It's like they are punishing us. Making us "buy" GC to there expensive so we get the better items. Well, i'm sick of it. I've been the odd one out for quite some time, most of m friends on gaia have heaps of GC items, but i think they at least should be for gold!

And the prices in GC. Seriously. almost 450 GC for a good item. How much is that in real life money?! who would want to spend there money on virtual items?! The only thing i like about this game money wise is that you don't need to buy a member ship.

And can we sign this??? if so signed.
-Chocolate-Blush
Actually, 450 GC is really only $4.50. sweatdrop

oh... >.< well, who want's to spend four bucks on GC when they can buy food to live for under 4$? lol.
$4 really isn't asking a lot for a site that has provided some people with friends and a whole community where they feel like they belong.
A lot of people here don't have those things in real life, so Gaia gives that to them. So $4? Yes, I would spend that.

The issue is the items they're charging $50-$1,000 for.
How can you justify charging someone that much for ONE, VIRTUAL item?
The fact a few people are actually willing to spend and buy has just let them think it's okay.
What do they care as long as a few people are putting out, right?

oh gosh. Well, i would much rather buy them from the market place for GG than in the shops for GC... lol...
Unfortunately, with almost all items these days, someone has to spend the GC to put it in the MP for you to do that. xD

I just came from browsing the GCD and saw an interesting suggestion about having a say no to GC guild. I'm just wondering if there is one already though?
There is no guild and I will not be making one.

Feel free to look into joining Revolution: Gaia, though. They're a guild with a similar cause.

I was talking to my friend yesterday and she says that her and some other of her friends say that it's unlikely that Gaia will last more than six months.
Incase the gaia-apocolypse happens is there any rpers here? Ya'll know of any other forums where people can rp?
I've joined Ernya. They seem to have a pretty involved RPing community, though they're much smaller than Gaia.

I resign my signature

I may dislike the very disturbing gaia cash prices for certain items, for I do feel it is abused, I must sadly support whatever they need to do to keep the site running and growing.

Quite a few years ago, horns and other items were 10k at most, they inflated just like things inflated now. Yes Items are ridiculously high on the market, but the brand new items flowing in are fairly priced (sure they may be grabbed up and rise in price later, but at their release dates they are affordable). An example would be Optical Illusion.

Anyways what makes gaia for me is the forums and art, and I don't want to lose those. I'm happy with the items I have, and if newcomers and old users want to pay out the a** for items...well then good for them, cause they're doing it, and they always will. You've got the crazy market place people and hoarders, so in all, all this is really inevitable.

I suggest, continue asking for more reasonable solutions, avoid gaia cash [ I know I still will] and maybe they'll fix things a bit more. I do think gaia is actually trying at the moment, but they need to try a little harder. The market items are what they are now, new items will take their old places and prices. It is a new generation, just like the first generation ,this generation inflated as well before welcoming the new one.
So...you don't want your signature on anymore?
You do realize we're not boycotting GC for forever, right? Just until Gaia changes its mind and listens to its users.

the only thing I do not aggree with is the large quantities of premium items being bannable, I spent long hours flamingo farming to get most of my crap and I like my crap sad
This is a copy and pasted response I gave to two other guys who were angry about this suggestion.

Quote:
Let me explain this idea to you guys, and also keep in mind that all suggestions are put on the front page. This is not a list of demands, just ideas.

We're talking items that are premiums, like MCs and EIs, not all items.
And by large quantities, we're talking owning like 20+ of an item.
I don't know about you guys, but I see no reason to hoard a lot more of an item than there are even poses on it you can wear.

Gaia does not intend you to hoard items for a profit.
It does intend you to quest these items and keep them as a point of pride.
There's a difference between wanting items for yourself and just hoarding them to manipulate the market later.

Ive been on this site 9 years.

I started in the middle of middle school, a kid with a cool new site to play on with people that shared similar interests. I was spawned into the Online world wearing nothing but a jade peasant dress, and i spent months saving each piece of gold i had to buy myself the "Autumn Leaf Kimono" from the old shops.

18k.

That was a lot of gold back then.
Hours and hours of time posting and browsing, talking and chatting to make myself "look cool".
I made friends, I learned how to RP, I made memories that me and my friends still talk about as if we were an actual part of something. Gaia was a second home.

They introduced a "Shop" where you could by real items for yourself. I own a catscratch hat, I remember wanting a Sqwee the dragon plushie, and a REAL coco kitty plush. They had Gaia Keychains and fun items you could buy for YOURSELF to show how much you loved the site.

When the cash shop was introduced, prices were cheap, and they were exclusive items. I loved the Fallen wish, and my friend and I pooled $5 each to buy a $10 card to buy one. They were cool, the evolving items.

And then they kept going.

And going.

And going.

Then they recolored the old items they had already made and charged real money for them.

rise.
repeat.
rinse.
repeat.

The site once said they would never ever ask for our money. Everything you gave to them was optional. Now its slowly but surely drifting into the "If you want anything, you need to give us a credit card" catagory.

It just hurts Gaia. It really does. Most of us have been here for years, youve had plenty of cash come in with the Donation Items, the Monthly collectables... which you dont even do anymore.

Even facebook hasnt gotten this bad. And Facebook is awful.
And Facebook definitely employs more people and supports more users than Gaia. rofl

To those saying gaia doesn't need the money:

Actually with the rise in prices and all these schemes, I don't think gaia can afford to make too many changes. Honestly for a site to dig this deeply into its user's pockets...It looks extremely desperate. Desperate enough that I would assume all other virtual currency sites would laugh their asses off at Gaia's money system and prices.

Because I mean who would really pay over hundred dollars of a virtual pixel panda hat that has shitty pixel detail? Plus its just one pathetic little item, not even anything truly 'real'. But gaia seems to think this is reasonable? For what reason? The only innocent answer is that they are extremely low on funds (However this is still corrupt. They shouldn't use these tactics to get more money. They should just be honest and introduced all of this as a charity support).

Any other answer is just plain corrupt. I really do hope they actually need all this money they're making and that they're putting it to good use.

Then maybe when they're back on their feet and heading in the right direction once again, everything will tone down.
Here are some facts for you.

Gaia made an announcement 10/16 saying that indeed, over the summer, they had been hurting financially.
However, in that same announcement, they said Gaia was doing much better thanks to Flynn us.
Currently, they are definitely not hurting for money. They have told us this flat out.

You may also like to know that Gaia has been spending a majority of its time and effort on launching this sister site.
I assume all this money-grabbing is to fund the launch of said site since they couldn't do it with the same budget Gaia currently runs on.
Unfortunately, it is popular opinion that this site is a sham and no one really wants it except Gaia itself.

And I'm sure you're aware that these items Gaia is charging $100+ for are appearing in the MP, so someone must be buying them to put them there. As long as that continues, why not keep selling things at that rate? It works, right?

Probably because someone pointed out that it was false advertisement... meaning they plan to keep releasing it in the future.

I'm really growing tired of fighting and about to join the side that just wants to see the Gaia world burn.
I hate to say it, but me too...

Maybe I'm slow, but this just hit me: is there a possibility that GC finally went to sale due to people protesting it? That seems a bit unlikely compared to them just trying to wring more money out of people or trying to justify the Halloween sale, but it's still food for thought.
It coincided with a very large sale of extremely desired items. I assume that's what it's going with, though it's nice to think it's all our fault. emotion_awesome

do you think gaia is even going to listen? I'm signing regardless but the way things are going, I'm thinking this whole sub forum will be taken down.
They already cancelled ATA almost a month ago with not even a hint at what will be replacing it. -cough-NOTHING-cough-
I wouldn't be surprised if they said ******** it to this whole sub-forum too.

Exqueeze me? stare I'll collect and keep as many items as I want.

What? You can be banned for what Gaia pretty much intends on you doing?

And yeah. When I get an item worth 100k+ (heck, even 50k+) I'll be darn well keeping it for a good long time.

Once you pay gold or GC for an item it belongs to you and no one else should decide how and when you should be able to buy or sell your property. That's straight up socialist bullshit.

Then people will just start sending angry letters to Gaia HQ. emotion_awesome
They can't hide from us no matter how hard they try.

why aren't people sending letters now? or spamming their emails? or do i just not know about that?

If you guys would like to send something yourselves, Gaia's email and mailing address are on the front page of this thread.
