. the cash shop elements are entirely out of control and the site has seen no measurable improvement or adjustment for all the cash they must be raking in.

in short, i have no interest in spending ANY money on this site anymore. where once it felt like a site worth supporting, since it was a fun place to frequent and the cash shop ads weren't shoved down my throat every five seconds, it now feels like the site exists solely to generate more cash for the site devs and they clearly think of gaia players as little more than walking dollar signs. anyone who does not spend cash on the site must limp along with meager gold rewards from posting and daily freebies, which still is not enough to bring the vast majority of the site's items into reach. if not for the older items that i had hoarded on this account from back when i was more active, i would have had no chance at all at buying the components for my current avatar, so i shudder to think what the experience must be like for a new player.

Oh finally! Something we don't ******** need or didn't ask for whatsoever. A god damned GCash tab to remind us ONCE AGAIN that Gaia is pushing our buttons.

I'm seriously signing this again, no, put me down 250 times because Gaia seriously doesn't visit the "site feedback" as much as they need to where EVERYONE is telling them that the GCash idea is a load of horse s**t and none of us like it. Because, hey, if we haven't forced our users enough to look at 20 announcements every day about the same thing, why not fill the empty space next to our avatars with GCash announcements AND make a new GCash tab!

I keep clicking the new GCash tab everytime I check for new roleplay posts. Everytime I make that mistake I think I die a little inside.

Why do you hurt us in this way Gaia? Do you like to watch us suffer while you listen to the sound of your money counters? Do you like the way we squirm at another announcement about things we cant possibly afford nor would we want to buy even if we could. Do you enjoy feeding off the little rich kids as their parents shell out thousands and thousands every month for you?

Why do you do this to us, Do you not longer care?

I love this thread, and seeing all the people here and on other ones who are so against the direction gaia has been going. Though I think it's clear....this site is not getting better. There is no redemption, it's honestly lost. I don't even come on gaia anymore, I simply come back and check to see how much more the site had plummeted into it's money pit.

Though for real guys....to think this site is savable at this point....seems hopeless to me. Sucks that it has gone down this path. Well at least we got to enjoy it when it was good :'D
