Well, I'm not exactly aware of who was behind those PMs. Whether it was the Artist BlueAlaris himself, or if the account was used freely by multiple Staff members.

But it's how descriptive the lies are in those PMs that's troublesome. That a Staff member could lie to someone that in-depth. The same Staff members that have the responsibility of overseeing the community. Hopefully this is just an isolated case, and there's nothing to worry about.

Although, I can't help but feel unsettled by this. How can we trust anything they say, if we know they'll lie so casually if it suits their agenda?

You don't. Gaia's never straightforward or honest with anything unless they have to be. And even in situations where they have to, their main priority is covering their own a**. That's the kind of company it is. They'll throw whatever they need to under the bus to achieve that end. They'd rather do that then fix their own mistakes.

I hope that, at least the culprit behind those PMs, and the abundance of lies going around is punished/removed.

We really don't need someone who will lie point-blank to the community like that, just to cover their a**.

This thing makes me wonder just how many Gaia staff mules there are, playing their little games, jerking people around, tampering with the MP and contests, voting down threads critical of Gaia. I've always suspected some of these people who obsessively defend Gaia in the forums are mules of Gaia staff members or management. I bet they get a kick out of sneaking around and doing this type of stuff. They got caught this time, but it's anybody's guess how much crap they pull that nobody knows about.

I admit that I suspected the same a few times, a few timed appearances by users with strong opinions despite the abundance of evidence pointing to the contrary.

At first, it wasn't something I'd imagine the staff stooping to. Although, after reading the shameless way they lied in those PMs, it's become a very real concern. Who exactly knows how many mules are out pulling the strings to what we as the users thought was a community-driven site.

It was an incredibly ill-conceived plan from the start. They should have had a fixed amount of tickets for release, based on and knowing the work that would be involved, so the artists wouldn't end up overwhelmed. They do new items and recolours literally every day now, they should have had a good idea of how much time/effort each would take on average (although they should then have taken into consideration extra time for communications with the ticket-holders). This is basic operations management.

The execution of the plan though is what truly disappoints me. Shortsightedness about how overwhelmed they'd be by the tickets? Silly, but I could give it a pass. Those deliberately manipulative and deceitful PMs? No. So much no.

Wanting to hide that you're staff when buying something off the Marketplace is one thing. (Although buying it for 10, 20 times the usual price is incredibly messed up given the known problems with excessive gold in circulation. For Pete's sake Gaia, you are running a goldsink right now. You know better!)
Repeatedly choosing to mislead a human being about who you are, what you're doing, how, and why, in order to get them to trust you, is fraud.

The staff should have been honest with all of us. They might have gotten flak for messing up, but it wouldn't have resulted in so much damaged trust.

How about a gaia win bundle+ or whatever? they should count as a item and they generator 2 tickets at a time. emotion_awesome
Imagine 2 golden tickets.
Recolors are easy and anyone skilled with a program can make a full recolor in less than 5 minutes.
What could be difficult is making 2 golden ticket items (12 brand new poses) with the hardest and most difficult poses you can imagine,perhaps full body mods with a background for each pose.

for those of you planning out what item Rina should chose, you forget that this was pretty much almost bribe money to keep everything hushed up. You make it out like he should turn this into a good thing and take advantage of getting a free item. While this idea of having an item of your choosing is enticing. It still cannot be thought of as " OK well a gaia Admin has been lying through their teeth but at least they're giving you a free item! Thats makes it alright then!" ITS STILL WRONG, THEY STILL LIED multiple times.

I once got accused of being a staff member's mule when in reality, I'm a 24 year old living in Davis, 2-3 hours away from where Gaia HQ is located, and with absolutely no art skills, coding skills, or even high-end administrative skills to even work for Gaia.

So be careful with that accusation, because some of the people who obsessively defend Gaia may actually be their own person, and not a mule of any staff members.

A lot of people are being sarcastic about it, like my comment adding to someone suggesting the Sapphire ticket where they should redeem it and have the EI be about the corruption going on now.
