I think we should be able to send it to the 'trash' then a mod can look over it and delete it when they get around to it.

I understand why staff don't want users to be able to just delete threads but then there's nothing stopping someone from editing their posts so any 'evidence' of wrong doing can always be edited away.

But I think we should be able to decide if we want to delete a thread that's no longer in use since otherwise it's just wasting space on the site.

I'd rather not, as others have said there are ways it could be abused. I do understand though, there are some older threads of mine I wouldn't mind deleting.

However being able to delete threads could...

> Be another way for hackers to damage an account once they sell or steal everything or whatever.

> If there were users who, for whatever reason, share their password with their bf/gf then they break up... whoever got the boot could go on a rampage and delete important threads just to hurt their ex.

> It would mess with other people's post count as well as your own, which in turn would mess with the achievement for posting 10,000 posts.

Then you pm a mod and ask them to move it

Well, the having the ability to delete a thread on your own could save a lot of time both for the mod and the user..
That was actually the whole point I was trying to get across in my previous post...
I understand that allowing users to delete their OP has it's own risks and can be abused...
A better idea would be to trash the thread (OP) in the CB on your own, the option of moving your thread in CB by yourself from any forum section would be nice...
The mis-thread would die out really fast in that forum, I think that CB would make a great grave yard for mis-posts..

Personally, I wouldn't care either way. The only time I wish for something to be deleted is if it's after three months later and someone finally posts because they g-searched, especially if it were a heated topic that you no longer cared to continue, but because it's been bumped to the first page of a forum, it's hard to ignore.

But, honestly...most inactive threads die after that time, so there's really no reason for this. Plus, I fear this will be abused. Say someone posts something inappropriate for idiocay reasons and then deletes it and keeps repeating this. I know a number of CBers who would abuse this. I think we should just leave it to the mods; it's their job after all.

A thread locking feature would be nice.

Why not just have it as a limit. Say a thread can be deleted by the user after its been up for a least a month. Or if a thread hasn't been posted on in a year, a notice will pop up to the owner and ask if they want to delete it.
