I'm a 03 Member, with a current 05 Avatar, lost username and password long time ago lol
But I remember when gaiaonline was actually about the forums, the community, the story-line that for the likes of my knowledge has disappeared completely? An the roleplaying. I've been here a while and I still believe that I will continue to stay for a while longer. Even though gaia constantly floods my account with announcements every five to ten minutes about how much gold I could be making if I paid them 5, 20, 25, 50, 100 dollars?!?! You mean real money for 'fake items' something I can't really own, oh yes please take my money.....=_=
I'll get back to the announcement thing later, but for now I'm just being drowned in nostalgia from the memories about how FREE gaia used to be. There weren't ads everywhere, little things like 'once a day chances' were cool, with promises of Luxury Items that may be hidden or randomly won. I even remember when getting a 'Enchanted Chest' chest was a big deal, I could have gotten something worth Millions I would have settled for something that was at least worth 100k. Cause that used to be a lot of gold in comparison to the what? 20g you get from making a post? Voting on poll topics, etc. But with recent additions to gaia like Flynn's Booty, which by the way I believe was promised to be a ONE TIME ONLY event. Re-colors of 03/04/05 items those elusive rare starter items such as Horns of the Demon, Devil Tail, Angelic Scarf, Steel Plated Ninja Headband, and Angelic Halo just to name a few. Now I see people who have been here in a shorter amount of time wearing these items, some of which I don't even have.
I'm not complaining about them having it, I just always thought those items were special and something to work for, or hell even get randomly; I didn't know gaia would one day ask me for roughly 100$ to get the item for a short and limited period of time, yeah really special now aren't they.
Speaking of special items, in my opinion the Monthly Collectibles have really lost their luster, even for the mere 2.50$ they cost? That's what they were when I bought a couple, don't know if that changed. I used to think that Evolving Items had taken their place and gaia had forgotten about the MC's, but in this case I was wrong, now even Gaia has forgotten about it's precious Evolving Items and now everything is 'Limited Time Only', 'Limited Quanity', 'Advanced Chance' etc. I could keep going on and on, but really gaia?
The Announcements, while I understand are very necessary to some degree, I don't want to be getting them every 5 to 10 minutes just because you guys are releasing Flynn's Booty for the millionth time, or updating the dice roll to a D20, or whatever it is they are. If I remember correctly it was a while back when the Gaia Guilds (something else Gaia puts no attention too anymore) made a limit to the Guild Announcements one per day. Because people complained about being flooded with Announcements...hmmmm sounds familiar enough? Why not the same for you Gaia, limit yourself to One a Day like the guilds, then maybe I wouldn't be so ticked about this. Or even give us the option to 'Fliter' what types of Announcements we receive so that way again I'm not flooded every 5 to 10 mins with new/same ads about gaia gold, chance items, Flynn's booty.
Well if anyone does read this maybe you think I'm just being salty about the whole thing. But I do really miss what gaia used to be about. The community, not how much money they can make off a quick color swap of a 03 item.
Maybe one day it'll all go back to that, or maybe Gaia will eventually crash and burn. Sad fact is, I'm more than Likely willing to ride it straight into the ground when it happens. I could go on and on about my complaints that I'm sure some people share, but I'll leave it at that, my two cents.
