Speaking of the petition, kudos to you on keeping it updated. I check here and the petition thread daily and see loads of more users signing. Hopefully we can see a better Gaia before we reach 1,000 sigs. But after this release of FB, I doubt the admin/staff will even bat a lash. Being done with Flynn for good would do this site wonders. But I can't see them releasing their grip on her cash sink, ever. gonk

I know exactly what you mean. I was able to afford like 30$ a month or so on Gaia, but lately it has been hard for me to justify more money than that. At the rate of this inflation, no one will be able to purchase items who doesn't have the real money. I mean all of the old ways to earn gold on gaia have no become so outdated, earning a few thousand gold a day doing other things other than buying with GC and selling for gold just don't equal out. No one will be able to enjoy nice items except the people who have real money. I don't remember that being why I joined Gaia a few years ago. I wanted to meet people and play games and have fun, but it seems that over time more and more shiny pixels have been thrown in my face to convince me to spend money. I don't mind supporting the site, but I mean this has just gotten out of hand now. It's basically, keep spending money or be left behind.

Well who wants to support a site that doesn't support them? If no one's listening, then the $5 to $10 I could've been dropping here will go to a homeless man for all I care. I bet that hobo man would be more willing to listen to my opinions and would probably end up putting my money to better use. (Yeah, a 40 of Bud is probably more worth my money than this sister site.)

I don't even see why they suddenly need so much more of our cash (other than personal greed).
For years and years on end things were running fine without verge and flynn.
If it was so bad, how come they could afford running the site for so long?

Personally, I think all the money they've been trying to grab at is to launch their sister site. But I honestly don't think anyone gives two shits about a new site when the one they've been on for years is treating them like such crap.

I'm not surprised. I've already suspected they are going to shut gaia down, seeing how one sale after another is released and how they don't make any official statement in regards to our complaints.

An official statement explaining ANYTHING would be useful.

I'm worried you're probably right. I think I saw you mentioning that to someone else the other day.
Why bother talking to the users and correcting the MP if they're just going to let it die out, right?

The thing is, if they really are going to shut down gaia, they most likely are liable to refund users or even pay compensations for tricking people into purchases who buy GC in good faith thinking they would be able to use gaia for a long time, who then stops the service.

So the hell they will do and announce they are going to ditch gaia for a new site.

In my opinion, it's not that they need the money. They just happened to discover that they can make so much more money than they'd ever imagined, and they will not stop.


The problem is that even the inflation benefits them. That's why they're re-releasing items for more GC than the first time around. For instance, you want an item and these days it's doubled in price. They just re-release it for doble the GC it originally was because they figure you might say "Hmmm, paying $10 bucks is easier than coming up with X million gold."

Easy boy, it's 100 pages.

The fact that gold inflation is great for them (short term) is a new realization for me, so I wanted to share a thought.

Oh well, nothing's new under the sun.

It's not just good for them in short term, I'm afraid.
It will be good for them as long as items are inflated so much that even flynn's booty wouldn't enable you to buy the items off mp unless you spent a few hundred bucks on GC.


I'd even be so bold and claim that right now it would be cheaper for people to buy re-releases with GC than risking failing with flynn, seeing that it's a rig and that you'd only make ~1mil if you have bad luck.

Though I can't be bothered doing the maths for it right now, so don't take my word for it. I'm just applying common sense right now, not maths.
