This shop is initially based on the Bamboo Cutter Tale. The story will need some tweaking, but this is what I've got so far.

The shop picks up after the celestial war. The various celestial bodies are growing curious of one another, more particularly, the Earth. Our beautiful planet did not take part in the heavenly war, it only dealt with the ill effects. Odd weather patterns, people "seeing" other beings, technology behaving strangely, natural disasters, ect.
Once the war was beginning to subside, The Heads of the Celestial Houses* began to fix what their war had done to the Earth and it's people. They even restored some of the human damage; extinct species of animals reappeared, ecosystems were restored, and pollution was dramatically cut down.
The earth had been restored to a beauty that it had not seen in a long time. The Heads of the Celestial Houses were pleased with their cooperative work. It was a beautiful little blue planet that remained neutral through the course of the eon long war. It was, more or less, a safe and comfortable place.
Then The Heads of the Celestial Houses than began to think. Due to the new found peace that came about with the end of the war, a sort of central station was needed within the cosmos. And the newly restored Earth was the perfect place. The heads set up a base of operation on Mt. Fuji with advice from Princess Kaguya. She assured them that is was a magnificent place, born from the earth, yet humbled by the heavens. Since Kaguya had already lived on earth, they set her in charge of the project. The House of The Rabbit volunteered Gisauto aid her with anything that she needed. Once the shrine had been built, a neighboring Skulk of Kitsune offered their help to Kaguya as well. Wittenato is the representative of the shrine. He is usually seen the most throughout the shrine. He runs errands, plan events, and his skulk helps Gisau in anyway possible as well.
A year had gone by, since the initial thought of the Earth becoming the central meshing point of the cosmos. Kaguya had dubbed the shrine "The Path of the Stars". And this is where it all begins.

It was early and the air was crisp and cool. Why you decided to go on a walk down the mountain path of all places was unclear, but the air was clean and the fauna shimmered with morning dew. You appreciated the beauty of it all. The city was stuffy, and full of rumors of "Ghosts" and "Spirits" being seen. You didn't have the patience for excited city goers and superstitious monks today.
So they you are, minding your own business, when a highly decorated bamboo shoot rolls out in front of you. There were no bamboo plants to be found around here and you're not walking on a incline of any sort. So this was a little unusual despite stranger things happening to you.
But it was beautiful and seemingly harmless, so you picked it up and continued your morning walk.
Oh look! How brave... The human actually picked it up.
You spun around at the sound of the voice, but saw nothing. The bushes rustled by your feet and you jumped.
Brave? Did you see that leap?! Curious at the very most, but not brave.
What?! Even though you were unsure of the source, you did not appreciate being insulted. You straightened yourself up and held the bamboo shoot close. A breezed picked up and whirled your clothing around, but you did your best not to budge. So much for the Ghosts and Spirits being rumors. The breeze suddenly turned into gale and it knocked you back on your head.
How convenient~
When you awoke, you were in an opulent shrine. Your head spun as you took in the details of the walls and ceiling. You tried to get up, but soon realized that you were restrained to what looked like a marble operating table. You promptly freaked out and struggled to get free. As you were in the process of loosing your mind and fearing for your life, a radiant woman and a white rabbit approached you. The light coming from them quickly relaxed you as they explained why they were here and what they wanted.
"Human! I Kaguya have a task for you. There is a child in this bamboo shoot, and you will raise it."
You stared at the woman blankly, "Are you serious?"
She scowled at you and the rabbit jumped in, "That's no way to talk to the princess you lower life-form. Be honored to be chosen to raise a star child of the cosmos. The Celestial Houses have only agreed to let a few humans be honored with the task of raising their ambassadors."
You sighed, but for the sake of the story line, you agreed. Kaguya jumped for joy and Gisau showed a glimmer of respect for you. Before you left the temple, a gentlemen with strangely colored hair stopped you. His voice was smooth and he had a sly look in his eyes. There was a small group of people behind him, with gorgeous features. You then noticed the ears and tails they were sporting and you couldn't help but stare.
"Hello, I'm Wittenato and I apologize for the Princess and the rabbit. Sometimes they get a bit...Excited and it can be a little much. But they really do mean well."
"A little much? I just got knocked out and technically kidnapped."
The two of you laughed together, he seemed like the only sane person here. He gave you a pat on the back and some instructions for the star piece when it emerges from its bamboo shoot and wished you good luck.
TL;DR
Now you are the lucky parent of a Child of the Cosmos! This should be fun~
Heads of the Celestial Houses* : This refers to the two most popular forms of astrology, Eastern and Western. The houses consist of each individual sign(24 in all). Your pet will be from one of the 24, and which house you receive depends on the event, luck, bribe, or random selection. Different types of astrology, such as Mayan, will be held during special events only.
