After being terribly elusive, the male WD from our last dice game has finally been won! We have also received another adult template! Things are going a little slow right now, but we don't want to pressure Thalion. Her wrists/hands tend to be mean and flair up if she works too much at once.

We've gotten our second set of adult lines from Thal! They look absolutely amazing too! A free male adult colored by Lady Kitania on those new lines as been put up for another dice game as well.

Time was running out.

The beating sun rose high in the bright blue sky. Strokes of intense heat blanketed the ground below, giving off twisted shimmers of the surrounding landscape. Plant and animal life alike were scarce, more scarce than they had been in many, many years. Naturally, Africa was a place of heat. It had long stretched plains of just about nothing but tall, golden blades of grass, rivers and niles that ran for miles upon miles, and thick jungles that flourished under the intense conditions. However, all that had started to change in more recent years.

Every day that the bright ball of fire rose in the African sky was another day of suffering. Plants and animals were dying from the rise in temperature that the great continent had started to give off. All forms of water were slowly depleting, becoming more and more scarce. The jungles were falling apart and becoming death traps, keeping in all the heat that the thick flora didn't want to let escape. They were practically uninhabitable for most African species. It appeared that the once magnificent continent was dying... Slowly burning itself and it's inhabitants alive.

However, amongst the massive heatwaves, some areas were still managing to survive. The Zambezi Valley was one of the few still flourishing places, it's general area having been rich with water and plenty of minerals for life to grow for decades upon decades. The cycles of life were still just about normal. There was still plenty of prey, and tons more had moved in from the dying areas, seeking refuge and a new place to call home. With prey though, the predators followed. Amongst these predators, a small group of African Wild Dogs, desperately looking for place to claim as their own once more.

The pack was not a large pack at all. It was actually rather small for pack of wild dogs. They were thin and didn't look well at all. Some were limping and others did their best to stand strong, hoping to be a point of inspiration for their sick members. Along the way, many of the older members had died, just not being able to traverse in the intense heat any longer. Amongst the pack though, there was a group of pups They were plenty old enough to walk and even hunt on their own. The pups were all kinds of different colors and designs, showing obvious signs that they weren't all related. They had been picked up along the way from the original pack and then some, saving them from what could of been their deaths.

Two pups in particular stood out. Their names were Mitiwa and Eshe. These two wild dogs had come from completely different packs, but had bonded like the of best of friends. Seeing such happy and rambunctious pups amongst the dreary pack had helped to lighten the general mood, as well as ease their travel. If the current alphas did not make it to what ever safe haven they were searching for, these two pups would become the new pack leaders. Unfortunately, what the pack feared the most is what came to be. The male alpha of the conglomerated pack had become delirious, the terrible heat finally getting the best of him. Thinking that he had seen a wondrous flowing waterway underneath the light of the bright night's moon, he hurled himself right off the edge of a cliff, desperately trying to get to it. The pack mourned... Wild dogs crying out in the night. The female alpha taking up charge. It was only in due time though that the other alpha had passed on, the loss of her newly found love one just breaking her heart.

With the wild dog pack seeming almost to the end of their wits, fate finally smiled upon them. They had reached the Zambezi Valley. It was just as grand and glorious as had been foretold. Sparkling bodies of water lit up their dim eyes. The air around them was noticeably cooler. Life of all sorts bustled to and fro. This... This was to be their new home. It was different from what they were used to... From what they were all used to. It was a lot better than rotting away in the plains of dead grass though, just waiting for the vultures and hyenas to swoop in and have their fills upon the rotting corpses of the deceased. Their life styles would have to adapt to their new surroundings, this was true. Still, it could be done... And would have to be done if they were going to survive. Mitiwa and Eshe were deemed the new alphas of the pack, once they became of age of course. They were both still far too young to take the reins over just yet. With time though, the elders of the pack would teach them everything they needed to know, before passing on blissfully within the valley walls.

And so begins the tale of the Zambezi Valley wild dogs, desperately trying to paint their lives anew.

African hunting dogs are found in grasslands, savannas and open woodlands. They are widely distributed across the African plains and are not found in jungle areas. Their habitat also includes semi-desert to mountainous areas south of the Sahara Desert in Africa.

African hunting dogs tend to prey on mammals that are about twice their weight. At times they will kill larger animals, and they will also take smaller prey individually. Some of the animals they prey on include small antelope such as impala or wildebeest.
