Gaia's Next Sim Model Cycle 2 - Week 1
First things first--all of our contestants got a much needed makeover!
Mickey looks like a whole different person!
“Ummmm...
I kow I said I wanted to look a bit more feminine, but now I look like Barbie...
I like the color, I like the style in general, but it's just soooo different. I'll have to get used to it..
And wearing makeup is not something I usually do, so I barely recognized myself...“
ALL of
Kayla's hair---gone!
“The Stylist asked me if I was a brave woman - I never thought she meant to test my courage that way! I can always wear a wig - but OOOOH! I miss my hair...
(although, it looks kinda cool, but I'm not ready to admit that yet)
I love the makeup, by the way! It makes me look like a real model!”
LeeAnne has a cute, retro bob now!
“I absolutely love it! even if I don't stay another round, this makeover was totaly worth it! Its soo cool and retro - and the Marilyn Monroe dress was soo amazing - anyway, after this nobody can ever tell me again that I'm ugly!"
Cooper looks even more beautiful than before!
“Oh my god. Is that me?
I mean, I love it. Who knew scissors and a gay man could work such wonders?
The hair is totally out of my comfort zone, but somehow it works. And the eye makeup. Oh my god. I can't get over how good it looks! Not to sound narcissistic or anything. I just look really good.
Oh, crud. I'm turning into one of those girls.”
Cameron got a new Asian look!
“Um, wow. I kind of can't get over it. I mean, I'm used to having short hair. I have since I was six. But this whole sort-of-short-but-really-long-that-looks-short-with-product thing is new to me. I'm not a bold person. I'm happiest painting classic, timeless faces and the like, and now I actually stand out in a crowd. The makeup is exquisite, even though I typically keep the paint on my canvas. But I was a bit surprised when the stylist said that she wanted to 'bring out my Asian roots.'
I'm from Ireland.”
Audrey had her hair cut and styled very nicely.
“For the first time in my life, I'm shocked past words.
Okay, not really. I really like it, but I don't feel like me. The stylist said there would only be a slight alteration in color, but it seems very light. But I like it. And purple is so not my type of thing, but that is okay, suprisingly. I think it brings out my inner seductress. (See, this is the point where anyone else would expose their upper thigh. Maybe I'm not that seductive yet.) My eyes look so cool. And my skin looks really different. This is what I get for wearing almost a tube of foundation a day. I can't get over the fact that I look like a model!
I'm still a little word-less, so I'm done talking.”
Victoria got a bandana, and a whole lot of beaded hair.
“I don't usually do much with my hair, though having it styled seems nice. I must say I never would have thought to wear a bandanna thing but I really like it, and I've always been a fan of braids. All of my friends said I look stunning which made me blush a little. I never thought I would hear that about me.”
Mikera went for a classic wavy look.
“It's cute.
I was really worried about how it would look, and I said so casually to the person was starting. I guess they took what I said to heart. I would never wear my hair all down before, because it covered an unfortunate accident I once had with a home makeover, but wow! The stylist managed to dye the hideous colour. I love it! And the makeup makes me feel really beautiful. I'm really happy.”
Helaene's hair got even shorter!
“I really love my new haircut. It's unconventional so I know my parents would hate it. That makes me love it even more! They were already unhappy about my hair before, but now... Haha, I can't wait to see their faces. They'll really flip when they see it's shaved in the back and on the sides.
I really like wearing makeup for a change. Before there was no time. Everything was work, work, work. My dad says all the time, 'You're out there to impress the clients with your business savvy, not your face.' I don't think he'd be able to say anything at all if looking great was my job.”
Julia got a fancy up-do!
“I quite like my new look. I feel so pretty rather than plain, for once. But at first I was sort of surprised that is was me, you know? It's not that I look wild or dramatically different, but I haven't paid too much attention to makeup and styling my hair until now. I tried a little before, but no one seem to notice. Or if they did they didn't say anything.”
After the makeover, the girls got a look at the glamorous life they got to try
talking a walk down the red carpet!
Helaene had a great dress, but some pretty bland poses...
“The makeover really made me feel empowered. I was so ready to dress up nice and strut my stuff. I'm pretty outgoing, so I wasn't shy with the camera at all. I had a great time and felt so at home. I'd love to do it again sometime.”
Julia showed us some very vibrant poses!
“Oh, I feel like such a dork! I was very nervous and not sure what to do at first. I've never been very photogenic, but this is something I will have to get used to if I want to make it anywhere in this competition. I have to overcome my shyness or else I'll never be able to model. Although as time passed I felt myself easing up a little. I think if I practice hard I may be able to pull this off. I just have to.“
Kayla was still in shock from her makeover, and had a little trouble with her pictures.
LeeAnne was strutting her stuff in a cute Marilyn Monroe dress!
“It was fun! It was raining pretty hard, but the photographer was pretty quick with snapping those shots, so I didn't have to stay in the rain very long.
Practicing those poses in front of a mirror really did pay off...”
Cooper wasn't very comfortable in such a short dress, but did well anyway!
“Not too bad. I loved the dress, even though it was exposing, and the place we went to was really cute. They even rented me a limo! [It might have been stolen, nobody would spend that much on me]. There were too many other people inside, but we did the whole shebang outside. The photographer was somewhat hot, but the whole low-cut celebrity style dress kind of made me nervous, which is saying something, considering that the only things that makes me nervous are clowns. And the Backstreet Boys.
Anywhoo, I stumbled a bit, but I'm pretty proud of the result.”
For Cameron, it was a whole new experience!
“No comment. Actually, it was kind of fun. I got to strut my stuff in a way I never have, even though I felt like I was acting. God knows, the way I act regularly is nothing like that. We switched to the same place as Cooper after my area got rained out. I nearly died of embarrassment when the photographer was close and I fell on him. I'm mortified. I couldn't quite get into the mood of the locale and the outfit. But the dress was so far out of my style that I adored it. I mean, orange? Backless?”
Audrey got her own custom-made dress just for the occasion!
“It was superfun. I feel like I have so much potential now. I've never "walked the walk" before. And now, look at me. I'm nearly going pro!
So hopefully I get to stay in and learn to "talk the talk." This shoot helped me get to the point where I might even be able to make it on my own if I get eliminated. I did trip [hard], but it's alright. I think I'm okay. And they took this super awesome picture that I adore:”
Mikera was nervous at first, but once she calmed down she was able to be herself and just have fun with the shoot.
Victoria sure seemed confident for a blind girl!
“It was a little strange at first. I've never done any modeling or anything like it before but it was fun. I had all day to take the pictures so everything was really laid back. The flowers smelled wonderful, it just put me in a pleasant mood. I know I entered because my friend said I should but I'm starting to like this modeling thing.“
Mickey looked comfy walking around in her dazzling red dress.
“It was OK, I guess. The photographer was real nice and just took pictures of me while I was moving around so I would get comfy with the camera and the posing - I think he ended up using some of those first pics.”
Judging time!
There are 10 girls standing in front of me, but I have only 9 pictures in my hand. If I do not call out your name, you have to go back to the house, pack up your things and leave immediately.
Cooper:
We loved it all. Great poses, beautiful makeover and dress, and the camera loves you. You definetely impressed us the most.
Cameron:
You're adorable, even though we all think you look a little nervous in your pictures.
Audrey:
Beautiful hair, and you looked great in that dress.
Julia:
Even though you said you felt uncomfortable, you still looked confident. You have fun, lively poses, but maybe a little too lively. Also, we feel you should try different options with the hair; maybe let it down once in a while?
Mickey:
Gorgeous makeover, you look like a whole different person! But...maybe you should try something else with the makeup.
Helaene:
There wasn't much of a makeover, and your poses look stiff. But you still look great!
Kayla:
That was a very brave move! We see a lot in you and know you can give it all you've got.
LeeAnne:
Going for a retro look, huh? We had divided opinions--some of us liked it, but the others thought you looked to old fashioned.
Congratulations, you are all still in the running for becoming Gaia's Next Sim Model!

Mikera and Victoria, please step forward.
Mikera, we accepted you into this competition because we thought you had it in you. But you've shown us that might not be true. Your poses were very unoriginal, and there wasn't much of a makeover at all.
Victoria, you kind of scared us there! That was, uh, interesting. Models are supposed to look pretty, perhaps you could even say girly, but you looked almost gothic. However, you seem different from the other models, and not because of the blindness. We want to keep you, at least a little longer.
Congratulations Victoria, you are still in the running for Gaia's Next Sim Model!
Come back next time, when the girls model dresses for a wedding catalog!
