______________ The world came from the Goddess herself. The swooping valleys she blew with her breath, the vast forests she plucked from her hair, the clouds made from the loving tears she wept, and with the light of her laugh she created sky stone. For a time, the earth was a tranquil paradise, the nature forever calm.

The Harvest King huffed, his voice the strength of rock and mountains,
"The beauty of your planet is lost -- for there is no one to appreciate it."

And with those words, he took the dirt from the Harvest Goddess' world and crafted creatures of every kind. These creatures laughed with merriment at the world they were gifted. The original people of the Harvest King traveled with wonder and then, finding the best horizon and the most fertile soil, they settled -- growing a tree, the Elder Tree, in honor of the goddess. The Kingdom of Cirrus, as they called it. From the first kingdom grew even more kingdoms, the living becoming more separated and individual as time wore on. However, the Harvest King's original creatures seemed to leave a mark on future generations of Cirrus as they past.

                                                      "Be gracious, be kind,"
They said. "The Harvest Goddess will always look after us."
So in turn they looked after her planet.

But while life sees love and peace, it also paves the way for hatred and greed. Kingdoms grew corrupt, warring with themselves and others. Violence spread for those who envied and sought selfish gains. Over the course of centuries, many lost sight of the goddess and king -- losing memory they even existed. They lost the path the original creatures created and instead fought battles for land, for sky stone, for hate. A blight, formed from the darkness in the creatures' hearts, spread from one another, brewing dark desires and thoughts -- and eventually, it seeped deep into the ground. The disease spread to nature, to the Harvest Goddess herself -- coloring the foliage and bark of trees a muted gray, poisoning the very air. Sky stone erupted from the ground, encasing whole villages and tragic victims in corrupted crystal forever.

The Kingdom of Cirrus watched in agony as their brother kingdoms were lost, as the forests turned black and pulsed with a dark energy. As the Blight began to creep closer, the King and Queen of Cirrus prayed to the Harvest Goddess.

"Please help us, we have looked after your planet -- please keep looking after us."
The Goddess agreed, for she had come to love these creatures the King had given to her planet. With the last of her strength, she lifted the Kingdom of Cirrus to the heavens where the Blight could no longer touch them. In the Elder Tree, she formed sky stone and encased herself in a large sphere, freezing both her and the Blight in time forever. The Harvest King, stung with grief and anger, grew a mountain with a pool of lava in which he walled himself away with sky stone to slumber -- until the day came when the Harvest Goddess would awaken.

______________Centuries have past since the Blight took over the land below. The history of the Kingdom of Cirrus is now more of a folk tale that parents tell their children at night. There are some who still pray to the Harvest Goddess and King, the shrine of the goddess still respected and loved. Yet there are others who find the tale of the Harvest Goddess and King as myth, a tale they were told at a young age that sits in the back of their mind -- their lives ever moving forward and their concerns focused on their days. For a long time, Cirrus didn't concern themselves with the land below -- still believing anything outside of their Kingdom cursed. But within the past couple centuries, Cirrus has led amazing expeditions to the land below, finding settlements and new allies in places where their population survived the Blight by the skin of their teeth. However, what lies outside Cirrus is still ever dangerous, with surviving, hostile creatures that like to scavenge and steal. Within the last decade, the royalty of Cirrus have sent out several scouting expeditions -- for exploration or something more, the citizens do not know.

What few do know, aside from the King and Queen -- is that the sky stone on the floating islands are getting weaker and it is most prominent in the crystal supposedly encasing the Harvest Goddess. Several travelers who have come for refuge have said a new Blight has once more cursed the land with monsters and demons that had disappeared centuries ago. Something hateful is out there, lying in wait -- for Cirrus to run out of energy or the Harvest Goddess to awaken, we have yet to find out.

So first things first, gotta follow the TOS. I'm 99.8% sure you already know this, but for those .2% that don't...sorry to crash your party;;; No crazy 18+ activities that give gaia a reason to remove this roleplay! Relationships between characters have to be realistic, no insta-iwannamarryyous or insta-iwannakillyous pls. That just ruins the fun and who doesn't like a long, drawn out romance/hateship amirite. Under no circumstances should anyone ever be mean to those in the rp! Yes, your characters can be jerks but don't be one yourself. #stopthebullying Cursing is great, I love a good ******** curse, but don't let it get to be every other word in your posts. You can bring serious themes into this roleplay, the more drama the merrier! But remember to leave room for light-hearted humor and fun ! I can't wait to see the characters you cook up, and don't ever fret over sending a PM either my way or to my moderator/co-captain aww gee evie with any questions or concerns you have! Just do it! ( *shia lebouf flexes muscles* )

Ya'll, don't skip these rules -- this is important!! So -- we give you the gift of creative freedom; don't abuse that. That means no overpowered characters and, if your character happens to be a different race than human, make sure your character somewhat reflects the lore of whatever mythical or otherwise fictitious race you decide upon. We mostly accept every race, except for a select few that can be found in the info! There will also be a limit on how many of the same creature we accept. As for age, we're allowing a maximum of four characters to be in the hundreds. The max for those four would be 800+, but that leaves plenty of room for you guys to go wild. Gender and sexualities of all kind are accepted in this roleplay!! We don't have a hootin' patoot bout all that, aight. For your faceclaim, please don't choose a popular character! We will ask you to change and I'd hate to do that to ya. PLEASE, I beg you on my hands and knees -- do not make a gary stu or mary sue! They're the bane of my existence. I want characters that flourish and thrive, a diverse cast that keeps this roleplay interesting! Applications and profile will be explained in the app thread! You're allowed up to two characters! If I see you can handle your characters and you'd like a third, we can talk that out later! Most importantly, under any and all circumstances, we reserve the right to reject your character. Of course, we'll let you know our reasons behind our rejection so that we can hopefully work with you to make your character fit into our roleplay -- but at the end of the day, it's up to us whether you're in or not.

I know it's in the title banner, but just so there's no confusion this is a lazy lit roleplay! Two or so paragraphs are expected, but more is always welcome! However, quality over quantity is always better! Be sure to post in past tense -- third person. Please pretty up your posts with a unique layout, give it a little spice! At least some decoration is necessary. As for frequency of posts, I really only expect one or two posts a week. Of course, you can post how ever much you like, but I know lives are a thing even though I don't have one. I completely understand if you're only able to post once. If you need more time should something come up, just let me know in a PM. I'm okay with allowing more time, should I see your posting in the OOC. I do require that you post in the OOC! It's better if we all know each other and what's going on, and it's good for planning things ahead of time! No god-modding someone's character without consent! For absences, I give a little leeway to people because I have no idea what you're going through on your end, so don't fret if you don't get with me before you disappear. However after seven days of absence, roleplayers have a right to skip your post. I will reach out to you then, asking if you're okay and if we can expect to see you active in the roleplay anytime soon. After a week of absence -- mind you this is without getting in touch with me to let me know you're going to be gone -- your role in the rp will re-open. So basically, you're allowed two weeks of absence before I boot ya. FAQ will be found in the information post and announcements will be made regularly in the roleplay!

I want to stress again that literally all sexualities and genders are welcome in this roleplay! This is a safe place, and if you have a problem with that you can literally do a sweet kickflip into the sunset! In case this ever comes up, the age minimum is sixteen! If you have young characters, make their role in this environment realistic! Usually they'd be assistants, students, ranch or farm hands, etc! Aww Gee Evie is a lovely sweet angel of sunshine and justice and you should love and respect her should she lay down the law! Magic is totally a thing in this universe, from dragons to ghouls to talking cats, oh my! This is also really just space in case I forget something, because that's definitely going to happen! If I change anything I'll make sure to announce it in the OOC. * thumbs up emoji

The largest of the areas where residents reside, as well as the most populated, Cloud's Reach is a neighborhood made of cobblestone streets and ornate homes. As lively as the Aerosol Market just beyond the area, these houses are just right for those who find themselves comfortable with a busy environment that provides a sense of community. Residents of Cloud Reach find it convenient that they are within walking distance of Aerosol's plethora of shops and stalls, where as others who live farther might find it a hassle to hike through the high traffic area of the kingdom just to get to its market. With buildings that stack upon each other, this neighborhood mostly lives within apartments above the shops or in town homes. The apartments contain one bedroom, a living space, bath and kitchen. The town homes are shared by two different residents, each having their own bed and bath -- followed by a shared living and kitchen space.

A town known for its homey, peaceful atmosphere, its full of stone cottages that dot the meadows of the largest western island. Grassy hills with beds of flowers make for a lovely scenery, with thin and wide rivers running through the town. Small wooden bridges are built over the river to allow for easy travel, the town of Dragon's Breath is known for its want for a quiet living without the rush that the inner kingdom and markets provide -- quite contrary to its name. Residents are of a close community, helping each other rather than seeking help else where, and mostly visit the wizard and witch of Setting Moon when they do. For those who reside here, cottages are their home of choice. Small and quaint, the cottage allows for many to live close together whilst still retaining a bit of land for gardening and otherwise.

A small village just beyond the forest lining, most who live within Driftmallow find a life beyond the walls of the kingdom pleasant, quite like those of Dragon's Breath. Unlike the eastern island town, however, which relies on both the magic of the witch and wizard and the supplies of the kingdom's markets, the village of Driftmallow has been known to rely instead on itself. Providing themselves with their own vegetables and herbs through maintained gardens, the villagers of the southern plains find their needs satisfied sufficiently through their own means. Without electricity, Driftmallow lives by the light of day and lamps lit by crushed star leaves at night. Though it's not often that one delves into the forest of Last Haven, it is the people of this village -- as well as the keep far to the east -- that know the most about the forest's environment. They often use Aviseaus for transportation to and from other islands, when necessary, and the Crest Keep for ingredients found within the forest. Those who a bit more adventurous, will find that they are attracted to the many ruins scattered within the forest -- for their rare treasures or even just a good story. Two vastly different homes take shape here in the form of cabins and ranch houses The cabin is, of course, the smaller of the two, containing a den with a fireplace, a small kitchen, bath, and bed. The ranch house consists of two bedrooms, two baths, a study, a living space with fire place, and a large piece of land to grow crops and such on.

β–ˆ WHICH RACES/ABILITIES ARE LIMITED AND HOW MANY ARE TAKEN?

So I'm limiting/excluding some races for various reasons -- whether it's because they're a popular pick or I just don't think they'd fit. I'm going to put a list that may or may not be revised later on. For example, if I get more than one of the same species, I'm going to put a limit on how many I'll accept. There's lots of different creatures to choose from! And remember, humans can have magical abilities just like mythical creatures! Go wild!

                                                                              Dragons 1/1
                                                                              Succubus 2/3
                                                                              Phoenix 1/1

AT THIS TIME, I WILL NOT BE ACCEPTING:
                                                                              Mermaids

As for abilities, I think it'd be a good idea to limit them just in case I get more than one person wanting the same power. This list will be updated as people join the roleplay, so for now there's not many I'm limiting.

                                                                              Teleportation 1/2
                                                                              Shapeshifting 0/3
Slow aging / very old 5/5 ( if you have a really good story, i will make an exception )
                                                                              Resurrection/rebirth 1/1

β–ˆ WHAT IS THE SKY STONE AND HOW IS IT USED?

A crystal originally created by the Harvest Goddess, it began to take a life of its own and started sprouting in the deepest caves and vast forests. In its raw form, it pulses and gives off a magical aura. Just within its vicinity, a person with an ailment or illness can start to feel better. Due to its powerful nature, people thought it might serve purpose in other matters of life if one were to retain its energy. From refined sky stone, it was found that it could be used as fuel for transportation and electricity. Using its magical properties and fuel, the ability to create floating vehicles was created. From carriages without being horsedrawn to full ships that could fly high in the skies, technology was advanced because of the sky stone. The sky stone was also found to have medical uses, the crystal in small doses could serve as faster treatment to common illnesses. People of Cirrus still use the sky stone today -- from enhancing weapons to using the stone as fuel for their lanterns. However, because of the blight corrupted sky stone exists now in the form of a red, pulsing crystal. Corrupted sky stone is made by dark magic fusing with the crystal. When it first began erupting from the ground during the Blight, it would encase victims in crystal to feed off their life force. If a victim happened to magic, the essence of their magic would turn dark, causing the crystal to grow in form. Many found the crystal to be intoxicating within its vicinity -- people would find they had an overwhelming desire to touch the crystal. From the corrupted sky stone, a sickness began to spread in the land below. When people came into contact with the diseased crystal, they began having maddening thoughts -- violent and delusional. In worst cases, magic users would get a hold of sky stone and fuse their darkening magic with the crystal. From then on, the user could literally not be separated from the crystal -- and they grew unresponsive, only attentive on the crystal they held in their hands, until they slowly withered away. When the blight began to enclose on the Kingdom of Cirrus, sky stone in the deepest ground levels fell under the dark magic of the Blight. Corrupted sky stone shot up in the most southwestern part of the kingdom, encasing victims in its midst. When the Harvest Goddess raised the kingdom, the southwestern island was still plagued by the remnants of the Blight, creating what is now the Scar. In the the deep caverns of the Aviseau Den, unfortunate miners found corrupted sky stone and fell ill to the madness caused by it. The kingdom walled off the most deepest of levels, hoping to never again have to see their people of Cirrus suffer from the corrupted sky stone.

β–ˆ CAN YOU EXPLAIN THE BLIGHT A LITTLE MORE?

The Blight is a disease fueled by dark magic; it thrives on souls that have darkness in them. No one knows if the Blight was created by an individual source or if it just manifested from the greed and violence between creatures. However, it is known that the Blight rapidly grew where souls contained the most darkness -- where there were wars and hostility, the Blight took over in just days. The Blight can infect all living things as well as any magical source such as Sky Stone. There is little that can be done to stop the disease and there was little time for the land below to find any cure at all. The Blight is a sickness that seeps into the very ground, discoloring all nature to a sickly grey and black. Creatures that are touched by the sickness mutate into demonic forms of their once self, seeking out dark souls to infect them just as they were. These forms are rabid, hungry for violence, and they thrive on fear. When the Blight was stopped by the Harvest Goddess, many of these beings ceased to be -- without prey they grew weak, giving an advantage to those who survived to face them. However, these monsters still crawl on the surface of the land below, in the deepest forests and caverns where they is little light. Some grow mad and roam freely, hoping to find victims to grow powerful once more.

β–ˆ HOW IS THE LAND BELOW?

The land below has had centuries to fight off the deadened nature and growth of corrupted sky stone. While there is still much land scarred by the Blight, much like the Scar that remains in the Kingdom of Cirrus today, the very nature seems to have battled against the Blight by creating new forests and plains that go as far as the eye can see. Animals still find homes in the land below, though they aren't quite what they may have been centuries before. Magic runs rampant -- creating new animals and plants that have never been discovered. There is always more to learn about the land below, including the surviving settlements that live there in this day and age. Originally many settlements found homes underground or in cliff sides and have since built whole kingdoms in these dwellings. Others have since moved from their past settlements to travel as nomads, finding various ways to survive among the new land. Scavengers live in packs, taking from weary travelers and small settlements. Some live in the air -- in their zeppelins and floating ships, taking to the sky rather than the land below. The Kingdom of Cirrus has made several pacts with the more civilized settlements, receiving goods and transporting their own.

β–ˆ WHAT THE HECK IS AN AVISEAU?

                                                                              User Image

Alright, I gotta let you know that these birds were directly inspired by legend of zelda and final fantasy. Both Aww Gee Evie and I considered ways of transportation between the islands because it's a pretty big kingdom! And we decided one of the biggest ways to travel would be huge frickin' birds. Because why not! With those inspirations in mind we decided the birds would be about the same size as the birds in legend of zelda. For those who haven't played, just imagine they're about the size of a cow. Large enough to ride, but not so big that it's difficult to get on them. Aviseaus are bred by the Sky's Edge Ranch and are taught how to accommodate their rider when they're big enough. The age an Aviseau can be ridden differs depending on the weight of the rider -- for example, if a small child is given lessons on how to ride their Aviseau, the Aviseau can be much smaller than adult Aviseau. It's best to start lessons as early as possible with Aviseau, as they are quite stubborn and it's easier to create a bond. There are Aviseau that aren't tamed, mostly living on the western island where the Aviseau Den is located. The birds live in packs and are skittish but not hostile. They feed on insects and grass. Their favorite snacks are berries, however, which sometimes ends up in an escaped Aviseau chomping down on the Starspore farm's berries. This has led to many arguments between the ranch and farm. They come in all different colors, from raspberry red and vivid lilac to deep ebony and ocean blue! The choice of color resides with the rider, as well as their Aviseau's personality as they can be very characteristic!

β–ˆ HEY, CAN MY CHARACTER LIVE WHERE THEY WORK?
I mean, excluding certain places -- they totally can! Just ask me about it. Especially the farmer and the rancher, they can live on their land. However, if it's Star-Crossed Stitches -- where several people work...then I'm going to ask you to pick a neighborhood!

β–ˆ CAN I MAKE A CHARACTER POSITION THAT ISN'T PRESENTED?
Yes !! As long as I find that the position makes sense in the world I've created, we can definitely talk about making a new position! You can also talk to me if a position you wanted is filled; we might be able to have two ( this won't be the case with every role, but if someone happens to want their character to be a traveler and that role is already taken, for example, I will definitely consider it -- especially if you have a juicy backstory to go along with the position ! ) Just send a PM my way and we can talk. β–ˆ HOW DOES TRANSPORTATION WORK IN THIS ROLEPLAY?
WELL, aside from the those big damn birds, another way of transportation would be bridges or airships. Instead of cars, think ships. For the everyday citizen, they'd either own a ship ( about the size of a sail boat or a fishing boat ) to maneuver through the vast kingdom of Cirrus or the Aviseau. The other means of flying transportation would be the Aviseau, which makes them extremely popular within Cirrus. It's extremely common that a Aviseau is chosen for a family and keeps flying for, at least, a generation. They are life-long pets and mounts, so it is important to choose an Aviseau best suited for you. If flying isn't really one's forte, there are bridges branching out from the kingdom that connect the main islands. That would be the northern island with the farm and ranch, the western island with the Aviseau Den, and the southern island with the Last Haven forest. The islands with the scar, the Temple of Meno, and Aeolous' Landing are only reached via flying. The bridges are made with cobblestone, pillars on each side raising high into the sky, and are supported by sky stone -- making them very secure and extremely safe. Taking the bridges is about an hour of travel from one end to the other and about thirty minutes via wagon or faster mobility.

                  DAY: Autumn 2nd

WEATHER: The summer heat now at the end of its warmth, the fall welcomes a small chill.
It's only slightly cloudy today so there's plenty of shine to counteract the small winds that flow through Cirrus. The leaves of the trees are a fading green, dots of orange and red mixing in with the remnants of summer foliage.

EVENTS: The moonlit festival is taking place today! Gather your friends and family and attend the community bonfire!

This is where we'll put the chapters! For now we're going to have something to start out with, but when we get to the next chapter we're going to update chapter one with whatever has taken place for anyone who'd like to read up before jumping in. Each chapter we will have a post in the OOC to announce the update, as well as a post explaining the new chapter in the in character thread!

The start of our roleplay will take place on AUTUMN 2ND, AT 11:00 AM. The day of the moonlit festival holding a community bonfire. Everyone is getting ready for the event -- cooking great foods and asking dates along with them. For Cirrus, it's the start of a peaceful fall. In the castle, there's word spreading through the maids and cooks. Travelers have come speaking of a new blight -- what could that possibly mean? While the word has not reached outside the castle walls yet, royalty keeping it quiet and not wanting to upset the festivities, it will soon enough. For now, people are having a relaxing morning before they travel their way to Mt. Aeolous. Let's hope this bonfire goes well and those most recent to Cirrus get a good welcome to the community!
