I HAVE A QUESTION!
How exactly do you form guidelines to help with drawing + proportions / anatomy? I can't seem to understand how to do rough sketches and then lineart them orz;; I always freehand--which seems easier for me---to a certain degree when having a standing pose lol. I want to learn how to do more poses and perspectives. ; v; !
--another request is, how do you draw side views/hands/noses? T u T...
Yeah, freehand is easier to
start with, but you'll quickly find yourself lost as you keep going because there's just so much going on; and then, if you get to a final product, you'll start to find inconsistencies here and there (odd places in the drawing that looks a bit odd, but you can't seem to pick out why). This is why a rough sketch is so important! It's like writing an essay; you can't write an essay from start to finish without editing. A good essay needs an outline or at least subsections to guide you as you write and refine!
The details for every character your draw is different ie. height, skin colour, proportions, perspectives, backgrounds, poses, etc, which is not reliable when we sketch guidelines. Thus, we revert back to objective, but simple, 2D/3D shapes and lines. I'm sure everyone does it a bit differently, but I've shown
HERE my typical process. Depending on what the artist is comfortable with and how much experience they have, he or she can add in more intermediate steps, or skip some altogether, to get to a final product. You'll also be able to find different types of guidelines and steps in online tutorials and things, if you wanted to see more.
