Ohai.

I personally look forward to all the new Pokemon that are released, because it's something fresh and exciting.
I don't think they look childish; I'm not too fond of some of the designs but that's because they're unfamiliar. It took me time to warm to Wotter/Mijumaru, but it also took me time to warm to Turtwig.

I just wish they'd make some designs based on animals and myths they haven't used yet... I understand the insect, fish and even bird variety, but how many cats and foxes have we got?

Logically, the variety in predator should narrow down as you get further up the food chain. Considering most legendaries are probably at the top, I also wonder why there's a lot of them, but at the same time I know they want to make special Pokemon for people to capture in special circumstances.

One thing I don't get is why people so eagerly buy the myths in the games and anime... Just because you can only catch one of a Pokemon in a game, does not mean there is only one of that Pokemon ever. The exceptions of course are probably Mewtwo and Arceus, for obvious reasons... though I would even doubt those, as Lugia has been shown to be able to breed (there was a baby Lugia and its mother in the anime) and Arceus could theoretically reproduce or create new Pokemon using its power.

Oh, and is anyone else excited that seasons are finally being added into gen-5? I wonder if some Pokemon are more likely to appear at certain times of the year?

What happened to Pichu? Hoothoot? And Ledyba/Spinarak? (Though I guess those last two aren't caterpillar Pokemon, though they still act as Bug beginner Pokemon.)

Would you like to be able to switch pokemon without the need for a pc?

I'm not sure which way to vote: on one hand, why fix what isn't broken? Plus I can't think of a way to do this without making it look like you have every Pokemon in your party at once (but only six available for battle). On the other hand, essentially having an infinite party size does sound appealing...

There would still be a box system, but you would not be able to swap out pokemon inside gyms, in certain environments (messes with the connection), in the elite 4, right before rival battles, inside caves, etc etc

I'm surprised marill doesn't appear in your pikachu progression, after he made an appearance in the first movie he was suspected of being an evolution of pikachu in the upcoming pokemon yellow and even informally named pikablu by fans, it seemed like he was supposed to be the new pikachu for the next region. Obviously didn't catch on quite as hoped but the similarities are still there.

Similarities, yes, but it is different enough to keep it from being with the electric rodents.

Now if they made pikachu-type pokemon of various types, i would put marill and pikachu side by side.

Pichu is a member of the Pikachu family
Hoothoot is too dissimilar in terms of appearance, its time of day, and move set
And same for Hoothoot applied to Ledyba/Spinarak

As I explained before, Gen 2 will most likely get left out of these banners more than other regions, as its close proximity to Kanto results in less variation of similar pokemon.

Thats because Larvitar is the pseudo-legendary of its generation
And while Larvitar isnt a dragon, I included it, and not Beldum, solely based on appearance.
The banners that are not based on special pokemon are supposed to reflect the similar pokemon from each region that people mostly jump to when spouting claims of unoriginality.

Fair enough, though I believe the intention for marill actually was to be the new pikachu and entice people to continue following the series, which is why it started appearing before its region, his similarity isn't as apparent.
