~~Story Plot~~
*~Year 3100~*
The small planet known as Sylvardis has seen nothing but peace between its inhabitance for more than three centuries. The single large land mass, pridefully named Mercantea has been a shared single country for as long as there are history records, but there is disturbances stirring in this mighty kingdom. For as long as anyone can remember, magic has been a part of Mercantea. It is used for transportation, healing, and any other form of profession, leaving little in the way of "normal" human jobs and most of the country has become quite poor. As research and mechanics progressed, the dawning of a new age arrived, the age of machine.
*~Year 3130~*
Jobs opened for thousands of non-magic users and even replacing magic completely. But those who used magic didn't give in so easily and fought hard for recognition, saying machines were full of nothing but pollution and anger. The beliefs of both sides began to dramatically differ and the mechanics said that the magic wielders were angering their Gods by holding onto the old way of life. The magic wielders in response said their Gods were furious that they strayed from their beliefs.
*~Year 3140~*
Radicals began to form for both sides. A new group, known as the Steamers, formed on the side of the mechanics along with their Gods and Goddesses. The mages and witches formed their own group of radicals known as Deus ex Machina and they stuck with the Gods and Goddesses the country believed in for years. The leader of each group was thought to be all knowing and noble, showing the way to righteousness and prosperity but in the end each side began to take their point of views to the extremes and corruption ran rampant. Now the country is still in this mixed time between magic and machinery but with neither of the groups really promoted what they truely meant and caused both sides to have a hate-love reltationship with the people.
*~Year 3145~*
Deus ex Machina has been threatened; the leader of the Steamers allegedly trying to assassinate the president of their group and now a war threatens to break out. The King of Mercantea sends out two young knights: one a magic wielder and one an experienced mechanic to go and side with the magic rebels helping to put the Steamers in their place, but along the way they meet up with several other characters, obstacles get in their way and they find the most horrifying corruption in the entire history of Mercantea.

- The group was formed in the year 3140 by Kyle Brockus who is now their leader. A lot can be said about this ecstatic group of engineers, some call them brilliant, creative and even revolutionaries, but others don't see it that way. They have also been called brutes, traitors and even heathens for they aren't exactly known for their manners and hearts of gold. Being the genius' that they are only to be ignored and called foul names by their country left many of these engineers in a deep depression and furious. To think that the country they've honored for so long tossed them aside devastated many. Be that as it may, the Steamers are brilliant minds that have begun the next step in evolution for their civilization.
The lack of normal human jobs and the country of Mercantea bordering on the edge of financial collapse pushed many of these men and women to stray from the teachings of Albica under the three Gods. Instead the mechanics felt that they had their own alliance of Gods watching over them, leading them into the dawn of a new era. Their ideas to have these machines that didn't run off of magic but steam caused an uproar within the high mages and the idea was quickly cast aside.
Kyle was one of the very first to discover this technology and held a great vendetta for the magic users that trashed his idea and left him in the cold. This didn't stop him though, he quickly got back to his work and found out many others had also discovered this amazing steam power but had also been thrown aside of their "devilish" thoughts. Using his advanced leadership skills Kyle was able to bring these people together to show that the Steamer's way is the new generation and they will be forever prosperous under the blessing of the three new Gods.

The Deus ex Machina was formed in the year 3141 by Leander Hinikami shortly after the Steamers came to be. At first the mages felt no reason to rise against the Steamers, feeling that would be the "bigger", more mature people, in control of then the hostile and childish mechanics. For a year the mages felt no major threat, feeling that their way of life was preserved, and that their Gods were going to put the defiant in their place. That was all blown away with an awful tragedy that changed the views between the two groups.
Leander was a beloved mage with a prestigious name and a loving attitude. Living a warm life with his wife and child when a horrid attack on his family left his house in shambles and Leander's wife and child dead. Rumors were that it was the Steamers and the once calm and loving mage quickly rose up and used his anger and loss to bring together some of the greatest mages in Sylvardis and banded a group of their very own; Deus ex Machina, literally translating to "Gods of Machines".

Adaghar The God
Adaghar is the Steamers God of wire, feeling that he guides their hands and blesses them with talents of being able to create such delicate connections. He is described as a rough looking God who moves elegantly with the cables he controls, using them to squeeze the life out of those who oppose him. He is constantly seen sparring with his baby sister Salrynn.

Rothardan the God
Rothardan is the God of the Machine and the main God that controls the trio. He is described as a noble looking man with armour of gold. Ilandris is the goddess of enchantments and is believed to bless those worthy enough to be witches and mages with their powers. She is described as a beautiful woman, with long golden hair and fair skin. She uses arrows as her weapons that she enchants to bring down the enemy quickly, though Ilandris tries all that she can to talk her way out before fighting. Her powers are gentle and has very little in the way of offensive power and she is believed to have created the original healing books the nation uses to this day. Ilandris is the mother of the trio but lacks leadership skills and prefers to let her son take control. Lothcar is thought to be the first to encript his weapons with magical runes that help one channel their powers directly into the weapon. He is described as tall, lean and as gentle looking as his mother. As gentle looking at he may seem Lothcar is not afraid to take control and let his feeling be known. He defends himself with a golden chain he carved runes into that allows him to contol them almost telepathically and can run any spell he so chooses through it. He is the most aggressive of the family and the leader of the Gods. He is almost like a father to his young sister, as they never knew their father who was appearently a very powerful human mage.

About Character Creation and Roleplaying:
While not hard and fast rules, these are some guidelines I look for in the profiles and the subsequent roleplaying:
1. I would appreciate original characters. I understand that all characters have some cliche, mine included. However, try to be somewhat original. I've had roleplayers in the past send me copy-pasted versions of some anime character's wikipedia page with only the names changed. That is unacceptable.
2. Stay true to your profile. We are not Nazis about this rule but we would like it to be followed. If you say you are a Ranged Mage, minimize your time in close combat and decrease your ability in fighting to reflect that. You can have an escape maneuver or two, but you are not going to triumph over someone who specializes in close combat in their element.
3. In the same vein as Rule 2, keep your personality roughly close to the one in your profile. I understand some deviation because characters are inevitably more nuanced than the original personality paragraph can capture, but try to stay within its framework.
4. We will take steps if the above are broken. We are not harsh. In the case of Rule 1, I might ask you to revise a part of your profile slightly and offer some suggestions. In the case of Rule 2 or 3, we'll warn you and ask you to try to return to your profile's intent. We hope this is rare and will develop further punishments only if necessary.
5. As a way to help you maintain freedom, we will change your profile if you come up with some edits or minor changes so that you can play the character as you would like. We expect this to only be used very seldomly, however, and will not allow it to be abused.
6. Final reminder this is an Victorian-esque setting during an industrial time period type of role play even though the year is so advanced so try to keep the level of technology and what not in that era. Tales games tend to be a blend of time periods so advanded version, within resonable levels, of current weapons are acceptable. For example, it's ok to have a beefed up pistol with some magical runes as long as it isn't a syfy laser canon XD. Remember to have fun!

One- Jay Mios was accepted into the Knights at an exceptionally young age because of is extraordinary craft work, only accpeting after bandits destroyed his hometown with his fathers weapons. Although true to his king, he has his own intentions to follow.
Two- Rowan Daniel Czerwenka Rowan is a fairly relaxed surprisingly intelligent, pig-headed, and lazy concidering he just got excepted into the royal knights! He tends to get a bit overconfident, flirty at times, and doesnt take a thing very seriously. Using his avanced magic skills the Deus allowed him to enter sending Lanie into an uproar, and he knew it would.

Second-in-command: Orin Drake,He used to be charming and witty and fun, but as he has gotten older, and circumstances have changed he has gotten spiteful, vengeful, cold, and hardened. He firmly believes his wife has been brainwashed by the Steamers and dedicates most of his time to his book looking for something to break her free. His goal is to keep his son on the path of magic.
One- Lalania Michelsen, too young and inexpirenced to be anything higher then a fighter she is a cold and ruthless trump card, she trusts only the leader because of a horrible tragety and even that was a great feat on Leander's side. Sylardis: The name of the planet, with an atmosphere and size similar to earth but the slightly heavier gravity makes the beings here more muscular then an average human.
Mericantea: The only large land mass on the entire planet, it spans approximately 3,500 miles across and from north to south approximately 1,100 miles. The climate in the west is harsher and tends to have many more droughts then the east, which is much more futile. The large mountain range that dot through the center of the continent keep most of the rain and moisture that collects from traveling too far and only allowing few rain showers and seasonal rains to leak through, although most have learned to adapt to this way of live.
Cheasia: Nearly in the center of the continent Cheasia is the capital of Mercantea and the richest city as well, only the best of the best can afford to live in this luxurious place. The county of Centrum surrounds Cheasia. The king and his knight reside in this city.
Rakilia: One of the three cities to the west, located about thirty miles from the north western sea, it is one of the most of the most futile cities in the west and four days travel from the capital. The county that surrounds the city is called Minimum. This city is also the home of the Deus ex Machina headquaters and filled with the most mages then any other city.
Dynenia: One of the three cities in the west. A land locked a days travel from the capital. It is the least futile and the poorest city in the western side, it is two days from the capital. The county surrounding the city is Vesper.
Lorilia: Southern most of the western cities, the most neutral of the three in terms of financial sercurity and food production, even though the county, Meridiem, is small it is one of the most populated cities.
Nyinia: One of the three cities to the east and sits along the central eastern coast. Besides the capital, Nyinia is one of the richest cities and the most futile out of the continent, producing 80% of the country's food. It is five days from the capital and has the biggest county, Ortus.
Engucia: Another land locked city but the dense rains make it farmable. Flooding tends to be a frequent problem here. It is a days travel from the capital and its county, Parva is the smallest county. This city is also the residing area of the Steamer's and has the most intergration of machinary in all of Mercantea.
Arecia: the northern most of the eastern cities and maybe thirty miles inland. It consists mostly of lower middle class families and is roughly three days from the capital. The county surrounding the city is called Summo.
