Never thought I'd see a Tassie Tiger on Gaia

Can't wait to see this item when it comes out! I hope it's everything you want!
Thanks! They're my favourite animal and I hope there are still a few of them out there, even though they can't prove any of the sightings.
To the best of our knowledge, the last one died in 1936. There are frequent sightings in the wild, but nobody has been able to get a good picture or find incontrovertible evidence that they are still alive. I would like to believe that they are. Although the thylacine resembles a dog, it's actually a marsupial, like a kangaroo or a wallaby. They lived in Australia 2000 years ago, but they died out on the mainland and by the time white people came to Australia they were only plentiful in Tasmania. They were shy animals who hunted at night and almost never attacked humans (only two incidents were ever recorded, both involving old, sick animals, and the various accounts of each incident differ enough to sound rather like urban legends).
When caught, they were fairly easy to tame, and some people kept them as pets, but not nearly enough to keep the species alive, particularly given the prejudice against them.
Unfortunately, they fell victim to a campaign of extermination in the late 19th century because it was believed that they killed sheep and poultry. Sometimes they did; however, historical records show that the vast majority of sheep and poultry were killed by wild dogs, not thylacines.
