UPDATE
Sorry I haven't been on, but thanks for all of you who have kept up with the thread and helped out.
I'm actually looking for some people to monitor the thread for me since I no longer have internet at home and literally can only get on at work now.
If anyone who reads this is interested, or know someone you see here a lot who might be, let me know.
I'd also appreciate someone who could keep up with the signatures on the petition thread on my days off as well.

In other news, we've broken the 600 signatures mark!
When it reaches 1,000, I will find some way to submit the entire list along with a letter from myself.
If you guys can think of anything else we could be doing in the meantime, let me know!

Other than that, please keep the suggestions coming.
We have a lot of things on the front page so far, but more is always better.

PS: I will be redoing the front page later tonight so this thread is not moved from the SF.

And growing. emotion_awesome

I'm not sure if you would be someone to talk to, but another mod had come in here saying the front page didn't follow SF rules.
Could you let whoever know that I will be moving the front page around later tonight so it complies?
I can only get on at work so the time I have to do all that rework might take a while. >_>

"— Start clearing out the perma-banned and other dead accounts that Gaia knows for sure will never be used again. It will save space and money (we assume)."

They have expressed multiple times that with their current system this is not possible. It would break their system to remove any accounts.
Well they seem pretty okay with changing everything else. rolleyes
everything else? They have changed very little of the main functionalities of this site. i really think you don't understand what a big task it is. Hundreds of hours of work for very very little benefit to the system, and almost no benefit to the users. Not only that but you could guarantee such a large change would introduce numerous bugs, which in turn would require hundreds of hours of work. Would you rather they waste their time doing that instead of working on something like a new invo arranger, which would take far less hours, introduce minimal issues, and benefit every user?

If this system is out of date and clogs up money for Gaia, I don't think it could hurt.
Even if it wouldn't have an impact on us per-say, anything that helps free up space for Gaia to put new things in is a plus in my book. Apparently other sites have made the transfer with great success, or so I've heard from some of the others in here.

I know it would take a lot of time and work, but if they had a system for old accounts it would also put a lot of people's minds at ease about what happens with the items and gold on banned/dead accounts. Right now there are a lot of conspiracies about what happens with them, and they're not very good.

Granted, conspiracies are conspiracies, but what if Gaia really is taking items off banned accounts and things like that? We don't know what really goes on. I would rather them take the time to upgrade so I know EXACTLY what is being done with old accounts and not leave it as an open question Gaia never really has to answer.

That said, though, it's definitely not my favorite suggestion.
Like I've said before, almost all the suggestions anyone has posted in here are up there.
Obviously some are much better than others, and your concerns about this particular have already been shared by posters before you
Right now we just need to brainstorm to get as many discussions going as possible about this.

That's not really a conspiracy... It is a known fact that they sometimes remove items sometimes from old banned accounts. Where do you think those angelic halos for raffles came from? If you are going to make a feedback thread like this, you really should keep up with stuff like AtA. I am not current with the goings on and even I know that.

I have no idea how you can claim that their system is out of date. Are you or have you been a programmer for Gaia? You can't say something like that without seeing the code. Front-end wise, it is not out of date and in fact has more functionality than most forum-based sites. They didn't bother to have a function to remove accounts, and while you may find this an inconvenience, I am sure people who log on only once a year or go on even longer hiatuses would beg to differ.

Show me where they said they took halos off accounts?
I'll admit, I never post in the SF and I only went to my first ATA a couple weeks ago.
I didn't expect this thread to get as big as it is, but I'm trying to learn as best I can for the people who have grown to like it.

I mean, it IS just a website. They could've just made more pixel items. There's no limit to how many of any item they can make.

They generate Halos (and other items) rather than taking them from banned accounts. This has been asked multiple times, with regards to the old bidding system, and Flynn's Plunder, and prizes for Gaia contests. Every time, they've stated that they generate new items for the events, not taking items for other accounts.

That's what I always thought, which is why I was confused that Gaia admitted to taking these items and I hadn't heard about it.

This... This right here was the last straw. I'm not buying anything from someone who compares me, or any of their users for that matter, to addicted lab rats.

What's worse is that is clearly a presentation by the COO with the intent to teach OTHERS to treat their users in this manner.
I must've missed it in the days I wasn't online and now the link isn't working. =[
What was it?

Did anyone make a copy of that while it was up?

Not from what I've seen.
So far people have only been able to explain what it was to me.

Let me know if you find one?

I think there are copies on this page.

My feedback on those: I think it's wrong to encourage addictive behaviors. There's something unethical about it.

i don't know what they do nowadays cause idgaf but about 4 yrs ago when i did care they did remove them from old accounts, and one of the artists stated it was not possible for them to just create another of an old item. It is entirely possible that after 4 years they have found a work-around in the code that allows them to create new items, and considering how they did a mini re-release of A. Halo, i am not surprised. ty for the information, as I was not aware that they were doing it like that nowadays.

But calling it a conspiracy? Who would do that? lol
