Mind you, she can't do anything, Developers/Admins are the only ones who can edit gaia.
But the point is still the same.
I thought that by "you", she was addressing Gaia in general as moderators, being part of the Gaian Staff, represent Gaia and its Staff.

That's what I got. I'm just saying.

This has been posted 3 times already, I've taken note of it, and I don't think it covers cybering, as to issues I have stated above.

It was fine before, why was it changed?
I'd say cybering is pornographic. It's defined as, by Dictionary.com:

Quote:
obscene writings, drawings, photographs, or the like, esp. those having little or no artistic merit

I suppose being a little more specific wouldn't hurt.

I'm a little pissed off at this, as cybering (Engaging in sexual typing/pictures/noise between two people over online connections, also known as Cyber Sex)
was banned completely in the old ToS, it's now allowed in PMs?!?!
I was told by a mod a few months ago it is forbidden in PMs, and now this? (I was asking about something, not being reported)

Quote:
..Cybering is absolutely not allowed in the forums.
You are addressing a point from the R&G describing what is allowed in forum posting. Since that particular section only pertains to forum posting, only forum posting needs to be mentioned. Looking at the actual ToS gives us:
ToS
4. Prohibited Conduct -- BY USING GAIA ONLINE YOU AGREE not TO:
.
b. send, post, or make available pornographic, threatening, embarrassing, hateful, racially or ethnically insulting, libelous, or otherwise inappropriate messages to other Gaia Members

which, as you can see, specifically outlaws cybering in all forms as that would be considered either pornographic or otherwise inappropriate messages.
I took note to that, but it dosen't seem to cover cybering, many people woulden't consider sexual messages innapropriate, scince 'It's a natural occurence' and such, I just want to know why it was changed, it said Gaia before, not forums.
Sexual messages would still be considered pornographic though, so cybering is covered even if you consider sex to be a "natural occurence". The reason that particular area of the R&G says forums is because it is about message posting. It would silly for you to have instructions on how to build a bike in your manual for your do-it-yourself bird feeder kit, similarly guidelines for things other than posting are not mentioned in guidelines for message posting.
Message Posting and PMing are essentialy the same thing, and are refered to as the same a few times I believe, I'm not going to check it right now (This computer is ready to crash, I will check it up after restart in 30 minutes or so)
If it wasn't, it is in some form of the rules, be it a different part, or the old version.
Sorry havent been reading every post, hence the edit there. sweatdrop

Not many new users going to read past the R&G, you think you could make it a tad more obvious, with as bad as it is in the Chatterbox and some mature rp guilds?
You're given the ToS to peruse through when you sign up for Gaia. If you choose not to read the Terms of Service that you agree to when you sign up for Gaia, then you're basically choosing to make yourself ignorant. Ignorance of the rules doesn't exempt you from the rules. You agree to the ToS when you sign up for Gaia, not the R&G

@Seaphron:Mod is one thing, but unfortunately mods don't know everything, the problem is still out there to me.

Well the TOS says you agree to abide by the R&G so technically you agree to those as well.

Is there any way to raise awareness about this though? Mods sometimes make announcements in certain forums, like chatterbox, when issues get out of hand, like the flaming temp sticky.

Could there be a cybering temp sticky?
It's mentioned in the Chatterbox rules and guidelines as well, I just think that, well, obviously, with all the hook up threads in the chatterbox, the current measures arent doing as well as they could.

Regardless, it's in the ToS you signed up for. Just because it isn't re-emphasized in the R&G, doesn't make it any less applicable.

However, for clarification's sake, I'd like to point out that "posting" generally connotates making posts on a forum, and that I see nothing in the "message postings" section to make me think that this was rules for private messages at all, other than both having the word "message" as part of their titles.

Posting and sending private messages are equally covered as "conduct" in the ToS, but that sweeping generalization doesn't necessarily imply that anytime forum posting is addressed, PMs are also addressed with the same criterion.

Yes, you agree to the R&G as well. However, as I previously stated, the presumed lack of re-emphasis in the R&G doesn't null any of the restrictions and clauses previously agreed to in the ToS.
The point is that if people choose not to read the rules, they still agreed to follow them? Excuse me, but it seems to me that you're just trying to be difficult now.

It's been pointed out, quite clearly that cybering isn't allowed anywhere on gaia, with reference to the specific rule (which states people cannot post, send or make available pornographric content) and yet you still persist that isn't good enough.

Oh please understand, I know.

But as it stands, the users just click and skip over the TOS most of the time. Some key points need to be emphasized in problem areas.
I mean laws exist in real life, and people agree to abide by them, that doesnt keep them from breaking them.
Until more moderators are added to Gaia's staff, I just feel it would be effective to reinforce points of the TOS and R&G that are repeatedly broken and infringed upon.

If you can raise awareness about the topic being wrong, less people will break the rules, this makes it easier on mods overall and can help with backup in those crowded forums. Many people in the Chatterbox that I talk to believe that cybering is okay in PMs.
