What do you mean "spending a few hundred bucks in GC"? As in, if someone was questing? Or on a monthly basis? Because, I don't know, that sounds like a site full of unattainable items. People wouldn't really try if everything was uber-expensive. I mean, as a new member, you just get up an leave. Like when you enter a store of really cool things but you realize, they're too expensive.
(That's what I mean by saying this will work short-term only.)

But I do agree this is the beginning of "pay for play" even if they don't call it that. The other thing that I just realized and, again this may have been fully established, is that perhaps part of the strategy is to flush out users who are not willing to spend: by excluding them and making items practically unaffordable. I mean, in this event, if you don't donate you'll not get the collective item. And for people who are broke because of the inflation, that hardly seems fair.

The average item price in Verge is 5k GC so $50 per item and bundles are 30-55k GC.

I just wanted to drop by and offer a bit of solidarity.

I joined in early '04 when the only 'premium' items were the DONATION Letters, "Donation" because the site was still "not for profit".

I've come down many levels in Socio-Economic Status since then. My permanent disability and all the associated drama keeping me from working part time and now the state is trying to squeeze 3,000 dollars from me because they still gave my 85 lb self FOOD STAMPS after I started receiving LESS money from permanent disability.

Like I can drop 50 dollars on a VIRTUAL ITEM? Five Bucks maybe once every other year was about as much as I could afford in the past -_-;

I'd even be so bold and claim that right now it would be cheaper for people to buy re-releases with GC than risking failing with flynn, seeing that it's a rig and that you'd only make ~1mil if you have bad luck.

Though I can't be bothered doing the maths for it right now, so don't take my word for it. I'm just applying common sense right now, not maths.

On-topic, I think the inflation is bad for Gaia, even short term. Yeah it works to increase Gaia's visitor-purchase ratio because everybody who can't or won't purchase anything will simply leave, but those are some of the coolest people to hang out with. Hint: I'm one of those people. wink

So it begins, the dawn of reality faced with a problematic issue on a virtual website, the same economic harm going in reality in a different manner. Those who've been upon gaia long enough know the truth about how they feel and can easily pull up more opinions, information, truths, and lies of gaia. Those who just started are simply started to examine a different kind of atmosphere that, in truth, will never understand. We, who have been year since the dawn of gaia. Even, before the first evolution item know of what Gaiaonline had to offer.

Oh yes, a community, a section of fun and entertainment that we can mindlessly harvest our gold from the time of our hour glasses, investing even with what cash we had when we felt like for higher advantage of our desire. Those who have, used such for art work, role play, creativity, to give an impression, release their inner persona, so many examples and reasons as to why, what they were doing here, and how they became to this place.

Now, that is all over, a new evolution of gaia has erupted from the depths of the unknown. Hunger has turned in to starvation and that which originally was simply a thank you of appreciation for such thoughtful generous minds, has turned in to a high demand, near making target business of goals. Mathematically put, originally was not needed.

Since time passed, we have seen games come and go, shops open and leave, characters unleash and fallen. The harmony of Gaia has always been one that was a shaky ride, a rollar coaster unknowing of its end.

Can we say this is the end of gaia? Who knows, this is indeed the first massive outrage of such dramatic nature and action as humanity we are. Though, it is certainly one of wishful thinking. A group of people stricken in the heart, suddenly turned in to savage wild beast. People who have not a care, simple amusement like they have always been striking down on the optimistic point of view with pessimistic sense of humor and smart statements. People who are in the middle, simple confusion or with out care, joining either side with out a reason as to why.

Yes, this is a new dawn my fellow community. My friends and enemies, allies and aggressive individuals, as well acquaintances. Who knows now where Gaia shall go, but, I'll tell you this as one who has always been true of his expressive thoughts when it has ever came to the forums despite how heated the topic have gotten.

I too, am part of this and I, will remain till the end of this website. It is nothing but simply, one of entertainment always to enjoy something in life when we, didn't have much to enjoy or what ever the reason may be for your place in this virtual website.

As for those who just want to watch things burn, that time will come later. Make no mistake though, fire it self burns regardless. No matter how childish things may seem to one perspective of mind. The most logical one's can sense and known as well react.

I leave this post for those of many, eyes all open and response shall become. Stab it, quote it, acknowledge it, evolve it, dissemble it, what ever may be the case.

Personally, I must say I'm very disappointed with Gaia...
When I joined it used to be a nice site where things were actually reasonable.
Now it's almost like only rich people can join because the newcomers are gonna be doomed to be "itemless" until the end of time that they frequent this site.
People aren't swimming in money and they're sucking everything out of us with advertising... why should we spend real money on this so much if they're only gonna suck out more and not even thank us properly? I see this as robbery and they're being greedy, and honestly, it's not even a free site anymore in my opinion...
Everything is starting to be based in real cash and nothing else... if you're rich, you win, if you're not, too bad. That's how Gaia community is thinking lately and I utterly hate it and think it's outrageous...

This needs to be stopped, because it's truly ridiculous. I just wish things could return to what they used to be...
Also, one more thing, if this continues, they're gonna start losing a LOT of people... I wouldn't be surprised if Gaia went down the drain for lack of 'customers' at this rate.

If its priced like dernier cri and they let it die quickly like most of their stuff, I wouldn't be surprised.

Honestly if I had the gold, and if there were more interesting things and if there were things released more often in Dernier*Cri, I would and I'm sure other people would spend more gold in there. There's probably only 4 or 5 items I like in that store. It's a worthy goldsink, but it doesn't work because there's just not enough of a variety of things that people would want to spend their gold on. While I've yet to even save up enough gold to buy anything from that store, but nonetheless, they just need more/better things in there.

Hell, some items with as many poses as their gaia cash stuff would be nice.

Not even just cash items in general - Have you noticed that items have less and less poses these days? More stuff like Death Whisper or Masquerade or the slightly more recent Secret Retreat, or Gogh Reed, Seracila Pendant, Infernal Spirit, Compass of Seidh, Nano-C... the list goes on, but there should be more items with multiple poses, those are the items that have a reason to be high-priced because they have so many poses. Yet more and more, items only have three to 5 or maybe 10 poses, but the ones that have loads like the items I listed off are seemingly dying out,j and I know for a fact tons of users, including myself, love an item with loads of different things in it.

That's my first thought when I look at an item and see if it's worth the price is by how many poses. And I agree with your assessment on how items like Gogh Reed are okay to be higher priced, just not 2500 gc and up, imo. The only reason an item with less poses, like, anything Rosamund or Sainte Ciel I love some of the unique poses they have put in. Yes, I know they just recolor, but I love the legs! I use them a lot. And they have other great poses that look well done to me. Some of these newer items just don't have the quality or quantity to justify their gaia cash prices imo.
