A philanthropist backed the opening of the company so they're off to a good start, and almost guaranteed to last. Based on the flier and what you've heard online, it isn't a scam. People are talking about them accepting auditions for idols, though they're only going to produce ten at a time. Being an idol sounds like a pretty good idea and this is a rare opportunity.

You find your best photo, fill out the application and hope for the best.

This roleplay follows the adventures of 156 Productions' ten new prospective idols and their journey to stardom! You'll get to sort stats, release singles, and play your idol all the way to international fame.

♥ Follow the Gaia TOS. It's pretty easy to do. Keep the rating PG-13 or under, and use common sense. If it seems like something you want to do would violate Gaia or the roleplay's rules, then either don't do it, or consult in the OOC thread before doing it.

♥ Respect your fellow roleplayers and moderators. If someone else's character pops up and has a beef with your character, don't take it personally. Don't get into arguments, and if you have something you want to say, word it politely, or just don't say it. Also, respect the decisions of the thread mod.s, we're not here to make your life miserable, we're here to help the roleplay run smoothly and be fun.

♥ No god modding. Your character is not perfect, there are no auto-failures or auto-successes. This includes not fudging with your skills. We assign you skill points, so please don't go telling us how many you earned. We'll keep track of it, so don't worry.

♥ Don't repackage characters. Create your own original character. Don't just reuse another character from a pre-existing series. Also, try not to use wildly popular images that you see everywhere for your character.

♥ Keep your idol color under an actual word. If you use a hex code, then attach a fitting name to it. If you cannot figure out what names go with different colors, try looking here.

♥ This is a literate roleplay. For each post, we'd like at least three paragraphs per post. At minimum, a paragraph is five to seven sentences. Pretty formatting is also appreciated, but make sure its readable.

♥ When you submit a reserve, include a roleplay sample. We'd like you to include the post in the PM, with no formatting other than size 10 font, but leave the formatting for the reserve and profile alone, except for the colors. Color 1 is the idol color, while color 2 is a secondary color, and can be whatever you want. The reserve PM should be titled 'Aim to be a top idol!', while the actual profile PM should be titled 'Suteki Ai Like Hamburger'. By titling them appropriately, you agree to abide by the rules.

♥ Keep active! Post at least two times a week. A dead roleplay is not a fun one. If you are going to be away for a while, warn us in the OOC thread. If we feel you're being inactive, we may send you a warning. Also, by default, if we get to the next cycle, and you have not posted, you will be kicked out for inactivity.

xxx► (156 PRO) Skills

Skills are the core of your idols potentials and abilities. Your idol starts with 16 points to distribute among the eight different skills; these points will be awarded when your idol passes the first round of auditions. (When your reservation is accepted.) You will also gain an additional two points to a specific stat based on the natural talent that you are awarded after the first audition. There is a maximum of five points per skill when distributing starting points, excluding the natural talent. For example, if you put five points into Dance and have the Dance talent, you may have a maximum of seven points in your Dance skill when starting the roleplay. Excess points are awarded each cycle based on amount of post and a number of other factors. An idol's skills will determine the success of photo book/album sales as well as concerts.

There are 16 different skills in this role play. The skills are Dance, Voice, Lyrics, Acting, Posing, Stamina, Self Promotion and Charm. These skills determine your idol's strong points and success in particular attributes of being an idol. You are only responsible for distributing new skill points when they are given to you, and will be informed of your idol's successes based on their skills. This is merely an easy way to keep things fair, idols unique and the game moving at a decent clip. Each idol will be given a Natural Talent when they audition. This talent will give them a boost in one particular skill each cycle, which is about every ten pages. Each talent has a fancy name which is only that; meaning if you get Modeling Maniac, your idol does not actually have to have a passion for modeling. You can write it in however you want, if at all, to their character. Natural Talents are not intended to influence the direction of your character and are merely a bonus. Each skill will be described below, with a short bit on what each skill is and what it is used for. The name of the associated Natural Talent is written in italics next to the skill name.

Also, all skills are balanced. The more things a skill influences, the less it influences those things and visa-versa. Therefore all skills are equal and you should choose based on where you would like your idol to excel.

Voice "Natural Vocalist"; One of the two core stats in the game. This is your idol's ability to sing. The Voice skill influences concert success as well as the success of the sale of albums and singles.

Dance "Athletic Potential"; The second of the two core stats in the game. This is your idol's ability to learn and perform the choreography that goes with the songs. The Dance skill influences concert success as well as the success of the sale of Concert DVDs.

Lyrics "Unrivaled Memorization"; This is an idol's ability to memorize lyrics and learn new songs. Songs are added to an idol's repertoire occasionally but having a higher Lyrics skill allows an idol to learn songs faster.

Acting "Woman of Many Masks"; This is an idol's ability to act. Acting lets an idol branch out into side jobs other than singing and dancing. A higher Acting skill will increase an idol's chance of being chosen for movie and stage show gigs.

Posing "Modeling Maniac"; This is an idol's ability to pose for the camera, and to look good while doing it. Modeling lets an idol branch out into side jobs other than singing and dancing. A higher modeling skill will increase the amount of photo books an idol is asked to produce, and will increase sales of existing idol books.

Stamina "Heroine's Heart"; The higher an idol's stamina, the longer of concerts they can perform, and therefore the more musical numbers they can put in a concert. This also increases how often an idol can take jobs.

Self Promotion "Previous Experience"; Self Promotion accounts for the time, effort, and natural sway an idol has with promoting themselves as an idol. This might be done through small performances in a park, passing out copies of their debut single or maybe running a YouTube or Nico Nico account. This helps to increase an idols popularity and base audience for concerts.

Charm Bright Personality; This is an idol's natural ability to attract fans, either by having a naturally friendly personality or a visual or behavioral trait that appeals to the masses. Charm helps to increase concert success, though less than Voice and Dance will. It also somewhat boosts sales of photo books, singles and albums and will boost popularity a bit.

The offices for 156 Productions are located in the business district, tucked between a real estate company (specializing in apartments) and the front for a dry wall company, with the rest of the building still being up for rent. 156 Productions owns the entirety of their building, with a simple reception area on the first floor with a small suit for recording tucked in the back. There are some offices on the first floor but most of them are currently empty and someone moved a ping pong table into one of them. On the second floor is a small kitchen, mostly for making tea, and a living room like area. For furniture there's a television (mostly used for reviewing performances), plenty of couches and a computer available for anyone's use. On the desk the manager keeps some straws, for when arguments over who gets first dibs happen. The producer has a nice office on this floor, but rarely leaves it. The manager claims she's always in there playing Tetris.

Above these floors are two more floors. The third floor has a bunch of practice rooms, with varying sizes, and a small lounge with a few couches and a water cooler (on the off chance all the rooms are in use). On the fourth floor is the dance studio and the only bathrooms with showers. The studio has enough room for all ten idols to be there at once and thus makes up almost the entirety of the floor.

A quick summary while I work:

156 Productions is situated on the fictionalized island of Miyabi, located far off the southern coast of Japan just like the real Miyabi Island. More literally, it is one larger island with a smaller island closely attached, with two main bridges leading to it. The larger portion of the island consists of three main districts, one being rather rural, another being the typical metropolis with a large harbor and the third being a slightly more subdued metropolis with a smaller harbor. 156 Productions is situated in this third district. There are also two other districts on the small portion of the island attached to the first and third district by their own bridges. One district boasts a rather large airport which serves as the primary mean for people to get on and off the island. The district below that is where most neighborhoods are located.
