Hi, I'm Erica Simms, Former SimModel and co-founder of SimGaian Magazine. In the next weeks a select Jury will pick Gaias Next SimModel out of all our beutiful contestants.
This is a Sims2 contest/roleplay. Anyone can take part, as long as you stick to the rules. Even if you do not play the Sims or do not want to send a model to the contest, we need you as a jury! There will also be some mini contests to take part in.
Join us in our mission to find Gaia Online's Next Top Model!

User Image

How this works:
- Once there are 10 Models, I will set a deadline for applications (about two weeks).
- After that, the jury will decide on 10 models that get to stay in the contest
- Every other Friday, a task will be posted for the models that are still in the contest.
- All tasks will consist of pictures and a small bit of role playing.
- Judging will be based on your pictures (creativity, editing, model...) and RP (creativity, ideas, writing).
- In every episode, one model will go home until only the winner remains!

User Image

Prizes:

All finalists (last three) will get in addition:
- one piece of art (group shot of the models)
- one custom outfit

Winner will get:
- 10k Gaia gold
- One monthly collectible 2008
- One custom set of outfits (from everyday to outerwear)
- One piece of avatar art

Task Seven
(No title this week because I'm too lazy to make one up.)

- Dress your model as a man! : D
- Take 5 PICTURES! MWAHAHAH! *clears throat* Excuse me.
- You're in the final 3 now, so you really gotta sell it. You're a man now, so act like it!
- Actually, no. I have a better idea. How about I give you a choice? You can either dress like a man, dress in a hideous outfit and make it look good, or advertise some kind of hat. Or a combination of the 3. I don't care. But you still have to take 5 pictures.
- Discuss.

Gaia's Next Sim Model Cycle 2 - Week 1

First things first--all of our contestants got a much needed makeover!

User Image

Mickey looks like a whole different person!
“Ummmm...
I kow I said I wanted to look a bit more feminine, but now I look like Barbie...
I like the color, I like the style in general, but it's just soooo different. I'll have to get used to it..
And wearing makeup is not something I usually do, so I barely recognized myself...“

User Image

ALL of Kayla's hair---gone!
“The Stylist asked me if I was a brave woman - I never thought she meant to test my courage that way! I can always wear a wig - but OOOOH! I miss my hair...
(although, it looks kinda cool, but I'm not ready to admit that yet)
I love the makeup, by the way! It makes me look like a real model!”

User Image

User Image
LeeAnne has a cute, retro bob now!
“I absolutely love it! even if I don't stay another round, this makeover was totaly worth it! Its soo cool and retro - and the Marilyn Monroe dress was soo amazing - anyway, after this nobody can ever tell me again that I'm ugly!"

User Image

Cooper looks even more beautiful than before!
“Oh my god. Is that me?
I mean, I love it. Who knew scissors and a gay man could work such wonders?
The hair is totally out of my comfort zone, but somehow it works. And the eye makeup. Oh my god. I can't get over how good it looks! Not to sound narcissistic or anything. I just look really good.
Oh, crud. I'm turning into one of those girls.”

User Image

Cameron got a new Asian look!
“Um, wow. I kind of can't get over it. I mean, I'm used to having short hair. I have since I was six. But this whole sort-of-short-but-really-long-that-looks-short-with-product thing is new to me. I'm not a bold person. I'm happiest painting classic, timeless faces and the like, and now I actually stand out in a crowd. The makeup is exquisite, even though I typically keep the paint on my canvas. But I was a bit surprised when the stylist said that she wanted to 'bring out my Asian roots.'
I'm from Ireland.”

User Image

Audrey had her hair cut and styled very nicely.
“For the first time in my life, I'm shocked past words.
Okay, not really. I really like it, but I don't feel like me. The stylist said there would only be a slight alteration in color, but it seems very light. But I like it. And purple is so not my type of thing, but that is okay, suprisingly. I think it brings out my inner seductress. (See, this is the point where anyone else would expose their upper thigh. Maybe I'm not that seductive yet.) My eyes look so cool. And my skin looks really different. This is what I get for wearing almost a tube of foundation a day. I can't get over the fact that I look like a model!
I'm still a little word-less, so I'm done talking.”

User Image

User Image

Victoria got a bandana, and a whole lot of beaded hair.
“I don't usually do much with my hair, though having it styled seems nice. I must say I never would have thought to wear a bandanna thing but I really like it, and I've always been a fan of braids. All of my friends said I look stunning which made me blush a little. I never thought I would hear that about me.”

User Image

Mikera went for a classic wavy look.
“It's cute.
I was really worried about how it would look, and I said so casually to the person was starting. I guess they took what I said to heart. I would never wear my hair all down before, because it covered an unfortunate accident I once had with a home makeover, but wow! The stylist managed to dye the hideous colour. I love it! And the makeup makes me feel really beautiful. I'm really happy.”

User Image

Helaene's hair got even shorter!
“I really love my new haircut. It's unconventional so I know my parents would hate it. That makes me love it even more! They were already unhappy about my hair before, but now... Haha, I can't wait to see their faces. They'll really flip when they see it's shaved in the back and on the sides.

I really like wearing makeup for a change. Before there was no time. Everything was work, work, work. My dad says all the time, 'You're out there to impress the clients with your business savvy, not your face.' I don't think he'd be able to say anything at all if looking great was my job.”

User Image

Julia got a fancy up-do!
“I quite like my new look. I feel so pretty rather than plain, for once. But at first I was sort of surprised that is was me, you know? It's not that I look wild or dramatically different, but I haven't paid too much attention to makeup and styling my hair until now. I tried a little before, but no one seem to notice. Or if they did they didn't say anything.”

User Image

After the makeover, the girls got a look at the glamorous life they got to try
talking a walk down the red carpet!

User Image

Helaene had a great dress, but some pretty bland poses...
“The makeover really made me feel empowered. I was so ready to dress up nice and strut my stuff. I'm pretty outgoing, so I wasn't shy with the camera at all. I had a great time and felt so at home. I'd love to do it again sometime.”

User Image
User Image

Julia showed us some very vibrant poses!
“Oh, I feel like such a dork! I was very nervous and not sure what to do at first. I've never been very photogenic, but this is something I will have to get used to if I want to make it anywhere in this competition. I have to overcome my shyness or else I'll never be able to model. Although as time passed I felt myself easing up a little. I think if I practice hard I may be able to pull this off. I just have to.“

User Image

Kayla was still in shock from her makeover, and had a little trouble with her pictures.

User Image

LeeAnne was strutting her stuff in a cute Marilyn Monroe dress!
“It was fun! It was raining pretty hard, but the photographer was pretty quick with snapping those shots, so I didn't have to stay in the rain very long.
Practicing those poses in front of a mirror really did pay off...”

User Image

Cooper wasn't very comfortable in such a short dress, but did well anyway!
“Not too bad. I loved the dress, even though it was exposing, and the place we went to was really cute. They even rented me a limo! [It might have been stolen, nobody would spend that much on me]. There were too many other people inside, but we did the whole shebang outside. The photographer was somewhat hot, but the whole low-cut celebrity style dress kind of made me nervous, which is saying something, considering that the only things that makes me nervous are clowns. And the Backstreet Boys.
Anywhoo, I stumbled a bit, but I'm pretty proud of the result.”

User Image

For Cameron, it was a whole new experience!
“No comment. Actually, it was kind of fun. I got to strut my stuff in a way I never have, even though I felt like I was acting. God knows, the way I act regularly is nothing like that. We switched to the same place as Cooper after my area got rained out. I nearly died of embarrassment when the photographer was close and I fell on him. I'm mortified. I couldn't quite get into the mood of the locale and the outfit. But the dress was so far out of my style that I adored it. I mean, orange? Backless?”

User Image

User Image

Audrey got her own custom-made dress just for the occasion!
“It was superfun. I feel like I have so much potential now. I've never "walked the walk" before. And now, look at me. I'm nearly going pro!
So hopefully I get to stay in and learn to "talk the talk." This shoot helped me get to the point where I might even be able to make it on my own if I get eliminated. I did trip [hard], but it's alright. I think I'm okay. And they took this super awesome picture that I adore:”

User Image

Mikera was nervous at first, but once she calmed down she was able to be herself and just have fun with the shoot.

User Image

Victoria sure seemed confident for a blind girl!
“It was a little strange at first. I've never done any modeling or anything like it before but it was fun. I had all day to take the pictures so everything was really laid back. The flowers smelled wonderful, it just put me in a pleasant mood. I know I entered because my friend said I should but I'm starting to like this modeling thing.“

User Image

Mickey looked comfy walking around in her dazzling red dress.
“It was OK, I guess. The photographer was real nice and just took pictures of me while I was moving around so I would get comfy with the camera and the posing - I think he ended up using some of those first pics.”

User Image

Judging time!

There are 10 girls standing in front of me, but I have only 9 pictures in my hand. If I do not call out your name, you have to go back to the house, pack up your things and leave immediately.

User Image

Cooper:
We loved it all. Great poses, beautiful makeover and dress, and the camera loves you. You definetely impressed us the most.

User Image
User Image

Cameron:
You're adorable, even though we all think you look a little nervous in your pictures.

User Image
User Image

Audrey:
Beautiful hair, and you looked great in that dress.

User Image
User Image

Julia:
Even though you said you felt uncomfortable, you still looked confident. You have fun, lively poses, but maybe a little too lively. Also, we feel you should try different options with the hair; maybe let it down once in a while?

User Image
User Image

Mickey:
Gorgeous makeover, you look like a whole different person! But...maybe you should try something else with the makeup.

User Image
User Image

Helaene:
There wasn't much of a makeover, and your poses look stiff. But you still look great!

User Image
User Image

Kayla:
That was a very brave move! We see a lot in you and know you can give it all you've got.

User Image
User Image

LeeAnne:
Going for a retro look, huh? We had divided opinions--some of us liked it, but the others thought you looked to old fashioned.

User Image

Congratulations, you are all still in the running for becoming Gaia's Next Sim Model!

User Image

User ImageUser Image
Mikera and Victoria, please step forward.
Mikera, we accepted you into this competition because we thought you had it in you. But you've shown us that might not be true. Your poses were very unoriginal, and there wasn't much of a makeover at all.
Victoria, you kind of scared us there! That was, uh, interesting. Models are supposed to look pretty, perhaps you could even say girly, but you looked almost gothic. However, you seem different from the other models, and not because of the blindness. We want to keep you, at least a little longer.
Congratulations Victoria, you are still in the running for Gaia's Next Sim Model!

User Image

Gaia’s Next Sim Model Cycle 2 - Week 2

This week everyone was in a photo shoot for a wedding catalog.

User Image

Helaene wore a retro, yet elegant gown.
“I think the pictures are interesting. The first picture was one taken when I was caught off guard by the photographer since he showed up early. I was playing with the piano and felt so embarrassed when he startled me. But then I thought it could be a good thing. The judges thought me too stiff before, so I decided to try and play it more natural this time. I rather like how they turned out, although the whole concept is still a bit new to me.

When I first heard about the bridal shoot I was worried I wouldn't be able to find a dress that would suit my tastes. Since I work for a catering service I've had to deal with so many brides-to-be. I find them so fussy and much too obsessed with making everything perfect and traditional. Weddings just did not sound like somewhere I would want to be. But after shopping around for a while, I found the perfect dress. I just adore it. It's different but still elegant. I added the earrings, necklace and ring my late grandmother gave me to complete the look. Although the jewelry has great sentimental value for me, I still cannot help but laugh whenever I wear the set. My dear grandmother, despite being quite wealthy, still only bought bought cheap costume jewelry.”

User Image

Julia looked great in her classic wedding dress and tiara.
“I'm pretty happy with them. I feel a lot less dorky this time, that's for sure. I tried to hold back on wild poses this time although I was really excited to be there. I'm sort of disappointed that the lighting isn't as nice for some shots though. We were outside in one of those tent wedding set-ups, so after a while the sun was shining through the opening in the tent.

The dress was everything I ever dreamed of. Ever since I was little I had been fantasizing about my dream wedding. When I first tried on this dress I was so amazed at how pretty I looked in it. I felt like a princess; just like I had dreamed of as a child. I knew I had to have the tiara after that. When we got to the tent I was so elated. The arch was beautiful and the flower petals all over the ground smelled so fragrant. It was all like a dream. I stopped to admire the flower arrangements at first, but then I found myself dancing under the arch. I can only hope my real wedding will be even more beautiful.”

User Image

User Image
Kayla had on a peachy dress and held a matching Calla Lily.
“I felt a lot more comfortable at this shoot! The dress was really tight and I couldn't breath...or walk well...
I love the pictures, they came out absolutely gorgeous! But I think I could get used to being a model... "

User Image

LeeAnne wore a gorgeously embroidered dress and a rose bouqet.
“I was so glad I got a fairly modern dress since some of the judges didn't like my retro makeover. The set was absolutely beautiful with the nice waterfall and such - luckily, the grass and rocks where plastic, or I would have ruined the dress!
Taking pictures is so much fun, modeling is such a great job... ”

User Image

Mickey had her hair up with a long veil and tiara and wore a nice, big, white dress.
“When I first saw the dress, I wasn't sure. I mean, it really looks like a Barbie wedding dress and I don't want to be looked at as a barbie doll forever...
But the pictures came out beautifully and posing in that gazebo was nice. We tried a whole bunch of poses, including some realy weird ones, but I'm happy with it!”

User Image

Victoria had her hair in a really fancy up-do.
“It was a little weird being in a wedding dress. I wasn't really sure how to act for such an occasion either. I was happy I got to wear my mothers necklace and earrings, I always adored them as a little girl. When I get married for real I want to wear them again. Hopefully I'll be less nervious than I was this time.”

User Image

User Image

Cooper looked great in her strapless dress, curled hair and small tiara.
“I'm pretty satisfied with these. I mean, yeah, I'm probably not getting married in the near future, but maybe my face might make someone pick up this magazine, if I don't scare them away first. I was surprisingly comfortable in the dress and in the shoot, but that could have had something to do with Alice being in the back row. She's my girlfriend, and they even let her be on the cover. Even though neither of us had even heard of Alternative Bride until now. But hey, we might get famous!”

User Image

Audrey's dress had a cute corset lacing bodice.
“I really like the pictures, even though they weren't edited half as much as I expected. My hair looks a lot shorter and darker, but I think they did it that way so that it would look a little more bride-y. Kinda bothered me that I was modeling for a second-marriage magazine even though I haven't even been married once. But the guy who I shot with, I'd marry him in a second.
And the dress was pretty comfortable. They laced it up too tight, and my tiara was digging into my head, but I didn't mind because it was really fun. I'd go running off to get married in a second if it would be as much fun as modeling the dress. Too bad it probably isn't. I'm also kind of glad that I did this catalog, seeing as they gave some really good food and the stuff I wore was really pretty.”

User Image

Cameron looked classy in her simple, silky gown.
“I am quite happy with the way these turned out, even though, chances are, I would never buy anything from a catalog that insisted I "inquire about pricing." I'll stick with Sears, thank you very much. Getting my hair done up was great, too. I felt very graceful and elegant.
I was not very comfortable in the dress, but I eventually got used to it. It was wonderful, seeing the skirt flow around me like that. I was also very grateful that the dress was so simple-anything too complicated and I would never have been able to get it on or pull it off. I was elated that they named the dress after me, and I feel very important. Even though First Time Down The Aisle is the type of thing I'd never read, I hope I have enriched some woman's bridal experience.”

You're getting prettier every round. Good dress, but not so good with the hair.

LeeAnne:
Poses need work. But we like the dress and bob cut together.

User Image

Audrey:
The gown looked perfect on you, but something else seemed to be missing.

You did a great job in that dress, but it looked more like you were trying to sell the flower than the dress.

None of the judges liked the makeup. And some of us didn't like the poses either. But you have great looks, so we want to keep you.

Helaene and Victoria, please step forward.
Helaene, we love your personality, but you disappointed us a little bit this round. You looked out of place, like you were going to a chacha fiesta or a funeral. You shot for different but wound up looking too different for our tastes.
Victoria, we can tell you really tried to change from last week, but you still look a little gothic. We still see your potential and we'd like to see if you can change a bit more.
Congratulations Victoria, you are still in the running for Gaia's Next Sim Model.

User Image

Gaia's Next Sim Model Cycle 2 - Week 3

In this episode the models had fun posing as kids.

User Image

Julia jumped on a bed in her adorable overalls and pigtails.
“At first I felt kind of silly being a college girl dressed up like a kid. But then I thought about things a little more and decided to make the best of it. It's not every day that I can just play around like that. I let loose and had a lot of fun playing with dolls and jumping on the bed, which I hadn't done for so long. It was really great, and I was so thankful my mom's friend let me use her three girls' room, although there was more pink in that room than I had ever seen in my life.“

User Image

User Image

Victoria played games and read a book.
“This time it was really weird, that clothes weren't at all what I'm used to wearing. The hardest part though was the photographer wanted me to play video games. I've never played video games before. Even when I was a kid and could see I was usually outside, so I didn't really know what to do. the reading scene wasn't as bad, I did read as a kid and still read braille although that's a little different. It was still weird to just lay there holding a book.”

User Image

Maike skillfully climbed a tree.
“I got to climb around in trees - it was a lot of fun! I've allways been kind of a tomboy, so this came absolutely natural to me - I even did a handstand up in a tree biggrin
I was so relieved that I didn't have to dress up as Barbie again. I was afraid I had begun to look a bit one dimenional..."

User Image

Kayla looked like she was having tons of fun on a playground.
“It was, well, interesting. I had fun on the playground, but the photographer never wanted any of the snapshots. He wanted me to pose on the playground, not actually play. And then he would go "act more natural!" I mean, how much more natural than actual playing can you act?
but I got used to it and I think the pictures turned out nicely.”

User Image

LeeAnne gets two birthdays this year...
“I got to reenact a kids birthday, full face makeup, presents and all that - it was pretty tough emotionally, because it reminded me of the birthday parties my sister had. I never had a party that great, because my birthday allways collided with something "more important" to my Mother, Grandmother and Sister.
But then I just pretended it was actually a birthday party for me and I had a great time!”

User Image

User Image

Audrey ran a cute little lemonade stand!
“Haha! That was fantastic! I haven't had a lemonade stand in FOREVER! A bunch of people actually bought some. I got three dollars! *shows them off* I really miss my days as a child. But I'm sure that back then I didn't have to arrange myself to be photogenic. It was really fun, though! The dress was really sweet too. Even though I'm not sure how childish it all came out. I still like it.”

User Image

Cameron proved big girls can play with toys, too.
“I'm not going to say I hate these, but they are definitely not in my top picks. I loved the dress and the wings they gave me, but my bangs look awkward and I look a little out there. And mortifyingly enough, my undies were showing in the second picture! Also, they made me go into aspiration failure so I could talk to the therapist as my "imaginary friend." This isn't a shoot I'll want to repeat, and that shows in my pictures.”

User Image

Cooper looked so adorable on the swing in her bright sweater.
“Ouch. I don't hate them, but compared to everyone else's, they look really bad. The photographer and I had an argument before the shoot about what to wear. I liked the one in the first one, and he the second and third. I was exhausted, but that's no excuse. Hopefully my past weeks will keep me in. I mean, you want to see more of me, right? Right?”

User Image

Later, the models hooked up with some animals and tried posing with them!

User Image

Cooper looked calm, even though the cat certainly didn't.
“Mmmm, I was less tired, but to see how phenomenal the pictures of the other girls were, well, that hurt. The cat, Kensei, didn't like me too much. She could probably tell that I'm a dog person. Actually, she scratched me on the arm. Still hurts. She was really tense, and that affected me. The second one was when she was refusing to do any more, and she left and walked right over me. I was just glad it was over.”

User Image

User Image

Cameron played with a sweet dog.
“This was a bajillion times better. I love dogs, and Spark was super friendly. I was relaxed and that shone through in the images, and I'm really happy. Spark was calm the whole time, probably because we had bonded for a while before the shoot, and by that time we were best friends. And I get to keep this adorable hat, which was an added plus. Hopefully these pictures will keep me in.“

User Image

Audrey did a great job riding a blind horse -- while in stiletto boots!

User Image

LeeAnne was practically flying on the back of a dolphin!
“WOW! I mean, I got to swim with DOLPHINS!!!!!
This is something that I allways wanted to do but never could afford. Snoggle, the Dolphin I worked with most is an absolute pro. He has appeared in movies already and is used to working with actors and models, so he was calm and that made it all the much easier for me.
It was so much fun!
There where o many great pictures that I had a hard time deciding - but I will make the rest into a little memory book for me. The photographer sent me an e-mail with them.
Maybe I'll share the memory book once it's finished”

User Image

Kayla looked great laying on a rock with a cheetah.
“Whoa. I mean, I love all the big cats, but it was pretty scary meeting them with no bars in between!”

User Image

User Image

Maike was doing stunts on the back of a horse!
“I'm a pretty athletic girl and when they asked me if I thought I could pull off the "Circus Artist on a horse"-thing, I was all for it. It wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. I fell off once in the beginning, hurting my left ankle, but I pushed through and finished the series. I don't think you can tell in the pictures, though.

I'm so glad I was able to finally show what an athletic girl I am. I think thats something I bring into this competition that the other girls don't have - at least not to that extent!”

User Image

Victoria posed with pandas!
“I was a little nervous at first because the panda were so big, but I quickly became comfortable around them. They were very gentle and it was fun to play with them. The only complaint I would say is the pandas did smell a little odd, but they are bears after all.”

User Image

Julia got to see a bunch of animals, including a tortoise and pet goats at a petting zoo in Three Lakes!

There are 8 girls standing in front of me, but I have only 7 pictures in my hand. If I do not call out your name, you have to go back to the house, pack up your things and leave immediately.

Audrey:
Great job! Especially with the horse pictures.

User Image

Julia:
You make such an adorable little kid. We just can't get enough of you! <3

User Image
User Image

Cooper:
You don't have to leave! Just because you got in a fight with the photographer doesn't mean the pictures are bad! We think you're a great model. We want you to stay!

User Image
User Image

Victoria:
Awesome! You showed a big improvement this week. But the picture of you reading was a little strange, because, no offense, but you're blind! It's kind of weird.

User Image
User Image

LeeAnne:
You looked really in to it, but the hair and make-up are a little off again this week!

User Image
User Image

Mickey:
We liked your poses this round, but still think you could do a little better. And also...enough Barbie remarks. We get it!.

Congratulations, you are all still in the running for becoming Gaia's Next Sim Model!

Cameron and Kayla, please step forward.
Cameron...I don't know. It might be that the photographer just caught you at some bad moments, but it looks like you're cleaning up toys instead of playing with them, and telling the dog to stay instead of petting it. But those are supposed to be the best from the shoot? We can't even see your beautiful face.
Kayla, your pictures were my personal favorite, but the other judges didn't seem to like the kid pictures as much.
Congratulations Kayla, you are still in the running for Gaia's Next Sim Model!

Gaia’s Next Sim Model Cycle 2 - Week 4

In this episode, the girls shed the clothes in exchange for sexy lingerie and posed for a Victoria's Snooflee catalog.

User Image

Victoria went back to the gothic look.
“I've never really worn anything like that so it was a little odd especially with the design of the garment. Since I wasn't wearing much I was glad to be near a fire so I was warm. everything was going pretty good until the rug caught on fire, which caught the camera man on fire, leaving me to try and put it out. I just sort of shot in the direction of the heat until it was out. It was pretty scary but I'm proud of myself for getting it out.”

User Image

User Image

LeeAnne's shoot had a very asian theme.
“I felt a bit embarrassing at first, I mean, taking off all my clothes in front of strangers was not something I had done before. But once the shoot had started and everybody acted profesionally, I felt more comfortable.
Only when they started taking pictures of my butt, I strated feeling a bit weird - but than again, I have a nice a**, so I can understad that they wanted those pictures smile
They gave me this humongous wig to wear. Maybe the jury will like me a bit better that way.”

User Image

Maike wore a feathery bra and panties with matching angel wings.
“I was a bit skeptical at first when I saw the wings, but woah! they looked grand once I had them on. They where extremely heavy and felt like they where stapled to my back, but the pictures came out so fantastic.”

User Image

Kayla had on a purplish-pink one piece..
“A an artist and a slightly older girl, I had a bit of an advantage in this task - being naked in front of people doesn't bother me at all. I loved the thing I got to wear, I looked so sexy.”

User Image

User Image

Cooper wore a basic, yet incredibly sexy bra and pantie set.
“That was...ahh...interesting. The makeup only made me look a little bit like a psycho slut serial killer. They had this little slinky corset thing planned for me, but I have this thing about underwear, and if anyone's going to see them, they're going to be cute and sexy. So, in an unexpected turn of events, they decided to let me wear the ones I had on. I had a ton of fun posing for these, and they let me put on my Cobra Starship CD, so that helped. Modeling undies is a lot easier if you're doing it to the beat of Prostitution is the World's Oldest Profession [and I, Dear Madame, Am a Professional]. Of course, my favorite picture was taken before the shoot, when I was just goofing around on the Lamborghini that had been rented for the night. But we decided not to use it becuase my hips looked really really big. And the photographer just had to be a rude little perv. He made all of these comments--just--ugh. But yeah, it wasn't bad. Self, meet your modeling future.”

User Image

Audrey had big, fluffy, red hair and an almost invisible bra.
“That was really fun, surprisingly! It wasn't exactly a bathing suit, so I'm not quite sure why they put me in the love tub, but whatever. It was a little awkward, and they made me wear those cheap clip in hair extensions. But still, it was nice. I'm not uncomfortable being naked or close-my ex was waaaay too into that stuff. My legs got super hot, but it was okay. The photographer seemed a little too exited to be there, but I had fun. My one issue is that I kind of looked naked in the pictures before the edits because the lighting made me look really pale. Which also screwed up my nose and made me look like a chipmunk.”

Kayla and Victoria, please step forward.
Kayla, you look good but overall there wasn't anything special about your shoot. Fuschia thinks you should have used some accessories to make your look have more oomph and pizazz.
Victoria, you're back to the gothic look this round, even though we've told you about that plenty of times. You pulled it off this time, but try to be more careful about that. No more black!
Congratulations Victoria, you are still in the running for Gaia's Next Sim Model.

Gaia's Next Sim Model Cycle 2 - Week 5

The models wrote their own magazine articles, and posed in photos to go along.

User Image

Victoria posed NAKED for Passion magazine!
“It was a new experience I was really embarrassed at first but I had to pull it together. It was by chane I ended up posing for Passion Magazine in the first place. Since I don't read magazines I didn't have a favorite. It was my friend who works at Passion said I should do it. I was shocked when she first suggested it but she talked me into it. I will say one thing though being on the cover of that kind od magazine does give your self-esteem a boost.”

User Image

User Image

Audrey showed us some of her fashion designing work, and her real name!
“THAT WAS SO FREAKING FUN. [Monthly Design] has been my favorite magazine since I was six, so this was a dream come true. And I was the designer of the month! I loved being able to show off my designs, and the pictures were so great! Even though now, everyone knows that my real name is Audrelia, which I kind of hate for me. I like it as the name of the line, though. And if I don't win this, I'll have a career in fashion, which is almost as good as modeling. (Not quite, but close!) And now I'm in an even better mood than ever! ”

User Image

Cooper tallked about her school days in teenSIM.
“Writing that article was so much fun. But writing the about me part was the best. (Seriously, read it.) I looooved the pictures, and teenSIM is one of my favorite magazines. I prefer regular SIM, but they had no openings and I couldn't think of an article that would work for them. So, yeah. This came out pretty nicely. "

User Image

Julia gave us some home decorating tips.
“Although Simterior Design is my favorite magazine, I don't really know all that much about what makes a room look good. I mostly read it for the tips on how to decorate nicely without spending a ton of Simoleons. So I was kind of surprised they really did have me set up the room. But then again, it's not like I could take credit for someone else's work. It was exciting to be on the cover of a magazine, but I think I'll be embarrassed about how my room turned out for a while. ”

User Image

User Image

LeeAnne was featured in a gardening magazine
“I used to love looking at he pretty flowers in that magazine, but honestly - I didn't know a lot bout gardening. But it was a cool fotoshoot - and even if I don't win here I think I'd have a chance to do stuff like that in the future. I think they liked my work, and I liked doing it”

User Image

Maike was featured in two great articles in a sports magazine!
“I think I did well - I loved taking the sporty pictures - I got to play soccer and taking the kicking pictures was absolutely awesome!”

User Image

They also played around in the snow.

User Image

LeeAnne:
“It was soo warm they couldn't get the artificial snow to look realistic, so they decided to wait another day to see if it would get any colder. Suddenly, later that day the sky went gray and it started snowing for real - we were snowed in the next day!
We had no trouble at al shooting the next day - and I was thrilled! This was my favourite task so far, I love winter!”

User Image

User Image

Maike:
“Wow, that was so much fun! It was freezing, but I got warm during the snowball fight!”

User Image

Julia:
“My friend told me about a little river that freezes over every winter. She said she went ice skating there before, so I decided to check it out. To be honest, it was kind of scary. I was so afraid that the ice wouldn't hold up. I think I'd rather go to the skating rink over this. The little waterfall was cite though.”

User Image

Audrey:
“That was survivable. I'm used to sun, and the jacket I wore was tiny, but I had tights on (Shh. You aren't supposed to be able to see them.) I was kind of just goofing around, waiting for the photographer to be ready, and suddenly, he's just like "Alright, we're done here." Turns out, he thought I was posing when I was really thinking of where hitting him with a snowball would be just right, but I think these are cute. I like the last one best, 'cause it shows that I'm not really a snowy type, especially not in spring.”

User Image

Cooper:
“That was great. I pretty much grew up in a heap of snow, so I was really hot the whole time. I was just chilling out for them and hoping the photographer took advantage of his skills. I think the pictures came out well, so he did a good job. Plus the jacket I got to wear was gorgeous.”

User Image

User Image

Victoria:
“It was fun to play in the snow but I kinda felt bad for the snowman... I guess I can make another but it won't be the same as Mr. McSlushy... *sad*.”

LeeAnne and Maike, please step forward.
LeeAnne, Maike, don't get me wrong: we liked all of the pictures this week. It was really hard to decide the ranks. This was probably the hardest week so far.
Maike, your snow pictures were a little funky, but your magazine shots were great.
LeeAnne, you seemed to be shying away from the camera for every magazine picture. We couldn't see your face at all. I'm sorry, but you didn't seem to have as much effort as the other girls.

Gaia's Next Sim Model Cycle 2 - Week 6

Everyone flew across the globe--some girls leaving the country for the first time--to have fun and relax in the Philippines!

User Image

User Image

Julia:
“I haven't really been able to visit many faraway places in my life, so this trip was truly amazing. I had my friend Danny come with me because he's the bravest person I know and I really can't stand airplanes. Limboing was the first thing we did and it was really fun, although I wasn't so great at it first. I don't know how many pictures the photographer must have of me falling down.

I feel like this contest has boosted my confidence a lot because Danny dared me to try and climb the coconut tree and I actually did it! While I was up the tree I got to see more of the ocean. The water was so clear. The beach itself is very beautiful too; even at night. I think the bonfire we had the last night really rounded off the trip. ”

User Image

Audrey:
“Woo! That was so much fun! As I said last time, I'm used to heat, so the temperature was a great change. Also, I rarely go anywhere, since most of my money has gone to college tuition and other crap like that. I like how these came out, even though I look far more busty than I am in the last one. Anyway, I've been swimming forever so the water was nice, but my hair was a mess after! Luckily we shot these before I went swimming. And my hair was already huge from the humidity, so they had to gel it into submission. That was just so FUN! ”

User Image

User Image

Cooper:
“Eek! I am covered in sunburns. I shouldn't have spent so long in the sun, but it was just so fun! I was camwhoring and dancing and posing and I got really carried away. I have never left SimCity *sweatdrop* so this was really cool for me. I'm exhausted and I need aloe, so I'm going to wrap this up, but that was just great.”

User Image

Maike:
“Whoa, that was awesome! I'm not much of a beach girl, but the philipines have so much to offer! I saw some magnificent ruins and I got to klib up to an active volcano! We ended up using the pictures we took at the ruins of an old church down at the beach because a beachy setting was required. I'm glad I got to come here - its such a culturally rich place!”

User Image

Victoria:
“I've never been to the beach before, it was exhilarating. I could lay on the beach and the water rushing past made it feel like I was going really fast. I think after this contest is over I'd like to go back just to have fun and splash around. ”

There are 5 girls standing in front of me, but I have only 4 pictures in my hand. If I do not call out your name, you have to go back to the house, pack up your things and leave immediately.

Before I get started, I should tell you that we were a bit disappointed with your photos this week. We went all the way to the Philippines for this, so you could have put at least a little more effort into your pictures. You seemed lazy this week. It could have just been the relaxing atmosphere of the islands, but as a model you should remember to work just as hard no matter where you are!

User Image

Julia:
You played around a bit too much; your pictures should have been more "modely".
But, as usual, we loved you just the same!

Cooper and Audrey, please step forward.
Cooper, you've been really great so far, but this week was so bland. All you did in each picture was move your arms, which wasn't much of a change. We need to see more variety.
Audrey, you're beautiful, but you looked bored. We need to see more life in your poses. But we did like the slight variety in your pictures, which is why we've decided to keep you over Cooper.
Congratulations Audrey, you are still in the running for Gaia's Next Sim Model.

Gaia's Next Sim Model Cycle 2 - Week 7

This week was lots of fun: fantasy makeovers and drink commercials!

User Image

User Image

Julia:
[Makeover] I had a lot of fun with the fantasy task. I don't really play games like that, but my roommate at university never seems to stop playing them so that's where I got the idea. It was awesome to be an ice mage. The costume was so elaborate; I really loved it. The makeup was sort of annoying though. My whole face, chest and hands were covered, and I don't know how many times we had to touch it up during the shoot. I think everything turned out nice though so I think it was worth it.

[Commercial] The drink commercial was, well, interesting. I hadn't actually tried Zen Nectars before and I really had no idea what they were all about, but they needed someone to be in their commercial so I went ahead and tried out. I wasn't there for very long. For the most part, they just had me put on a skimpy outfit and strike some poses in front of a green screen. I was surprised to see what they did with the final product. They added so many computer effects that I almost feel like I wasn't there. But I have to say the experience was exciting anyway. I never thought I would end up in a commercial or do half the things I've done through this contest.”

User Image

Victoria:
[Makeover] Well, the director said we were doing some kind of fantasy horror thing so I just went with it. the other models were really nice I talked to them quite a bit, I had a really fun time.

[Commercial] The director told me the idea and I thought it was really weird but we got paid for it and I guess if I want to be a model I'll be doing stuff like this in the future. Although I am starting to get questions about the sanity of the photographer and director...”

User Image

User Image

Maike:
[Makeover] This was a really cool makeover! I mean, I had wings once already, so I was a bit sceptical at first, but these where really light - they had to be, because I had to dangle from an almost invisible rope over a moonlit lak in the middle of the night...
When I saw the unfinished pictures, I was a bit dissappointed. I mean, there where ropes showing and I was hanging in quite odd poses - and I thnk that my face isn't really visible in some of the shots.
But once I saw the finished things, I was like "Woah!" the poses made sense after they edited in the sprite I'm supposed to be catching in this series of pictures.
I absolutely love the pictures, but then again, I'm a sucker for cheesy fantasy novels...

[Commercial] I got bit scared when they presented me with my first costume - a homemaker dress with apron isn't quite what I thought I'd wear as a model. They didn't tell me what drink the commercial was for, so I guessed that it'd be for some organic fruit juice or something...
But when I got to do the second part of the add, I was in for a big surprise. The makeup was pretty wild and putting on the "dress" (in lack of a better word) took a lot of time. It consited of a pair silicone underpants, some glue on blue silicone stuff and a lot of paint...
I love gaiarade blue - and I was really excited whn I learned that the ad was for one of my favourite products...”
