Not only that, there should be a cap on the bidding price. Most of the items are already into the 400k price range and I know a lot of gaians can't afford that on an average day so perhaps there should be a way for people to be unable to bid if they do not have the asking price already in their account. If this system was possible then not only would we not have to worry about winning something and not being able to pay but it would also limit the bidding pool to just people who can afford the item leaving less people to reset the timer and the bid time would hopefully last shorter meaning more items could be put on the market.

Exactly. If you don't have the gold in your account to pay for the item then it should prevent them from bidding. This would help keeping the bids from rising to high and to help the auctions end.
That really doesn't solve the problem. Cause I could easily either borrow the gold from a friend or draw art really fast in order to come up with the money :/

I think there needs to be a cap on the gold amount.

ALSO NEEDS TO STOP RESETING! NO ONE GONNA WIN ANYTHING IF IT KEEPS RESETING!

Amen!

Once upon a time there was this little tiny company that was just starting off and was looking for some donations to keep it up and running. There were some people that really had some faith in the company so they started donating every month. The company was very thankful so in return they started sending out thank you letters and every month within them was a new surprise. After 8 years and many thank you letters later, the amount of people involved with the company had increased dramatically and many new cool features have been added for supporters of the company. And each month they still release a new thank you letter for their investors. So, everyone should be happy right?

I just feel like this really shows a lack of respect you have for the people that have gotten the site to where it is now. I understand the prices are obnoxious. And the marketplace is insane & "the rich keep getting richer.", etc. Just keep in mind though, what those items were really about before you start reproducing them for a profit & making crazy bid wars to give them away.

/end rant
Well it's also sad that some of the rare items are lost on inactive accounts. A lot of people that joined GAIA in the beginning and got the items that are so rare today have left the site and have left these rare items to collect dust in their inventory. I think this was the best resolution to that problem
I'm pretty sure there are people already using some type of scripting because if you watch the panels, there are some users that reset the time on the auction when they are already the top bid. Either that or they're stupid, which is also highly likely.

I find it amusing that the auction for the Elegant White Satin Coat is still going, considering the fact that it's not even worth half of what the bid price on it now is. Like stated before, there should probably be a cap, just a little above MP price maybe?

Personally, I find the above situation to probably be a misunderstanding on most people's parts. They probably think that they only need to pay for the tickets and if they win, they just get the item. Won't they be surprised when they realize they actually have to buy the item as well.

The concept of Bid Blast is wonderful. Its a great way to bring back old items that are still in high demand but are pretty much non-existant at this point. However, the problems with this system is already pretty obvious.

While its nice that these bids are immune to last minute snatchers... because you know, swooping is bad, but it also makes it pretty much impossible to buy, really.

There's always going to be that one guy...

(Should be noted that I did not read this entire thread and most of these points have most likely already been stated, but its always nice to let a person rant.)

I like the overall idea, but the Satin coat is getting out of hand :/ seriously? over 400k?

I also have a question...what happens if you win the bid but it's more gold then what you have?

With the current system if you win an auction, you will have 7 days to claim & pay for the item and if you choose not to do so, it will be put back into circulation for another auction.

Side Note:
The chances of matching the 170 million gold price for Mini Angel Wings is Very Low.

The Math
The current clock is 47:46:36.
That's 171,996 seconds.

At 1g increase per bid, in order to get to 170 million (170 million / 171,996 second), 988.39 bids would have to be posted... EVERY SECOND.

That's just not going to happen. So, let's try a feasible number to get the maximum bid potential..
10 bids per second? 1.71 million gold.
25 bids per second? 4.29 million gold.
50 bids per second? 8.59 million gold.

So the bid is still relatively cheap, but how many Gaians can afford to pay that much when they win the item?
You're not taking into consideration that the actual deadline for the wings are Sunday the 25th

You could sell them on the marketplace.

Point I have noticed in a lot of post about bid blast is it will be a easier way for people to troll. Ontop of that I dont think its going to work the way its supposed to because all the very wealthy gaians are going to be able to control this thus causing the inflation in the Marketplace to worsen greatly. I loved the idea though before it came out but Im not going to pay 500k+ for an item I can buy at 50k. Get what Im saying? There needs to be a regulation. Like how many bids you can make in a day. IE: Only allowed to make about 10 bids. Which would then make people look at it and say, "I only have this much so I should sparingly use it" That way people that just spam it just to inflate its bid can at least be put in some kind of check. Lets face it. If they arent a lot of gaians wont be able to use this feature.

I forgot to post my feedback for Bidblast.

There are a couple things wrong with the current system, firstly I'd like to address the fact that this is a poorly veiled and poorly thought out gold sink. While items are meant to be cheaper, the people who already can't afford these items will waste thousands of gold on tickets, just to fail to win an item they already can't afford. The people who have surplus gold will hardly be affected. This only widens the gap between the have and have nots of Gaia.

Another issue is the mechanics of the bidding itself. While in theory it makes sense to have a system where people can't snipe auctions and everyone has ample time to place a bid. In practice, we now see you've implemented the bidding loop of doom. No one is winning anything and people are becoming increasingly upset.

The tutorial was a great idea, however, I would still have put "you actually have to pay if you want the item" somewhere in big brilliant letters so people don't think that being #1 on the list means they're getting a rare item for that one ticket. I also would have made sure there were some way to stop people making erroneous bids on items they cannot afford. People would be much less likely to bid if they were required to be able to cover their bids.

I'm also concerned that with seven days to pay, those who actually win an auction against all odds (I'm referring to the bidding loop of doom here) will be posting in the Marketplace forum offering to sell their item for a profit. This could lead to scamming and quite frankly its just unfair to everyone who spent their tickets trying to bid. That would undermine the entire system. Perhaps making the items bound to the user's account for a period of time would eliminate this problem.
