Thank you so much ! ; ___ ; It is seriously amazing ugh
AhhhHhhh I'm so glad you are happy with it I kind of thought you would think ... you were getting screwed ... but I am also v happy it has made my week ty again !!
The bar didn't stop talking when Gale walked in. It was already friendlier than the last place.
There wasn't even a lull in conversation when he pushed open the doors and paused, taking stock of the situation with a quick glance, pushing his hat back from his face-- tired old men playing cards, drinking at the bar, drinking at tables. not dead silence, but far from the rowdy energy he had imagined. Less dusty, too.
He took a step in and let the doors close behind him, moving towards the bar. There was a cursory glance as he passed one table, but clearly no-one was going to take offence at his being there.
*Definitely* friendlier than the last place.
The bar was unmanned, but he could wait. Almost instantly there was another body beside him, sudden and startling, but he refrained from reaching for his gun. Such progress.
"Howdy," she asked. "Buy a girl a drink?"
He looked to her face, amused. It had been a while, but he hadn't forgotten what it was like-- there was a faint tickle of memory, brown hair and brown eyes, decidedly less ruffles. He wasn't going to judge her, but he wasn't going to pay for it, either.
"Maybe next time," he rumbled, looking away again. The bartender moved towards him, not quite showing wariness.
"Something I can help you with?" He stood behind the bar, palms flat on the surface. There was the same looking in his eyes that Gale saw whenever he looked in the mirror, so he understood. A whole lot of different kids went off to war with swagger in their step and a shiny gun in their hands, but it was really only the one type that came back again.
It wasn't enough to change his mind.
So he answered the bartender, hands by his sides and figure relaxed, not looking for trouble, while the bartender stood and judged him and decided whether or not he *felt* like helping him. In the end, his efforts were rewarded by a head toss to the corner of the room.
There were no dark corners for the broody types to lurk in, but this one was giving it a damn good shot all the same. He was hunched over the table, and on the table, sat a mug. His hand never left it but he never brought it to his lips, and he had the look about him that reminded Gale of an animal-- if I can't see you, you can't see me, and we'll just go on about our business not seeing each other, if it's all the same to you. He didn't look up as Gale approached, and even when he was standing there, there was no acknowledgement.
"Afternoon," he uttered, breaking the silence. His posture was less relaxed here, uncomfortable as he was with his back to a room full of strangers.
"Whatever you're selling," came the response. "I ain't buying."
"Wise policy," he agreed. "But what *you're* selling, *I'm* buying."
There was a pause, and wary glance was cast in his direction. Then, suddenly, he had a best new friend.
"Ah, but why didn't you say so!" The cheerfulness was forced, an uncomfortable contrast. "Sit down and have a drink! Lord, but you're *taller* than I imagined."
No answer.
"Ah-- all business! I like that in a man." The other stood, mug full and utterly forgotten. "Off we go, then!"
They went.
His new friend seemed incapable of allowing silence, and talked constantly, despite the lack of response. They passed through town and glances were thrown in the pairs direction that were neither interested nor suspicious. They saw no children.
As they passed out the other side, his friend remarked on his fine choice of horse. Gale-- aware that it was not fine, and barely counted *as* a horse, bought for practical reasons rather than aesthetic-- once again said nothing.
"Had one just like that when I was, oh, would have been nineteen, if I remember correctly," his friend informed him, seriously. "Took me all over, for years. Lost her eventually, but a good horse is a man's best friend, in my opinion, I don't mind telling you twice!"
Gale said nothing.
"All over, oh yes. Had that one long, have you? Looks practically brand new!"
He laughed, but got no answer.
"Say-- where did you say you were from, again? I can't recall, now we come down to it."
"I didn't," Gale answered, bluntly, and the message got across.
"Fair enough, fair enough! A man's got nothing if he don't have his privacy, I always say. Why, just-- oh!" He broke off suddenly, and pointed ahead, urging his own steed faster. "There she is, up ahead-- ain't she a *beaut*?"
Gale lifted his gaze from the road in front of them to the road ahead, and saw that this was true-- that it was there, not that it was beautiful. The house got no less attractive as they neared, until they were in front and it was clearly worn although not broken, and all he felt was a vague sense of comradery.
"Oh yes, won't find a better fit 'round here, I don't mind telling you!" The desperation rolled off his new friend in waves, as if now they were here, Gale might change his mind and ride away. He would be lying if he said the thought didn't cross his mind. "*Well*," came the amendment, almost instantly. "Not for what *you're* offering."
"Why are you selling?" Gale asked, calmly. There was another one of those pauses.
"Do you have a family?" asked his new friend, and Gale nodded. Not nearby, but they existed. "Well-- so do I. And I think it's about time I went and made amends, if you catch my drift."
Gale thought of the way he sat in the bar alone. He thought of the way the town. And he nodded, because that was what was expected of him.
His new friend took the sack offered to him, tucking the coins eagerly into his saddle. He resettled the hat on his head and turned away. Then he paused.
"The town," he stated. "They'll come around quickly enough."
Gale thought this was probably true. If he was lucky, they wouldn't even show up with pitchforks and torches.
"I can wait," he said, aloud.

Ill send a gold payment for now, plus the art trade hopefully sometime tomorrow : )
?? No there is no rush this is a shitty draft so that you can request changes / decide you want a new scenario / laugh grossly and say no ty with no hard feelings
kshdfksf I'm actually really bad at bluffing things so that last option is 100% on the table
But okay I will edit it ?? But seriously there is no need for gold / to hurry. It takes me ******** forever to do anything apparently I AM SO SORRY I've been so tediously slow it's awful.
Just
HERE IS PROGRESS in the form of a shitty draft I did not just disappear emo

oooh Ok ok, then I will send a WIP when I can as equivalent xD You can take the gold though, I think you are working so hard over this, you deserve at least that much for your work so far! I am curious to know if that's how it'll end though, r if you've got more to the ending?
Also, am gonna draw Xanders, or did you prefer a diff OC?
Uhhhh I have no idea where to go with the ending but if you have any suggestions I can def try to work them in ?? It's pretty much all
waffling
idk
/rolls about
Oh man if you want to do Xander that's fine ?? I thought you'd be more into Lucas (since he's manly and muscled etc) but I like Xander more lmao
um um umm would you be interested in writing a short story about these two? Puck and Pax
if you need more information about them just ask or tell me to go away idk Q nQ;;
I honestly just want an interaction scene between the two of them - since they always end up arguing I figured something with that. we can talk more about it if you're interested u Au
a- also for pricing I'm still not 1OO% on what I should give you but I'm willing to give you like 300mill if that's too little or whatever just tell me OTL
I am typing this up v quickly before I go to bed / please excuse any shortness it's nothing to do with you I swear
tbh as long as the bribe is above my min then it's fine. I update it whenever I can be bothered looking at the economy and I haven't cared for a while so I can't penalize you for my laziness ?? That would be silly.
And you fleshed out the profiles A+ they sound like cuties
But I am on the fence because I am so incredibly slow atm, because life and work and other boring reasons that don't matter. (Most of which should be done in a few weeks when work is a thing that is done but also that's a while away.) If I did accept, I won't even pretend that it'll be done quickly, because that would be a terrible lie and I am a terrible liar.
Also when you say discuss more does that mean you have specifics in mind or ??

okaay well after looking around at other writing shops I think I can offer without feeling like an a** * u*;;; hopefully.
and aww thank you I'm glad you think so! I still have to add to it because they're still growing and such
Honestly I don't care for due dates or stressing people out about getting things done. Like as long as you work at your own pace and it gets done someday eventually I don't mind. idk I don't like being rushed so why would I rush someone else, you know? I understand you have your own life and I respect that. However, it's up to you to accept it or not, but just know that I'm not difficult when it comes to these things.
and no I don't think I have any specifics in mind. I was hoping I could talk to you and bounce off ideas. like what you could see yourself writing with them or something idk
Alrighty then. I've gone through and edited it once so it should only be a few more days until I'm done.
Not that I'm rushing you or anything I mean take your time but hurray for progress on my end omg
mrugi
Annnnd if you are still interested then I will probably start on this after I'm done with Terminus' !! I like their kind of dynamic, so.
I appreciate you being so understanding about rl </3 I know waiting for stuff sucks and I hate doing it too, but holy s**t life. Not having to stress about a due date is a huge plus.
Oh yeah, that's fine ! Sometimes people come in tho with these huge planned out stories (re : 'we'll discuss it if you're interested') and that's no fun at all to write </3 I've done it in the past, but I don't think I'd want to do it again. It was very tedious :c
