Just a reminder:
This thread is for Gaians to voice why they are sick of the GC pushes and the flynnflation and all the problems that come with both.

Ads are necessary for the business to be funded. Especially if they stop pushing GC they will be relying on ads to bring in revenue. You may not like the popups but your post is not relevant to this thread. Advertise your petition somewhere else. (Am I the only one who appreciates the irony here?)

It isn't for all ads just pop-up ones that Gaia uses for advertising flash sales and all that GC stuff. This is something many people have had problem with. Ads are fine, the pop-ups ones that show up in My Gaia for flash sales aren't.

Ads our a very important part of gaia, and all websites. I would never ask for them to stop using ads. It is business and is needed to run this site. The only ads I have a problem with as do may Gaians is Gaia pop-ups that adblocker's can not block. That link is as said above only for the one ad type. I can see ads on all websites, but Gaia is the only one that pop-ups and it is very annoying. I have however not said anything more on here about this because I did not wish to spam this thread. I did e-mail the forum owner after I posted that link. Letting her know it was there and asking if she put it on the front page. If she cares to delete it, that is also her choose. I have no intent on posting the link again

We are not asking the site to get rid of GC. I can't speak for everyone in the thread, but if I sport an anti-GC image in my sig, it means I am not pulling money out of my own pocket, and they will not receive any of my money until I see changes.

Maybe some users do want to get rid of GC all together, but that is not the point of this thread. Hope that clears up any misunderstandings. 3nodding

They need money to stay afloat, but why support a site financially that is constantly neglecting updates and features or one that is using the money you spend to destroy parts of the site? It's not a good trade-off.

As I said to another person who used the "Well it must be ok if people buy it" card for Flynn's booty.

People drink laxatives like water, not knowing what it will do to them with the thought of "Hey I'll lose weight faster if I do this".

In retrospect, buying Flynn's garbage is very similar. While it doesn't hurt the body of a user, it does hurt the body of Gaia as a whole. Flynn's booty/chest hasn't only hurt the marketplace, it's had a community-wide impact of negativity and distrust.

Gaia's marketing team preys on that ignorance in order to gain a profit. Want an example of that, look at the COO's little picture in his gamification seminar. It has a picture of Flynn on one of the slides, with a clever little slide about Dopamine.

This is such an old argument. It condones the actions of the site of desperately pushing its gold generators on a weekly (and sometimes less than weekly) basis by blaming the users for buying into it. I can't really put it on the user's shoulders for being tempted by "get rich quick" schemes. Isn't the real concern that the site is releasing it at all? We don't know the numbers they're getting, but it's quite possible that their recent methods of pushing it would assume the consequences of us not buying into it (taking the Verge-exclusive chest and releasing it as a bundle in the La Victoire).

People have always put money toward the site and yet there was never an obvious amount of favor toward those that did so. Why the sudden change now? Again, that's something that would be on behalf of the site's new practices and not something we have specifically done.
