You have to know they're doing it for the money. They say "lots of people like it" which is of course true, but they're not selling it because of the positivity of the item, they're selling it because it sells.

If something negatively affects the site and a good chunk of users, but doesn't give Gaia money, even if the majority want it, they wouldn't do it. However, in this situation the difference is that it does give Gaia money, even though everything else checks out.

People buy FB, Gaia makes money, the cycle continues. There's nothing we can do about it. Except of course, close our wallets and leave the site - the former can be done easily, it's the latter that rips us apart.

They basically have no self control. It's all about getting as much money as possible NAO. Whether it causes the site to crash and burn or the economy to tank or half the users to leave in disgust -- they don't care. They want the money NAO. Greed has taken over all of their common sense. Greed can become like a drug to people, and I think it's actually taken over the minds of these people who are running Gaia. They're destroying everything in their path to satisfy their own greed.

I'm probably going to leave too. This site has nothing going for it anymore. The people running it are just greedy and inconsiderate, and I've got bills to pay that pixels won't help with.

Also, you'd think they wouldn't do this in the middle of a governement shutdown, but then again, they're all mindless and money hungry, so I guess they don't give a s**t.

It goes without saying that hard feelings exist here here, that doesn't mean that anyone is allowed to call someone else names or make abusive posts about someone else.

I am not posting to lecture- just to offer a different perspective. There are many, more fulfilling ways of handling that kind of negativity that are strongly encouraged. It doesn't matter who they are on the site- they are still users, just like you and I :3

If you were namedropping (like saying the CEO's name instead of "the CEO"), then of course it was deleted. Even my post in a thread was deleted for mentioning names (which is considered namedropping), which I had forgotten was against the rules, even though I wasn't saying anything negative (instead, my post that got deleted said something like "take (gaia artist) for example, this person was more active before (ceo) came" wink --it was just because I mentioned direct names instead of "this artist" or "the CEO".

Where does it say name dropping is against the rules? I'm not denying that it is, I just would like to see the rationale behind it, especially seeing as it wasn't something enforced at all until recently (excluding instances where the name dropping was a clear form of harassment).

I know it says so in the GD rules, but I wouldn't be surprised if it applied to Gaia site-wide. But I'd say that those particular threads calling for those individuals to be fired did count as a form as harassment (and you can't deny that those threads existed). sweatdrop

No one deserves to be called names or be made fun of. I am not saying anyone has to like what's happening, but there is never license to call names or encourage negative name-calling.

To be fair, I see the same pop-up offers, announcements and whatnot that everyone else does. There is a lot of good that can come out of it- but I respectfully wish to retain my opinion because I do not want to appear to impose my views, being a Staff member, on anyone that may feel otherwise. It's just more preferable to see more constructive criticism and less personal attacks.

Just a few quick questions:

1) Is it against the ToS to name drop? If so, can I find that rule listed on the ToS page linked at the bottom of my screen?

2) What counts as name dropping?
