I have been here since September 28, 2005.After a friend in middle school told me about this site.And since I got a computer recently,I was able to check it out.
I have had the same username the whole time.I made friends,learned how to Roleplay and several other things that I hold dear to my heart.This place was a creative outlook for me and is still my favorite place on the internet.
Gaia has been with me threw very terrible incidents in my life.One being my step-mother committing suicide three days before my birthday.
I was very close to her and had emotional trauma to this day about that night.But I had Gaia to help me cope.With my friends,the cool community stories and announcements,monthly collectibles that were five dollars.Gaia has always been my internet home and a place to clear my head when I'm upset.
I grew closer to this site after the fact she was gone,it felt like my friends online really cared for me which made me even closer to this site.

To know that this site might be shut down in two years really upsets me and sickens me.I was hoping to be on Gaia for years to come.Once this is gone,I have no where else to go.So many memories where made here with the staff and community.
No other site was like Gaia,and now it's considered the worst fantasy site.Can you blame it?
Watching Gaia spiral down still hurts.Its like a childhood friend I grew up with and learned with.
Now it's a selfish money hungry company that I will no longer buy with real cash ever again.
150$ for a virtual item? A FAKE item! I can buy several real outfits,shoes maybe some real video games with that money.No way is it going to that.

I'm tried of this cold shoulder thing.No more gold shops,everyone wants the shinny 100$ item.
Get some gold sinks, allow special item sales every few days,one that are not expensive.
I feel bombarded with the constant cash shop updates and club verge is just a ploy to make more money.

It breaks my heart to see this happening to this site that had such great poetical.Im probably stupid for doing this,but I'll stay with Gaia to the end.It was my first official web site to check out,I can't part with it now.

I didn't when I signed up years ago and I won't now. They spend millions and still have the "we don't know how" excuse every time they mess up and we ask to have it fixed.

My thread will be short lived. So here is my testimony.

I feel like it's severely rare to go a day on here without some new cash item or sale. Or random adverts I don't half pay attention to. I mean is anyone over there even trying? Like marketing I get it. You can make some dunce pay hundreds of dollars for a golden ring and tons of gold fake as a monopoly bankroll. But I remember when you tempted me. The intelligent consumer. Things that took time. Storys tied to them. Festivals and ball's that were FUN and had rewards you wanted. Not something the art team pooped out half asleep as filler festive bull.

Leave me guessing when and what is coming next! Throw a curve-ball or two. Be innovative. And if all else fails you can do what you like to fall back to! OUR submitted item idea's. Genius. I mean at least then I felt like reading even half of the announcements. And thoroughly. But I digress. I am overwhelmed with this feeling of abandonment. I think it is fair to say this site has had a strong fix on many lives. Lives lived partially through this site. As an outlet that cared how you felt about it. These new owners don't care about the user anymore. And it's making us not care back. A sad feeling.

Especially because Gaia is the closest thing to a time capsule I will ever have. Why take the meaning and joy from us devoted Gaians? We know you are making enough money for at least the effort. So give it to us and we'll be content.

More so then with this outrage of a money laundering circus you call a social site.

I have been on Gaia since about 2004, this site mentioned to me by one of my friends. There is many of the old stuff that I miss, like the quests that they had you do to get to know the site, and the item shop where you could buy real things for you to own. Like buttons with your avi on them, hats, shirts, etc. The cute holiday events that didn't require you to team up with people in order to get something done. And some of the old avi features, like the mouths. There was this one that I used for my avi all the time that was better than half of what we have now. But it was taken away.

I've been on here for years, had due to this that or the other had made other accounts. But during all this time I have not spent one, not one penny on this site. So I have never, and I do not plan to in the future, spend any of my hard earned money on this place.

I understand that they have people that they need to pay and all that but what was wrong with the old system? Back when we didn't have to spend real money to get the good stuff, just vote, post, and all that like crazy to buy from the shops or market. Yes prices were high before, but now with these cash items things have only gotten worse. Why can they not see that?

Seems like there's an endless stream of cash shop items and gold generator releases. Is Gaia going to be pushing the cash shop this hard for the rest of the year? It's becoming increasingly clear that non-paying members of the site are less valued. They don't care that gold generators are ruining the economy by driving inflation through the roof. It's all about the $$$ now.
